The earth farm was my first Workaway experience, and it opened a world of opportunities and learning for me. Jodi is a true powerhouse of kindness, wise beyond her years at just eleven. There’s much to learn from this remarkable child. Diane, over the years, has become like family. Working alongside her in the marvel of her home has been a gift. Through her guidance and the many volunteers I had the pleasure of meeting, I gained invaluable skills and unforgettable memories. Diane has been the perfect host, making not only my first but also my subsequent Workaway experiences profoundly meaningful. I wholeheartedly recommend this host. The work and the forest are both rejuvenating, offering a glimpse into a world that, sadly, is fading—but one that leaves you renewed and inspired.

Find yourself on a sun drenched pontoon in Norway, among a sea of pirate ships and sailing boats. It’s a warm morning with a cool breeze and someone’s made a pot of coffee. There’s egg lumpas to be eaten and endless giggles to be had, whilst someone strums a guitar. Dave has created a little cocoon of warmth and freedom to be at ease as yourself here on the project. His passion for the project and it really shows; this is a place where authenticity and curiosity are in the air. Heart full of gratitude for the time I had here. A beautiful blip, a chance to step outside of social structures and bubbles you were once consumed by. An opportunity for perspective, and then some…more perspective. I was so creatively inspired and energised by those around me, and there’s a beautiful generosity in the community here to teach and share. I leave the project with so many gorgeous, eternally random and hilarious memories. I have a newfound curiosity, appreciation and interest in old sail boats #jib, a beautiful friendship, a packet of lumpas in my bag, the art of the dumpster dive in my skillset, and a sun kissed grin from what just happened. Aaaaa the magic, the beauty, and consistently put… the eternal randomness of this wonderful place. Dave, big big hugs for you <3 This project has given me incredible friendships & connection, so much laughter, and so many memories that I will cherish. The people that come to join this community span from all walks of life, mixing into this fabulous concoction of characters! The work is ever changing, but always promising of trying something new and learning new skills, boat terminology, and new tools. Nights spent on the pontoon or by the fire are filled with song and laughter. The bins provide us with endless delicious foods and fruits and many wizards in the kitchen keep the crew well & deliciously fed. This place is a harbor for creative folk and I loved how welcome creative projects and endeavors were. The skill share happens from every corner! Thank you for everything that this time brought, thank you to Dave and Mason for making this place possible and so so so so so enjoyable. If you are looking for adventure, called by eternal randomness, ready to seize the day, and GIGGLE, this is for sure the place for you. Come here to be excited by what life has to offer and you will be deeply pleased. Thank you tight squeeeezeeee!!

Marta fue una voluntaria 10/10 en todos los sentidos 💛 Desde el primer día mostró una actitud increíble: fue muy organizada, proactiva, responsable y siempre estuvo dispuesta a ayudar en lo que fuera necesario. Se adaptó muy rápido a todas sus funciones, ya fuera en recepción, limpieza, jardinería o apoyando al equipo en el día a día. Siempre hizo todo con mucho cariño y con una energía muy positiva. Pero más allá de su trabajo, lo que realmente hizo especial a Marta fue la persona que es. Ella no vino simplemente a hacer un voluntariado, sino que terminó siendo parte de la familia. Se integró con el equipo, con los huéspedes y con todos los que compartimos el día a día con ella. Es de esas personas que hacen la diferencia: alguien en quien puedes confiar, que ve lo que hace falta y toma la iniciativa sin tener que pedírselo. Siempre aportando, siempre con una sonrisa y con una muy buena disposición. Estamos muy agradecidos por el mes que compartimos con ella. Dejó una huella muy linda en el hostel y estamos seguros de que será recordada por muchas personas que tuvieron la suerte de conocerla. Gracias Marta por tu trabajo, tu cariño y por convertirte en parte de nuestra familia. Te vamos a echar mucho de menos y esperamos verte nuevamente pronto 💛🌿

Nichola and Nigel were super :) I can't thank them enough for their maturity and independence - exactly what I need here. They worked together and separately on loads of different tasks. They were happy to tackle a wide variety of different jobs and were not fazed by anything I asked them to do which is wonderful for me. Worldly, well travelled and full of positivity. They gave me 100% of their muscle and energy...on the land, in the house (cleaning, cooking etc.) and were great company too. I would highly recommend them to any host to whom they might apply in the future.

