Hi to everyone !
I'm a friendly and open minded mature man who has recently bought a cottage near to Gorge du Verdon National Park.
The spectacular gorge is one hours drive away. For experienced cyclists it is a lovely day-trip.
PROJECT UPDATE 2021 :
I have an ambitious (and fun !) project for the 2021 season...
I'm creating a workawayers 'village' for you to have your own special place to hang out and have fun. The project involves the following :
*Building small individual styled wooden cabins as workawayer accommodation. You can bring your own creative ideas onboard this project !
*Constructing a large hexagonal wooden pavillion which will be used as a communal kitchen and eating area, (initial construction has begun).
*Transforming an old stone basin (4 sq mtrs) into a colouful chill-out bathing pool.
*Building a giant swing from one of the mature trees.
*Creating a workout/gym area. I already have the weights/ bars etc.
*Building a small wooden roller coaster, (rideable !!!). This is the craziest and most ambitious project and will take several years to complete.
* Also, I'm looking for help with growing of fruit and vegatables and help with strimming and cutting bushes.
*Bicycle Repairs and maintainence.
* And Fitness coaching... I'm trying to lose weight !
I ask for a maximum of 5 hours help per day/ 5 days per week in exchange for your own private accommodation, (in the caravan, little stone cube hut or wooden chalet...see photo's) plus meals and moderate amounts of wine/beer.
You are responsible for preparing your meals and doing the washing up. The cooking is shared on a rota basis. I will cook for you chilli prawns/ indian or thai curry,(or something similar) twice a week.
A typical daily routine is :
Breakfast until 9:30
9:30 - 14:30 work period, (5 hours)...before the sun gets too hot.
14:30 - prepare and eat lunch. The rest of the day is yours to relax, go for a dip in the river or explore the surrounding area !
If you have the following qualified skills and are a "PROFESSIONAL" > WELDER > SPECIALIST DRY STONE WALLS > ELECTRICIAN > SOLAR AND WIND ENERGY > PLUMBER > BRICKLAYER > TILER > ROOFING SPECIALIST > COMPUTER PROGRAMMER Then I may be able to offer you modest payment, (TO BE NEGOTIATED BEFORE YOU ARRIVE). I will want to see certificates and references.
An english friend will be joining me some of the time and he can assist you to improve your spoken english.
I speak fluent german, english and french.
PLEASE NOTE : I provide you with clean towels, bed-linen and have a large variety of work and casual clothes for you to wear + shower gel/ shampoo and toothpaste so you can travel light !
I do not provide mosquito repellent spray or sun protection so please bring it with you ! Also, it may be a good idea to bring protective footware for swimming in the nearby river, (the river bed is stony).
Please note : Internet access is limited to one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening, (through my airbox). Please ensure you have plenty of mobile data.
I do not tolerate heavy consumption of alcohol ! Only moderate amounts of beer and wine are provided and accepted.
To join me you need to find your way to Les Arcs/Draguignan railway station or the town of Le Muy. I will collect you from there.
Because accommodation is limited and I tend to be get overbooked in summer, it is essential that you contact me in advance so that I can reserve you a place !
Here's a guide to whether or not you will fit in with staying here :
* If you are totally dependant on using your mobile phone throughtout the day... * If you have a problem with the heat working during the day... * If you have a problem with mosquitos and bugs, or mice and rats, (all provence houses in the countryside have them)...I have 2 cats, but they cannot catch every single mouse... (if you clean your room daily and do not leave crumbs on the floor there will be less ; ) * If you are a fussy eater, (I'm a green person who does not like wasting food, so I tend to buy seasonal fruit and vegatables and special offer food that is close to its sell by date) - I have been hosting for years and have never had any cases of food poisoning or upset stomach. * If you are reliant on local shops and cafes, (the nearest supermarket 40 minutes drive and the nearest cafe/brasserie is a 7 km hike).
* If you are reliant on alcohol
* If you require accommodation with en suite toilet/bathroom and air conditioning...
...YOU WILL NOT FIT IN...
Please ensure you have full medical travel insurance, (it's your responsibility !)
