We had the best time helping on Julia and Jackies Farm! We decided quite spontaniously to go to Siquijor and were lucky that they still needed a few helping hands. We stayed for six weeks and got involved in all kinds of farm work, including flipping fields, composting, planting, taking care of the animals, making soy milk and tofu and plenty of other daily tasks. Every day was a little different, which kept things interesting and made the time fly by. What really made this stay special were Julia and Jacky. They are the coolest girls, incredibly knowledgeable and always taking the time to explain everything clearly, especially why each task matters. We learned so much about permaculture during our stay and their lessons were always thoughtful and engaging. Oh, and our game nights with delicious homemade food were so much fun as well. Code names is already on our ‘to get’ list! 😁 Most days we were starting early in the morning, which meant we still had plenty of spare time to explore the beautiful island. We also enjoyed having a kitchen and being able to cook for ourself every now and then. Being part of Atong Baol was great and we would do it again in a heartbeat! See you soon girls!

Our very first Workaway experience — and honestly, we couldn’t have wished for a better one. We were a bit unsure what to expect before Leonardo arrived, but if every Workawayer is like him, we’d happily host someone every week. Leonardo is easygoing, open and very social. From day one, he blended into our family life so naturally that it almost felt like he had always been part of it. He joined us in everything and truly lived alongside us, not just as a volunteer. He is curious, ambitious and genuinely interested in people and the world around him. We really enjoyed talking with him about his ideas, his future and life in general — he’s someone you can have great, meaningful conversations with. He was also incredibly kind and natural with our daughter — playing with her, helping her with homework, and just being very present in a calm and caring way. That meant a lot to us. On a practical level, Leonardo is very respectful and responsible. He took great care of everything and left his space perfectly clean and tidy. Leonardo brings a calm, positive energy and is simply a pleasure to have around. We would recommend him without hesitation — and he is always welcome back.

Hanna was an amazing workawayer to have around for a week. From the moment she arrived, she was helpful and engaging with our little one's and they both clearly enjoyed her company. Hanna happily and confidently spent a few hours a day with one or both of them. It was obvious straight away that she brought a lot of her previous au pair experience and knowledge into our system which made it very easy to entrust her with our kids. Hanna is a lovely person to have around, she's interested and thoughtful, see's what needs doing and we had great conversations with her throughout the week. We would 100% recommend her to anyone else.

Thanks Ofir & Emilia for a wanderful time. It was just what I needed. We made hugelbeds in the veggiegarden prepared the garden for the season. After a check-in in the morning, we usually worked with 4 of us. Around 12:30 hours one of us started preparing the (vegan) lunch. After lunch we all did our own thing. I stayed in my own van, close to the motherhouse so I could have electricity. Divers accomodation was spread out over the mountain so we all had our own privacy. Wish I could have stayed a week longer to help plant 🌱. But because I want to join another Workaway project that has a minimum of 2 weeks, I had to go. @Ofir & Emilia, thanks for having me and look forward to some pictures of the garden in a few months!

I spent 4 weeks in the beautiful mountains of Alvaschein, Switzerland with Sabrina, Mirko, Sol, Amo, and Umo for my first Workaway experience. The house and kitchen are spacious and well-equipped, with plenty of resources and food available. Sabrina and Mirko are extremely kind, empathetic, and genuinely appreciative, and I felt welcomed and included as part of the family. I also really valued how mindful they are—especially when it comes to not wasting food and always making use of leftovers. It took me about two weeks to fully adjust, especially when it came to understanding the kids’ preferences and the overall flow of the home. At the same time, there was flexibility—for example, on some days I prepared breakfast the night before so I could sleep a bit longer. While there was space to be creative, I often cooked according to the kids’ preferences, as they tend to stick to familiar foods. At the dining table, conversations are often in German since the kids don’t speak English, which can sometimes make it harder to follow. Since most of my work was in the mornings and afternoons, evenings were usually free, though internet access is limited, so it’s best to bring your own. The location is truly beautiful, with plenty of hikes and places to explore on days off. I also found Mirko’s art very inspiring and really enjoyed our conversations about veganism, yoga, India, and many other topics. It was also nice to see past Workawayers visiting again, which says a lot about the connections built here. This experience is best suited for someone who enjoys cooking and spending time with kids, and it can be ideal if two people come together to share the workload. I take back with me beautiful memories and I would love to visit them again someday ❤️

Jasmine stayed with us for 6 weeks in January-February and it was an absolute pleasure to have her here. She is very mature for her age, caring, polite and just a super nice person to have around. She immediately fit in with us as if we had known each other before and the girls liked her a lot. She mainly helped around the house, cooking meals, helped with the animals, cleaning the paddock and was an easygoing part of the family. It was also a very 'exceptional' time for us, something that luckily never happened before, while Jasmine was here, as all three of us (me and the kids) were sick and I would have not made it without her help. Jasmine even surprised us quite a few times with special breakfasts like pancakes or with her super tasty banana bread that she made at night after we had gone to bed. That little detail was very sweet and special. Thank you Jasmine. We would love to have Jasmine stay with us at our finca again any time.

