Truly enjoyed having Lucie ! She was helpful , understanding , flexible and friendly. We went out to the country and did some exploring of some of the unique places in EastTexas and Fort Worth . She cooked and was willing to help around the house . 🏠 . I would recommend her highly and she will Always be welcome here . I hope we can reconnect when I go to Europe again !!! I was welcomed into the family with open arms and immediately felt right at home! I helped weed the garden and helped take care of the puppies their dog had just had. It was truly such a special experience with such a wonderful family. This was my first time as a workawayer here, but it won't be my last :)

Phoenix and her partner live in a beautiful place in Yarra Valley, right in the bush and by a little river which was great for cold dips! Phoenix is a gracious host and has a lot of wisdom and skills to share - I was fortunate enough to be there during one of her workshops and it was incredible to experience her expert facilitation in full flow! And deeply powerful to participate in as well. The working arrangement was very good, it involved various tasks on the land including planting, chainsawing firewood, weeding and cleaning the brumby paddock. The brumbies are beautiful creatures! Just be prepared for mosquitoes and the slightly rustic off-grid conditions - but if you love nature and are ready to embrace a down-to-earth lifestyle with a few less city comforts you will have an authentic and enriching time here.

Sasha and Steve were honestly wonderful to have stay with us and we were very happy they came. Their skills were perfectly suited to what we needed and they both brought so much value during their time here. Sasha created a YouTube and Instagram video for Sam’s hunting and adventure tour business and the final result looks incredibly professional. She has a great eye for content and storytelling and really understood the feel of the business. Steve has strong permaculture knowledge and experience and did a fantastic job pruning our fruit trees while also sharing useful advice and ideas along the way. They were both extremely flexible, helpful, and easygoing throughout their stay. Sam and I had to both leave out of town for work, and they kindly agreed to house and duck sit for us while we were away. We came home to a tidy property, and very happy ducks. It was really nice to have someone that treated our place as if it was their own and left things better than when we left. They are both mature, respectful, and very easy to get along with, but beyond that they are genuinely interesting people with a great story and outlook on life. We really enjoyed the time we did get to spend with them and it honestly felt more like hosting friends than Workaway guests. We would absolutely welcome them back anytime and highly recommend them to any future hosts.

Tanya is a special person in the best sense of the word. These 3 weeks of my first Workaway went by so fast! She's an incredibly active, fun, warm, and open-minded individual. Seriously, she's that kind of fiercely independent "cool granny" who has a gym membership, drives a truck (and a cabriolet!), and juggles several projects at once! She just loves staying busy and productive. The setup was appealing: flexible working hours (leaving plenty of time for Texas exploration), having the freedom to cook whatever I liked (with a fridge that was always packed), and clear instructions. She even showed me around at the expense of her own free time and provided tips for other spots to check out. The tasks were diverse and sometimes challenging, including some more unique stuff like woodwork (sanding, drilling, painting...). I got to work around her cosy house and garden in Fort Worth, as well as her rural property in Piney Woods (East Texas). Plus, I got a better feel for West Texas when we attended her nephew's graduation. We had some meaningful conversations, I learned a lot, and I got a real insider look into Texas life (meeting a bunch of her close friends definitely helped!). I felt at home around Tanya. I can truly call her a friend and Fort Worth a place I'd love to come back to. Highly recommended! :)

Staying at the Buddhist Centre was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately there weren't retreats during my stay, so I hadn't much "cultural" or spiritual exchange. Nevertheless Chowang and Kate gave me and my fellow workaway-ers the opportunity to attend some teaching classes. The temple is beautiful, and you should physically be fit as the work can be "hard" mainly because it's a lot of hours doing the same type of work (raking, gardening). You prepare your own dinner, sometimes there weren't many fresh veggies available, but there was always enough of frozen meals. It was a good experience. As the next busstop is quite a walk away... having your own car gives more flexibility to explore the area.