Truly felt like a family, best hostel I’ve ever stayed at in my life, so I am very grateful to have had this experience. Reception work was easy and chill and so fun to chat to all the guests. Would highly recommend salsa classes with Vyonne! Bunk beds are comfortable with a small fan that blocks out any noise so sharing a room is no problem. Wish I didn’t have to leave. Plenty of hammocks to chill in during the day, and a safe neighbourhood. Daily activities every day. If you’re extroverted this is the place for you. Thanks for everything Jose.

If you're lucky enough to stay with Andrew, come prepared for some of the best food you'll ever eat. He truly cares about quality, real ingredients, and where food comes from, and it shows in every meal. My experience was short, but it was more than enough to leave a lasting impression on my heart. The atmosphere was welcoming, peaceful, and relaxed. The work was fair and manageable, and one thing I really appreciated was Andrew's ability to understand the needs and strengths of each person in the group. He communicates clearly and directly, which creates a supportive environment where everyone knows what is expected and feels respected. Andrew is incredibly intelligent, and if you enjoy meaningful conversations, you'll never run out of things to talk about. One thing I've learned is that if you understand and respect his rhythm and way of doing things, you'll get along wonderfully. The land itself is beautiful. I camped by the river, and it was a deeply healing experience to fall asleep and wake up surrounded by nature. And the neighbors were the cherry on top! I love children, and I had so much fun playing and spending time with them. Thank you, Andrew, for opening your space and sharing a little piece of this Sacred place. It was a beautiful experience, and one I will remember with gratitude. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic Workaway experience with good food, good conversations, and a genuine connection to nature. 🌱

What an awesome girl Julietta is! Super funny, super happy, super ready to help. And she’s better as a volunteer! Responsable, smart and very helpful. Having here here was very good and we will reccomend her 100% for ever!

Nadia was an exceptional volunteer who joined our summer camp for two full seasons. During her time with us, she became an important part of our team and made a lasting positive impact on both the children and staff. Her experience working in summer camps was evident from the very beginning. Nadia was responsible, patient, creative, and highly dedicated to creating a safe, engaging, and enjoyable environment for the campers. She built strong relationships with the children, encouraged their participation, and always brought positive energy to daily activities. Throughout both seasons, Nadia consistently demonstrated professionalism, adaptability, and strong teamwork skills. She worked well with our international staff, willingly took on responsibilities, and was always ready to help wherever needed. Her enthusiasm and commitment remained strong throughout her stay. We truly appreciated having Nadia as part of our camp family for two seasons. Her contribution was invaluable, and we would gladly welcome her back in the future. We highly recommend her for any volunteering, educational, or youth leadership opportunities.

Florian arrived after cycling his bike for 6 hours that day. From the following morning until the day he left, Florian helped with weeding, painting, cleaning the pool, and working with Lawrence in various tasks. It was a pleasure to host him on his frist workaway experience. Florian is respectful, skilled, eager to learn and great company. Any host would be lucky to host him. Florian is welcomed back anytime.

While travelling through the area, we messaged last minute to ask if we could come and volunteer for 12 days. Everyone welcomed us with open arms, and we really felt like we were a part of the community from the moment we arrived. The help around the hostel varies day by day, based on your skill and preference. As my partner (Kurtis) is quite handy, they asked us if we could please help them with the chickencoop. So from day one we had a mission: the chickens! After helping around with the daily tasks (such as cleaning and helping to make some cakes), we've spend time making a new home for the 7 lovely ladies. In the evenings you help with the dinners, which gave us the opportunity to meet new people and hear different stories. And eat all of the amazing food. A special thanks for the lovely Lillith, Ramona and Franscesca for being so welcoming. You can feel the love they have for the place the moment you arrive. We will miss you guys 🧡

Harry was a first class excellent Workaway. He went above and beyond what i asked of him. He's kind and polite. Very consiencois and thoughtful. We had great conversations covering a huge range of interesting subjects in science philosophy biology and meta physics. Harry has a beautiful singing voice. We had lots of fun making music. Thanks Harry. I'm sure our paths will cross again.

David and Jurgen are two fantastic people. I shared so much with them and had a wonderful time together. David is an excellent cook and has a very creative personality, capable of infecting you with his smile. Jurgen, meanwhile, manages to capture your attention when he talks about his life and adventures. The work isn't too demanding and depends on your skills. I highly recommend this experience for anyone who wants to spend time in contact with nature and share their experiences with wonderful people.

