I spent a week at Adeline’s place and it was really great. She made me feel very welcome and showed me some beautiful places. The food was very good. The work required is simple and the working hours are very flexible. I’m very grateful to Adeline for this week. One small thing to note: the room at the top of the garden wasn’t extremely clean, and if you leave the windows open, some little weird bugs might come in 😅. But nothing serious the experience was amazing! Thank you so much, I definitely recommend this host.

A pleasure to host...both girls worked hard and were respectful.

Inga is an excellent person to have in your house: She got along very well with our children and had a good understanding of the tasks and how to organize them. She is punctual and correct, always up for a good and pleasant chat, and very dedicated. We are very happy that she came to stay with us: she helped us a lot with the daily tasks of animal care, but also with the start of the new gardening season and a few smaller jobs. We already miss her!

Louise and Robert were very kind and friendly to us. It was nice to see how they live, and we learned a lot from them. The food was new for us, and we liked it very much. We really enjoyed the programs together: playing cards, skiing, and making a fire in the evening in the winter. We will not forget it. Philip and Lina are two lovely children. In the end, even though we did not speak the same language, they had a lot of fun with our son. We worked mostly in the garden, but we also helped a little in the house. The accommodation was perfect. From the window, we saw deer and a squirrel, and the two ducks were always with us in the garden. We would love to come back in warmer weather and continue where we left off, with more confidence.

Unfortunately we had found another work away in the middle of the jungle off grid with limited wi-fi had forgot to reply back to this host. Looks like a great place though!

I had a wonderfull time with Maja and Christian! They included me in lots of activities such as grocery shopping, their nature club, swimming and much more! I'm very thankfull for their kindness. They helped me and cared when my bagage was lost bc of the airplane. Maja and Christian, Thank you for inviting me in your home, you gave much more then I had expected and made me have a nice experience. Thank you for the music sheets (I'm still practicing) and the musical evenings. I hope I will see you in the future with some good homebaked cake ;)

We made amazing memories and amazing friends for life here at the hostel - not an uncommon thing. Carlos was an amazing host, he listened to everyone and treated everyone with a great deal of respect. He would solve any problems quickly and efficiently, he really values and cares about his volonteers and this is shown in the respect he shows them. The hostel holds something a little more special within its walls. Memories of good times, with good people.

Super consigliati!!!

David and his family gave us our very first Workaway experience, and it was truly enriching and unforgettable. David is a very experienced traveler, he has visited nearly 30 countries, so spending time with him meant listening to incredible stories, especially around a campfire, with good wine and the beautiful river flowing right in front of his home. During our stay, we helped with the morning farm tasks, such as collecting eggs, feeding the chickens, watering the garden, and taking care of the plants. We also cooked together, which was a lot of fun and allowed us to share even more moments. His mother is a very warm and caring person; from the very first moment, she made us feel comfortable and truly at home. It was without a doubt a beautiful experience. We discovered stunning landscapes, nearby towns with different climates close to David’s home, enjoyed their swimming pool, and most importantly, we took this family with us as a gold-medal memory. 🥰✨🏅 We would definitely come back!

mel, Thank you so much for your beautiful words. It truly means a lot to us that you felt at home here and could connect with the rhythm of the place, the nature, and the simple moments that make this place special. We loved having you with us, sharing the mango harvest, preparing the retreat together, and caring for the space as a team. We hope a little piece of this green landscape travels with you wherever you go. Our doors will always be open for you. Eyal & Natalia

Staying with Alec was really great, he is very understanding and caters to everyone's strengths. We worked for only 2 hours a day and at a pace that was good for us. I spent my time labouring or gardening, physical work but enjoyable for me and Danny helped with cleaning & Painting instead of the physical work, she really enjoyed this relaxed approach to her work. Our time here was very chilled days spent at the river, playing board games and walking with the Pups. I hope to pass through puerto escondido again and say hello to Alec and the dogs :) thank you !

I volunteered here back in November 2025. The experience was positive. Dayana and Haroldo were welcoming and Rosie was very accommodating finding Gluten free food for me and taking me out to Forro which was a real local experience. They give you everything you need to teach English if you have never done it before, it was really easy. I taught a mix of students, different levels and ages which was fun. I taught usually in the afternoons and later evening with a break in the middle. It also helped me improve my Portuguese, and even my English (despite being a native speaker, teaching requires you to learn a lot more about your own language). The students were great and are used to new teachers, one of the lovely students even invited me for some beach tennis which was so fun! Unfortunately, I was the only volunteer during this time (normally they pair you with another volunteer) as the school was finishing up for the year. It meant it was a bit lonely at times to go and explore the surrounds. The room (which is a pool house room separate from the house) could also use some maintenance as it wasn't very clean when I arrived and had no lock on the door. Also, in terms of location it states São Sebastião but it is actually in a small town called Boicucanga about an hour bus from there. Originally on the profile it stated the school was very close to the beach (and in the previous reviews) however, they had since moved locations so the beach is about 15 minute walk, but it's an easy walk, and a beautiful beach and I felt really safe there alone. There is also a great gym nearby. There are so many beautiful beaches and towns nearby which you can get to by a cheap public bus. I also got a bus and ferry to Ilha Bela on the weekend which was incredibly beautiful, highly recommend! Obrigada!

I stayed with Shannon and her family for 4 weeks and had a great time in winter wonderland. I immediately felt welcomed in Shannons cozy home. I had my own room and Shannon would let me use the car whenever she didn't need it. The work really was no work at all. I simply helped out with the household. The family was on vacation for half my stay and I took care of the house and the cutest two companions. I really enjoyed cuddling with both of them and going on walks with Sienna. You will see norther lights here, and I went dogsledding twice and took a trail around the beautiful Frame Lake. I visited old town with it's art galleries as well as the Ice Road and Ice Caves. I even got to learn a bit about local culture and the indigenous communities in the area. Since everyone was really busy when they were home, I didn't really get to do a lot with the family, but everyone was really friendly and I'm incredibly happy to have gotten the opportunity of staying here.

