    Description

    Dear Workawayers,

We are Milou & Eric, a Dutch family who recently took over a 23-hectare domaine with lakes, forest, endless nature and a few holiday accommodations that are only open for a short period in summer. We live here with our daughter Keet (8) and my parents, making it a true three-generation adventure.

After many years in the corporate world, we chose a different life: more outside, more together and more connected with people. Keet goes to school in the village and is already picking up French at lightning speed 😉

Food plays a big part in our daily life.

Eric and my father are certified ice-cream makers, and together we love cooking, trying new recipes and sharing long meals at big tables. I’m also a yoga teacher, and my parents bring over 50 years of hospitality experience — so there’s always something to learn, to exchange and to enjoy.

What we enjoy most about hosting Workawayers is getting to know you: your stories, your travels, what you want to learn. Evenings often end outside with a fire, a glass of wine and good conversation.

Our domaine is home to cats, chickens, and — from March 2026 — a Labrador pup.
This spring we’ll also welcome a small group of sheep, which will be part of our growing little ecosystem.

We’re located 1 hour from the student city of Toulouse — the 4th largest city in France with an international airport — and 15 minutes from the historic city of Auch.

Our region is often called the Tuscany of France, with rolling hills, beautiful landscapes and a relaxed pace of life. The Pyrenees are close enough for hiking, skiing and day trips, making this a wonderful base for exploring.

We often meet as strangers and say goodbye as friends — and we hope you’ll feel the same.

    See you soon?
    🙂🌿

P.s. The tasks are not related to our gites or paying guests. All help is for our family life, animals, garden, land and private projects.

The Gers is known for its gastronomy, warm-hearted people and incredibly pure air. They even call it the green lung of France. Life here moves at a slower pace, with local markets, small cafés, village fêtes and long summer evenings outside.

By joining us, you experience not only the region, but also daily life inside a three-generation Dutch–French family. We love sharing meals, stories and small everyday moments. Workawayers often join us at the table, by the fire, or on local outings.

    What you can learn here:
    - French village life and the local culture
    - Cooking and hospitality (my parents bring 50+ years of experience)
    - Making homemade ice cream with Eric and my father 🍨
    - Yoga and breathwork practices with me
    - How to help run a small domaine with gîtes, nature, animals and family guests
    - The gastronomic culture of the Gers — markets, seasonal dishes, regional traditions.

    Languages:
We speak Dutch, English, German and French at home. You’re welcome to practise any of those with us.

What we enjoy most is learning about you: your culture, your stories, your recipes, your music, your travels. Every Workawayer brings something unique, and it becomes part of the atmosphere here.

Life on our domaine is varied, seasonal and mostly outdoors. We’re looking for Workawayers who enjoy being active, trying new things and working together as a small team.

Most tasks are light maintenance and improvement projects, such as:
    - gardening and taking care of the grounds, for our private area's only, not for paying guests zones.
    - maintaining fences or small outdoor areas
    - helping with small projects
    - repairing simple structures (like a chicken shed or fencing for the sheep)
    - keeping paths, terraces and shared spaces tidy, for our private area's only, not for paying guests zones.

Alongside that, there are also family- and daily-life tasks, such as:
    - helping around the house
    - helping with animals (cats, chickens, sheep, Labrador pup)
    - cooking
    - etc.

We love working together, sharing skills and teaching each other new things.
Most of the time we work side by side, talk, laugh, figure things out and make it a relaxed, positive day. Tasks depend on the season, the weather and what the domaine needs at that moment.

If you like variety, nature, teamwork and learning new skills, you’ll feel right at home here.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You’ll stay in a clean, comfortable place on our domaine, depending on the season:

Off-season: a cosy room with a double bed in one of our gîtes

High season: a nicely refurbished caravan with a double bed and your own private bathroom (shower and toilet)

Both options offer privacy, comfort and plenty of space, with nature right outside your door.

Meals are an important part of life here.
You’re welcome to join all the dishes we cook, including new recipes we try out together and of course the homemade ice cream . We keep the atmosphere relaxed and family-style: good food, long tables, shared moments.

You can also help yourself to drinks from the fridge, and we encourage you to treat the place like a home.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In your free time there’s plenty to explore.
Our domaine is surrounded by peaceful nature, walking paths and space to relax — but the wider region is full of beautiful places to discover:

    • Auch (15 min) — historic centre, cafés, markets
    • Toulouse (1 hour) — vibrant student city, great food and culture
    • Pyrenees — perfect for hiking, skiing and day trips
    • West coast (Biarritz ~2 hours) — surf and beaches
    • East coast (Narbonne ~3 hours) — Mediterranean coastline
    • Barcelona (~4.5 hours) — doable for a long weekend
    • North Spain — stunning hiking areas, beautiful wine regions and charming towns, all within easy reach

Public transport is available from Auch for bigger trips, and of course we have reliable wifi at the domaine.

I (Milou) teach yoga classes for guests during the season, and Workawayers are always welcome to join.
Outside the season, I also teach a weekly Sunday class for people from the village, and you’re invited to join those as well — free of charge.

Our lifestyle is relaxed, outdoorsy and family-oriented. We don’t have strict house rules — just kindness, respect and treating the place as if it were your own.

    Can possibly accept pets

We can accept Workawayers with well-behaved and social dogs, as long as they are good with other animals (cats, chickens, and — from spring 2026 — sheep and a Labrador pup). We cannot host pets that chase or stress farm animals. Please message us beforehand to check if it’s a good match.