I very much enjoyed having Valentin to stay, And I was so grateful for all his help. He is a very nice, thoughtful and hard-working person. He’s also very independent, I was able to set him tasks and just let him get on and do them by himself. He willingly helped me with an incredible range of tasks, to a very high standard. He is also a great cook and very good company, having travelled a lot and with an open minded point of view. I can’recommend him highly enough, And wish him fun on his new adventures.

I had an absolutely amazing two weeks staying with Dawn. From the very beginning, she was incredibly kind and always made me feel appreciated for the work I was doing, which meant a lot to me. I truly loved her cooking, every meal was delicious!! and I really enjoyed the time we spent sharing meals, watching films and TV shows together, and having so many great conversations. It created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I also learned a lot about gardening during my stay, which was a wonderful and enriching experience. The room I stayed in was absolutely adorable, it felt like living in a Hobbit house, ahah! Thank you again, Dawn, for these unforgettable two weeks!

Sue and Grant have a lovely property and a whimsical house that would fit right into a fairytale. Over the week we helped with some gardening, wood stacking, and general maintenance of the house, in return for shared meals and many many sweet cuddles with Nauve and Pepi who could instantly spot a couple of free hand ready for pets. Sue and Grant gave us some great recommendations of what to see in the area and everything was truly breathtaking. We had a great time and it was nice change of pace to wake up with the rising sun and having a nice early night.

Mamiko and her daughter Asa are polite and were very helpful. They were respectful of our home and faith practices. They helped with babysitting and other tasks in the day. We shared meals and they prepared delicious Japanese breakfasts for my family and my guests .The meals were simple yet healthy and delicious .I learnt so much. We struggled a bit with communication but their impeccable manners and grace far outweigh the language barrier as they are very eager to practise and learn. Mamiko , a facial therapist , also did some facials and hand massages by way of shared exchange which we appreciated. Overall a good stay!

Sara was only with me for four nights but she fitted right in to my household and was very easy to host. During her short stay she was a great help to me with planting out some native plants into an area of the farm and assisting me with some major tidying up in my late husband's shed when the weather turned wet. She also did some weeding of the rampant ivy and we bottled some peaches together. Nothing was a bother to her, she's good company and I'd recommend her to other hosts. Happy travels sweet lady.

Mirella, Manny, Luca and Yara are such a wonderful family. I appreciated their heartfelt welcome into their home and the gentle, relaxed pace of the household overall. As per their description, music is always playing which brings a joyous and vibrant vibe to this otherwise tranquil and peaceful place. They also do love wholesome, nutritious food and were very generous with all the meals and produce from the land. I enjoyed doing a variety of tasks during the few days I stayed with them, from weeding, collecting fruit to sauerkraut making and moving the chickens. A big part of my experience was playing with the kids who were super friendly and delighted to engage with me. The room I was staying in was super spacious with the en suite bathroom. I was comfortable and both were attentive to how I was and if I needed anything. We had really interesting conversations and I appreciated their desire to share their knowledge and experiences as well as their curiosity about mine. The whole experience was a highlight and I definitely recommend it! I'll probably be back. 😉

Really warm and inviting family living consciously nella campagna in the Marche region. Musical, artistic, funny, loving and caring. Highly recommended if you would like a unique day-in-the-life-of experience in this beautiful region on Italy with an opportunity to learn more about yourself. Graham's witty humour is highly entertaining and he is fun to work with, being patient and encouraging. You will leave uplifted and inspired!

Arun is an excellent volunteer. He taught English to all the levels in my preschool. He also greatly assisted in the Graduation Ceremony for the outgoing class in my preschool. Arun is very intelligent, hardworking, and sincere. His teaching skills are excellent and were appreciated both by the students and my Thai staff. His goal was to focus on improving every child he taught. He adjusted very easily from the 1st day itself - we felt that he was a part of the school family. The best quality that Arun has is the way he treated all the kids with warmth and love. We would love to have him back as a volunteer.

Amazing place to be! The hosts are friendly people, always open to share their solid knowledge in permaculture gardening as well as construction of buildings and elements made from wood, cob (clay building). All meals, which one can help preparing with, are organic. The daily work consists mostly of gardening (pruning, seeding, planting, harvesting), cooking and preserving, general help in the house and property, working on projects like building the sauna, working with wood and different hand tools. Definitely expanded my knowledge here and widened my big picture of sustainable living. Thanks for all the sharing and great moments Ariana and Nick! May we meet again!

Have been with Tanisha and Ashwin for only 4 days to bridge some time on my journey. The work I did was quite diverse (watering, weeding, woodwork), but sometimes also really hard (digging trenches with Indian style shovels), usually 7 to 9:30 .. 10:00 AM and 5 to ~7 PM. Accommodation is simple (no private space, you live with other volunteers), bathroom is pure Indian style (no toilet paper), so don't expect any comfort. However you'll live in a wonderful place at the end of a small village in the middle of the jungle. And your hosts are also super nice and helpful (and usually prepare a great dinner - Ashwin made the *BEST* vegan Italian pizza I ever had 😄).