We hosted Clare at our home for a month and it was a very positive experience! We really appreciated her sense of responsibility, in taking care of our twins and with the housework. She was always very thoughtful, helpful, and kind. The boys immediately established a great relation, and when she left, we missed her reassuring presence. Lulù misses her a lot too ;) Thank you Clare for your thoughtfulness, we would love to host you again! ;)

Giulia stayed with me for two weeks, but her presence was truly invaluable. From a practical standpoint, she collaborated responsibly and actively in every activity entrusted to her. But even more, she lived this place to the fullest, bringing her great faith in Jesus, living it with others, engaging and supporting them. I'm truly happy with her presence here and I certainly hope she'll return. I highly recommend her...thank you, Giulia 🙏

Hello Payton , We were pleased to have you stay and find your place on the farm. Being there on time every morning ready to help in any way that was needed. Thank you for taking on many different parts of the farm work and the power washing and painting project. We were able to rely upon you and know that you were doing the best job possible. Every project you were ready and willing to learn and to complete with a pleasant attitude and friendly manner making the experience fun. We are glad that you were able to visit the ox cart Factory and Botanical Garden here in Sarchi as well as explore and enjoy parts of the country away from the farm . The bench project is a testament to your improved design and carpentry ability and we will use that for years. I hope that our paths cross in the future as I plan to visit your area and you will be welcome here. Franklin

Our experience at the school was much more than just a volunteer opportunity — it marked the beginning of our new life in Italy. We arrived during a time of transition, full of expectations and also challenges, and we were welcomed with respect, generosity, and genuine kindness. We are deeply grateful to have found an environment that was open to dialogue and truly willing to integrate us into the project. From the very first day, we felt valued and encouraged to contribute with our skills, while also learning something new every day. The school was not only a place where we volunteered, but a space that became part of our adaptation process, growth, and the building of this new chapter in our lives. We carry with us not only practical lessons, but also precious memories and a profound sense of gratitude. We recommend this experience to volunteers who wish to live a meaningful and authentic exchange, grounded in respect, humanity, and true collaboration. Our gratitude will always be part of this journey.

With Michelle, Chris, Ayla, Ayron, Aymon, Sphinx, and Cairo, I felt at home from the first moment I arrived in Switzerland. I can say that I couldn't have chosen a better first experience. Michelle and Chris are great hosts and made me feel like part of the family, always willing to help me, give travel tips, chat, and anything I needed that was within their reach, they didn't hesitate to do. I'm still improving my English, and they were always very kind when I made a mistake or forgot a word. I had a lot of fun watching Stranger Things and playing their various card and board games. Spending Christmas and New Year's with them was a huge plus because I got to experience unforgettable moments and try recipes I had never tasted before (in my conversation with Michelle I said I really wanted to have an incredible Christmas outside my country, and know that I truly did). I also loved meeting some of her family and friends during the end-of-year holidays; her mother was especially kind to me, and we had great conversations. The children are a very special part of this Workaway because they are all very kind, polite, and open to learning about our culture. I was able to teach them a song in Portuguese, and they easily learned it and haven't stopped singing since. The boys are very smart and special; they hugged me since I arrived at the house. Ayla is shy at first, but once she gets used to it, she's the cutest child in the world. Regarding accommodation, we shared a room with another Workaway, but it's a very comfortable environment with privacy since the beds are separated by a wardrobe. An important part of this experience was sharing tasks with other Workaways because, besides the work not being too heavy, I was able to learn from them and make friendships during my stay that I will cherish for life. Michelle is very organized with tasks and gave me everything I needed to know during the whole time there. The job involves looking after the children, helping with household chores and cooking, exactly as described in the profile. Finally, of course I can't fail to mention that I fell in love with the kitten Sphinx, whom I will miss very, very much. I will also miss styling little Ayla's hair while she devoured her morning smoothie. In short, what I can say is that I highly recommend this family on Workaway! I will miss them and hope to see them again soon in the summer. Cami

I really enjoyed the experience at the cafe. The value of experiencing myself in the role of a teacher was truly extraordinary. It expanded my mind to see the importance of guidance in the process of communication and learning. It also helped me to understand how to manage a big group of people and befriend them, while not losing control of the class. Really valuable experience, I have to say. So much improvisation and thinking of different topics to discuss, while encouraging everyone to speak, even those less inclined to open up. Psychological, intelectual and practical aspects of this work are important lessons that will stay with me forever. The whole team working at the cafe was very kind and professional. Same with the other workawayers working with me, it really felt like a whole family united in one very nice goal of bringing confidence in students of all ages to speak a new language and make them feel comfortable in trying. Students also felt like a part of this family, being very friendly and always welcoming to hang out after the classes, curious and helpful. You will definitely get plenty of tips for exploring Istanbul and other parts of Turkey along with this work. Wish you all good luck!

I stayed with Daniele for about a week in February and had a magical time. He is a generous, kind hearted & easy going person with many skills. His cabin is enchanting, and very rustic. To stay here is to travel back in time- where the functions of daily life require more work and for you to be in harmony with nature. Together, Daniele and I practiced yoga in the mornings, worked, hosted a full moon pizza jam celebration, listened to music by the fire, and had adventures with members of his community. I learned a little bit about leatherwork from him, too, and got to make something to remember my time in Cervalo! I speak mostly English and Daniele's commitment to communicating with me in his third language meant a lot. If you get the opportunity to stay here, do it! You will make many happy memories.