Paul est une personne agréable à vivre, autonome, compétent. Nous espérons qu'il a progressé dans l'apprentissage de la langue française comme il le souhaitait. Nous avons, nous même pu tester notre anglais :-) Merci Paul!

Laura and Max are one of the loveliest, most proactive, and happiest couples you could ever meet. We are so grateful to have had them here with us over the last few weeks. They treated everyone with kindness and positivity, and everybody around was genuinely happy to have them with us. They were also incredibly efficient workers, bringing a lot of organization and structure to areas where we were lacking. They helped us so many times by going far beyond their responsibilities. In fact, we often had to tell them to stop taking care of things because they were always looking for ways to help! All the physical work was completed efficiently and to a high standard, and they paid close attention to every detail to make sure everything ran smoothly and naturally. We never had to remind them about anything. They were always focused during work hours, highly responsible, and extremely trustworthy. And Max developed some truly impressive machete skills while he was here! 😄 We will miss you both very much. Thank you for everything, and we wish you many more amazing adventures ahead. Keep enjoying life and having fun, guys!

This is truly a safe place for rescue dogs. Jazmin and her Thai team are so dedicated and hardworking. I'm glad I could take part in a meaningful project such as this one. I met great people and fell in love with absolutely every dog at this place 💗

Jim and George were absolutely amazing! They helped us in every way possible. They are both very calm, friendly, and easy to get along with, which is especially important in our place since there is a lot of customer interaction and, in the end, it feels like a small community. They consistently went above and beyond their responsibilities, and we truly loved having them here with us. They are the kind of people who naturally connect with the vibe of the place wherever they go. Both are highly skilled with manual work, very proactive, and always willing to help. We rarely had to tell them what needed to be done because they were always one step ahead, identifying what was needed and taking initiative. They are also extremely trustworthy! 🙂 We highly recommend them to any host and would be happy to welcome them back anytime. We are so grateful for all their help, and we wish you both all the best, guys!

Maja and Christian are so great. They always brought me along for their adventures and took care of me...they made fresh, quality meals from the garden, taught and played board/card games with me, gave clear instructions about given job tasks, and told me great stories. I especially appreciated our time cycling to local spots and swimming in the rhine together. They went above and beyond as they helped me with train tickets, bought me medicine when I got sick, showed me unforgettable sights, allowed me to use one of their bikes to explore, let me use take their tent to go to Interlaken, took me to nature club, got me a Stork with my name (she is flying to Kenya soon!) and many others great things. They were very giving and gave me tasks that I enjoyed. Their two cats, frog, and 5 guinea pigs were so cute. There were always cute animals running around. They taught me about growing my own produce and how to make bread. I learned a lot. I look back fondly on my time with Maja and Christian, even if it was just 10 days. Be prepared to cycle and swim a lot, you will absolutely love this workaway experience!

In March, during my cycling trip through New Zealand, I stopped for two weeks at Brett's house, and it was a fantastic experience. The house is on a hill near Akaroa with incredible views. The work was varied: chopping wood, pruning olive trees and vines, and there was plenty of time for excursions in the surrounding area. I shared the house with Philippe another Workawayer, and we had a lovely single room. The food was very good, especially when Brett's partner cooked. Brett is very hardworking, friendly, cultured, and speaks several languages ​​fluently. I still remember the delicious pavlova and a wonderful gift that came from the sky: an aurora australis! Marvelous! Thank you, Brett.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Filipa and Laurence. They are both kind, respectful, and exceptionally dedicated educators. What impresses me most is their commitment to preparing thoughtful lesson plans for every class and their ability to adapt effortlessly when unexpected materials or requests arise. They have a natural talent for teaching children, making learning both engaging and enjoyable. Their patience, professionalism, and genuine passion for education create a warm and positive atmosphere where children feel comfortable and motivated to learn. I would also like to commend their maturity and reliability. As I regularly travel to Bangkok to accompany my father to hospital appointments, I have entrusted them with staying at my home. They have always been responsible, considerate, and completely trustworthy, giving me great peace of mind. Filipa and Laurence are truly wonderful individuals and outstanding educators. I am deeply grateful for their flexibility, dedication, and the positive impact they have made on the children. Thank you so much. Wish you all the best :)
