I see I forgot to leave Yu Chen a feedback. She stayed with us for a week in summer 2025. It was short and I did not have a lot of interactions with her, but she was a pleasant guest who we hope had a good stay with us. All the best to her in all her future endeavors.

My time with Mayumi and her family was honestly one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had while travelling. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed not as a volunteer, but as someone being invited into their home and daily life. It very quickly felt like I was part of the family. Spending time with their 6-year-old son and helping him with English never really felt like “work.” We mostly learned through playing, chatting, and doing fun activities together, and it was so special to see his personality and confidence grow over time. He is such a sweet, funny, and curious kid, and I feel really lucky that I got to be part of that stage of his life. What made this experience so special to me was how much Mayumi shared about everyday life in Japan. From meals together to conversations about culture, routines, and life in Japan, I felt like I got a glimpse of the country that you can’t really experience just by travelling through. Those small everyday moments ended up being some of my favourite memories. Mayumi is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and generous. She always made sure I was comfortable, included, and enjoying my time, and there was a really nice balance between helping out and having time to explore and enjoy the area. I left feeling so grateful for the experience and the connections we built. It’s one of those travel memories that will always stay with me, and I hope our paths cross again someday. Thank you so much!

Aleksandra was a great help in the house, kitchen and in the finca. She is very friendly, responsable, honest and hard working. I can really recomend her. All the best on your jurney.

I stayed for 4 weeks during February 2026 and it wasn't long enough. Sadly, work commitments beckoned. Pipsa and Miia (mother and daughter) are superb hostesses, guides and chefs. Not only are they generous and funny, but most importantly are open-minded and kind. They have met people from all over the world and their acceptance of other cultures reflects this. One thing that impressed me is how they strike a perfect balance between respecting personal boundaries and showing genuine interest. Miia's boys who are around most of the time (13 & 18) are also quite remarkable and I will miss their warm, educated approach to life. They always made me feel at home, away from home and invited me out to ski and hang out on various occasions. From my experience of working with children and young adults around the world, I found their social skills exemplary. Compliments too to Seppo who you'll soon get to know. His flexibility and humour were most memorable. Regarding work on the farm I learnt so much, so quickly and the system of passing knowledge down from them to volunteers, and then from volunteer to volunteer, worked extremely well. Whilst there is clearly work to be done, it never felt overwhelming or too much. If anything, at times I wanted to do more for them. Winter responsibilities for me ranged from loading/ordering wood and feeding the animals to preparing various equipment/facilities for use around the farm. Time flies there and it surprised me how easy it was to forget about the much faster-paced environments many may be accustomed to in urban places. I enjoyed helping Pipsa in the kitchen from time to time and refreshing the skills I learned during my early days working in hotels and restaurants. The lake, on which the farm is situated, is also magical in every sense and translates from the Sámi language roughly as 'female spirit'. Indeed there is a spirit and an adventure to be witnessed. Don't leave without an early morning lake dip in winter — it's more than revitalizing. Kiitos!!!

I spent 2.5 weeks with Mary during the winter, and it was a really wonderful experience. Mary is a very kind, hardworking woman with a very warm and welcoming personality. She also has a very lovely and well-behaved dog. During my stay, I helped with light chores throughout the day. There is always something you can learn from Mary, and the overall atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed. We also had delicious dinners every evening, which we usually shared together. It was always nice to sit down and talk with her. She has experienced a lot in her life and can share many interesting things. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys being around horses and wants to spend a great time on a ranch. It was a truly enjoyable stay.

Marie has been helpful and easy going. She is experience working with dogs and we are so glad to have her around. She loves being around dogs and her patience towards them are impeccable. We wish her all the best and Maya will definitely miss her

Tania was truly invaluable. Her arrival was unexpected, so I think there was a period of emotional adjustment. She was very good at opening up, and on a practical level, at making herself useful in everything I entrusted her with. A tireless worker, she often goes above and beyond what's asked because she's very serious and responsible. I really appreciated her company and her availability during an important and delicate time in her life. She disappointed me in just one thing: she didn't catch the mouse!! 😂😂 Good luck, Tania, you deserve it. God bless you.

