My stay at Miia’s was absolutely wonderful. From the very first day, they made me feel incredibly welcome – like part of the family. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the place itself is a beautiful retreat into nature.
The work never felt like “work” – especially the time spent with the animals. They are so well cared for and full of

Other tasks included heating up the sauna for guests, some snow shoveling, woodwork (there’s a big oven to heat the house), and helping with renovation work. Everything was super fair in terms of hours, and they were very flexible about when you could take your days off.
Miia has so many skills and is happy to share her knowledge – from fire-building, fishing, hunting, and cooking to general life in the north. If you're eager to learn about these things, this is definitely the right place.
What made the stay even more special was their deep connection to nature – it’s really inspiring. And although it's a peaceful place, we also had a lot of fun! Miia and everyone else are super open, funny, and just great to be around. We always had plenty of amazing food, and the apartment was warm, clean, and very comfortable.
Oh – and the northern lights! I saw them many times, and they were just breathtaking. There’s also so much to do in the area: visits to the national park, trips to Ruka, lake walks (the lake is beautiful!), and of course, the legendary sauna sessions. Don’t miss the ice swimming – such a cool experience!
All in all, Miia and the people around her are wonderful human beings, and I already miss them. I’ll definitely visit again!
I spent 5 weeks during the heart of the winter season and it turned out to be absolutely everything i had hoped it would be. Daily chores are well organized and consisted of filling the oven with wood to keep the house warm, feeding the animals, as well as milking one of the goats. On certain days, there is shoveling, heating the sauna, splitting firewood and other small chores such as keeping the stairs free of ice or helping in the kitchen. Miia and Pipsa combine to make the perfect team. Miia, the queen, is very youthful, tough, knowledgeable, encouraging and genuinely cares about her workaways. I also noticed it was very important to her that volunteers enjoyed their time on the property as well as days off and she was always giving recommendations. Pipsa is an absolute sweetheart. She was always open for conversation, loved to laugh and i had so many unforgettable shopping trips in town with her. Together Miia and Pipsa always checked to make sure we had enough food, that we had transportation on our days off and that the shared volunteer apartment was warm enough. They were both also always very gracious for help and frequently gave thanks. During your time off in Winter, it is possible to go to the national park, Ruka, ice fishing, or simply hang around the property. I was also able to enjoy sauna and swimming many times, as well as witnessing the northern lights on a few different nights. I completely fell in love with this place and i miss this place so much. Forever thankful for the experience.

We were allowed to be at this place for 5 weeks and it was a wonderful time. Even before we arrived, the communication gave us a great feeling.
Miia and Pipsa run their farm as sustainably as possible. Everything is done with love.

On the days off, we hat the option to borrow bicycles or were driven to destinations that were further away. Miia and Pipsa always gave us great and detailed tips on what to do on our days off, so that the whole time was an unforgettable experience. When the work was done, we were often able to use the sauna and play lots of card games with Miia and her sons. There were many times to shine ;)
We can only recommend everyone to come to this place and have these wonderful experiences. In addition, there are so many opportunities to come down in this place.
We wish you more shine moments in the future. We definitely have to return to bring the jam glasses back :).You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

We were very lucky to had the chance to host Anna-Leena and Matthias during their 5 weeks here at our place! They both are very easygoing, hands-on, kind, open minded and interested in the local way of life! They helped not only with the necessary tasks that needed to be done as workawayers. They always offered a hand to help with everything else

They feed the animals (sheep´s, goats, reindeer´s, dogs, cats, chickens, roosters and bunnies), milked the goats, build up hay rack for the reindeer´s, shoveled snow (a lot!) from the roofs and the farm, carried wood for the oven, helped in the kitchen, cooked in the evenings and many other things! We would love to host them again soon :-)
We were here in winter and were able to get to know the magical winter landscape of Finland. It was simply magical! In January and February it was sometimes as cold as -30 degrees, a very special experience! Miia and her mother Pipsa run the farm with a lot of passion and enthusiasm for nature. They are really passionate about what they do! They

The farm is very remote, there is no public transportation. This limits mobility, especially in winter. Occasionally they can give you a lift, e.g. into town. In winter, our main task was to look after the animals - preparing and feeding feed, distributing hay and unloading the incoming new deliveries and placing them in their respective storage locations, shoveling snow, putting away new deliveries of wood and adding wood to the stove. The hot meals during the day varied greatly in our time, so it's a good idea to be very flexible in terms of time and the food itself or simply make something yourself in between, for which there is always enough time. In between, we were able to enjoy Miia's cooking skills and were allowed to try different dishes.
We were able to use the sauna regularly and were even lucky enough to be able to use the hot tub after guests had booked it.
We ourselves stayed in the cabin, which is not equipped with running water and a toilet, but does have a small kitchen. That was great for us and no problem at all. Both are available in the main house next door.
We had a great time on the farm and would love to come again at any time and will do so ☺️

This was my first workaway experience and this was just the right place. Miia and her family will welcome you with open arms and you will get to hear a lot of funny stories. The work mainly consists of feeding the animals and renovations, nothing too difficult. You'll get access to a sauna and you can go for a morning swim in the lake. Miia is a

It was so wonderful! Miia and Pipsa are such kind-hearted people that this place felt immediately like home. You can learn so much about nature, animals and the Finnish way of life! I had wonderful weeks full of jokes, anecdotes and good food in the middle of a small paradise.
Even during the help there was a lot of joking so that the time

Thank you for everything! ❤️
I will always carry these memories in my heart and definitely come back! ✨️This workawayer has chosen to keep their profile private, but can be contacted regarding this feedback by other workawayers.
