Description
Hi, my name is Valentin :)
I was born in Russia, but I grew up in Italy, where I spent most of my life until I graduated from university.
After my studies, I felt a strong urge to step outside my comfort zone, explore the world, and seek personal growth and meaning. I decided to fly to Australia, initially planning to stay for just one year. However, life had other plans — I ended up spending five wonderful years there, which deeply transformed my worldview and set me on the path I continue to follow today.
I first worked on commercial farms in Australia, but after moving to the remote West Coast, I discovered permaculture. This experience inspired me to seek workplaces that cared for the environment and practiced sustainability with intention. I was fortunate to spend two years working on a biodynamic vineyard and garlic farm, where I developed a deep connection with the land and a clear understanding of how alternative farming practices contribute to more sustainable systems.
In addition to this, I volunteered at a community-driven farm that hosts one of the largest aquaponic setups in Western Australia. This experience taught me a great deal about communal living, growing food sustainably, and the dynamics of community life. After completing a Permaculture Design Course in Margaret River and spending five years in Australia, I felt it was time to deepen my academic knowledge of sustainability. I was accepted into a Master of Science in Sustainability for Policy and Society in the Netherlands.
Years after leaving Italy and my comfort zone, and now having completed my master’s degree, I realize that I want to dedicate my life to exploring sustainability in all its dimensions — social, environmental, and economic. My goal is to share this knowledge widely, raising awareness about the importance of caring for our planet and ensuring that future generations can enjoy the gifts it offers us today.
My next step is to spend a year in Aotearoa, where I hope to connect with local cultures and practices, and contribute to community projects focused on conservation, climate advocacy, centering marginalized voices, and other sustainability initiatives.I am deeply passionate about gardening, planting, and reading about sustainability. I’ve spent many years working outdoors with my hands in the soil, as well as reflecting, debating, and writing about how we can live more responsibly on this Earth. I would love to connect and contribute wherever I can.