Estuvimos 10 días y nos quedamos con ganas de más! Fue todo muy lindo, Greg y Nat son muy generosos, amables y simpáticos, estuvieron siempre pendientes de dejarnos todo lo que necesitaramos para nuestra estadía. Y que no nos falte nada. Los días que estuvimos juntos compartimos mucho, nos explicaron detalladamente como cuidar de los patos y demás animales. Nos dieron de probar muchas cosas, compartimos con la familia de Greg, que fueron amabilísimos y también estuvieron pendientes de que no nos falte nada. El lugar es precioso, la tiny house a pesar de ser "tiny" es muy cómoda e ideal para parejas, y muy bien equipada. Gata y Paca son hermosas y se portan muy bien, (esperemos que Paquita se ponga bien y se recupere pronto). Ojalá podamos volver a visitarlos en algún momento de nuestro viaje... We had an amazing time at Luisa's place! We stayed 2 weeks here and it was a delight to get to know Luisa and all of her wonderful doggos! We did some work around the garden and helped out with the dogs and it was overall fun and easy tasks :) There were 2 other funny and great volunteers with us, so there were always great conversations and fun moments! Luisa took us multiple times downtown, gave us great advice about things I do and to see in and around Samaipata and we even did some wonderful excursions to rivers and waterfalls 🌞 We celebrated my birthday there with delicious cake! it was a wonderful day that I won't forget <3 Luisa is an excellent cook! I am very grateful that my first Workaway experience was spending two and a half weeks with Lucio and his family. They were incredibly kind and always willing to help with any questions I had. During my stay, I also gained many interesting insights into Portuguese culture and politics. Unfortunately, I happened to be there during one of the worst stormy periods in the Algarve, and I wasn’t fully prepared for the weather. So a small tip for future Workawayers: make sure to bring proper working equipment, especially waterproof boots for rainy days and working gloves. Lucio is a very knowledgeable person, and I really appreciated the many stories he shared about his journeys and the adventures he and his family have experienced. The scenery around their off-grid farm is absolutely stunning when the weather is good, and life there is simple — but in a very positive and peaceful way. I hope to come back someday and spend more time with them. All the best to Lucio, Natalia, and Luc — hopefully see you again soon!

Laura is by far one of the best volunteers we had at our Hostal! Very kind and professional, she adapted right away eventhough she didn't speak a lot of spanish at the beggining. She was always in the mood for sharing with our family and she explored a lot our beloved Valparaíso. Very punctual, easy going and fast learning. This work away is just amazing.... Everything fits the description : 2 mins from sea, isolated from the busy town, you 'll be living in your fully equipped own apartment in a beautiful wild environment. Work is straightforward and simple : We' ve been painting the exterior walls during our 5 week stay. One really good thing is that you'll be fully autonomous : 3 hours a day 5 days a week, or you can do everything in 2 days and have 5 days off. A dream. Rachel is a wonderful human being who constantly cares about your well being . As an example, I was supposed to stay 3 weeks but she kindly invited me for an additional 3 week that saved my life after having been ghosted by another host. She has million of projects waiting for you, so don't hesitate, go ahead. Communication is optimal, she is always there for you although she may not be here all the time, she responds instantly. Bikes are available to reach the center of the town which is 4 kms away. If you're into scuba diving, Utila is the best place to get cheap Padi Certifications, as there are plenty of professional diving centers such as Underwater vision for instance where my 15 yo daughter had a wonderful time. In a word, a WA place that I highly recommend. Best WA ever....

Anton is a great guy and was a great help for a number of weeks, mostly looking after the animals. He is responsible and dependable, friendly and great to spend time with. He worked really well with the animals and they appreciated his attention to them. I'd certainly recommend Anton who is a valuable workaway and a wonderful person, hope to see him again as the space here takes shape :))

Heiner was great to have around. He was very helpful, flexible, willing to do all the things we asked. The work he did - painting, helping in the garden, cooking - was all the a high standard. He lived through a period of 5 days without any electricity in a freezing cold house without any complaint. He was pleasant to have around, very well informed and an interesting conversationalist. We would welcome him back.

Erica stayed with our family for three months and it was truly a pleasure having her in our home. She is incredibly mature, responsible and thoughtful, and very easy to live with. During her time with us she helped with the house, the garden, drove our girls to school and activities, and became a wonderful role model for them. Over the Christmas holidays we trusted her to stay in our home for almost a month to look after our cats, plants and everything else, which she did beautifully. She is also an amazing cook (some of the best food we’ve had!) and brings such a lovely energy with her. Erica has a beautiful character and quickly felt like part of the family. We loved having her with us and would recommend her to anyone without hesitation. She will always be welcome back with us.

João stayed with us for a period through Workaway and it was a very positive experience for our family. He is a calm, respectful and easygoing person who adapted very well to the routine of the countryside and to the rules of the house. João was always willing to help and carried out the proposed activities with responsibility and dedication. Beyond the work itself, the cultural exchange was one of the best parts of his stay. We had many good conversations where he shared stories about Germany and his travels, and we were also happy to share a bit of our culture here from Rio Grande do Sul with him. He got along very well with our family and the coexistence during his stay was excellent. We are grateful for the time he spent here and for the positive energy he brought to our home. João continued his travels, but he left a very good impression on us. If he ever wants to come back, the doors of our farm will always be open. We definitely recommend him to other hosts! Jarno stayed home for a month, helping mostly with DIY projects, wood chopping and stacking, and fixing lots of things around the house. He has an impeccable work attitude, is very independent and industrious, knows how to take care of tools, and is well organized. Other than his skills, Jarno is a beautiful human being. Always attentive to me, the animals, and other volunteers, ready to give a hand when needed, enjoyable to be around. He made absolutely killer bread for everyone every morning, is clean and organized, and respectful of other people's time and space. We had fun going to the lake, kayaking, playing cards, and of course enjoying asados together. He will be missed around here!

Javier is the kindest soul, an angel at heart, he is happy to learn everything and anything that you want to teach him. He has a special heart for children and my son had a blast hanging out with him. Javier observes all the rules, he is polite, kind, clean and very sweet. We miss him!