This was my first Workaway experience, and it was amazing. The time I spent in the house was incredible; I made friends very quickly and they made me feel welcome from the very beginning. I’m very grateful to Jaime for all the time we shared together — he was a very generous and kind host. Thank you for accepting me into your team. I was the first fully Mexican volunteer on the team, and it was such a beautiful experience adapting to new cultures with the other workawayers. I was also able to practice my English, meet people from different parts of the world, and enjoy the house during quieter times when there were no guests. I especially enjoyed the morning coffees and movie afternoons. I’m taking with me many memories and experiences that I will appreciate for a long time. The work in the house has both busy and quiet seasons, but everything is well organized and there is flexibility with schedules and free time. I also appreciate that they listened to suggestions and kept improving the house. The internet is fast, which is great if you work online, and there are many things nearby. Querétaro is one of the safest cities, and you will learn a lot if you enjoy exploring and meeting new people. Thank you again for welcoming me into your team. It was a wonderful experience, and I will remember you all with a lot of affection.

I spent two really enjoyable months at the Language Academy. The school is located near the centre of Puerto Ayora, which has lots of advantages. Carol was also very quick at responding to any queries I had leading up to my stay. Ale and Paulette were also very helpful during my stay and I'm very grateful to have had them there. For four hours a day, you have your own classes, which means you get to know your students well rather than just assisting other teachers (this I really valued). I'll definitely miss my classes. The only thing I would recommend is to think about whether you can see yourself living in Santa Cruz for the amount of time you have agreed to stay, as those who enjoy the beach, the outdoors and the heat are likely to enjoy their time more than someone who's keener to visit museums and wants a lot of variety.

Annie was an awesome person to host, she's so positive and professional. Everyone enjoyed her company and she's a top notch helper. We highly recommend her to any host!

What an amazing time we had. Spending the past 3 weeks with Lee, Gayle and Cyrus has been an absolute blast. The Sunshine Coast is such a beautiful place and waking up to the Marina sea views each morning with Cyrus visiting us and searching for food was a joy. Our tasks included splitting and stacking firewood, helping Lee with his stairs, cleaning cabins with Gayle, digging holes, levelling out and adding many rocks to create a boat rack! We are privileged to meet such amazing people including Lee and Gayle during our trip, but also met some of their lovely children and families which gave us a real feel of what Canadian families live like! We were fortunate to be taken out to Nelson Island and on some Sunset Cruises which were so beautiful. We joined Lees daily dog walks where he took us on many local trails and was a great tour guide! In the evening we had fun playing games with Gayle and their children when they came over! Gayle is a great cook and made us so many tasty meals. In our free time we hiked some local trails, kayaked, stand up paddle boarded and explored the local area. There’s so much to explore. We honestly had the best time and can’t thank you enough Lee and Gaylee for including us in your family and taking good care of us!

Liane and Violet were wonderful Workaway guests. They are lovely, peaceful, friendly folk who went above and beyond the call of duty in attending to the tasks that I gave them. Liam is a great cook and made some really creative dishes with the produce from my. They were both a real asset to our household and I have no hesitation in recommended them to other hosts.

I had an amazing experience staying at the sanctuary. Anne and Geovany are really nice and welcoming people, I felt at home right away, and was sad that I could only stay a month. The sanctuary is a perfect place if you want to connect with animals or take some time away from busy cities. It was nice to share meals and take turns cooking. The food was always great (and vegan, of course.) I also had a chance to practice my spanish and learn about Nicaraguan culture. I had the best time with all the animals, I miss them already. If you like being outside and doing farm work, I would 100% recommend going to the sanctuary. It is a really special experience to watch the horses run so freely, and live so closely with all the animals.

Remy was a godsend at a time where we were getting ready to go on holiday. We didn’t think we could get everything crossed off the list but then there was Remy. He is so capable to turn his hands to anything and beyond. He will not just do the job you ask him to do but also anticipate the next steps. Remy helped getting the garden ready for winter, move furniture in the house to get things sorted as well as organising the garage, unloading and spreading silage and many more tasks. We enjoyed Remy‘s company. He is a good communicator and he has a great sense of humour. He paid attention to the house rules and looked after his area really well. We do hope that Remy will return one day and that we get to use his artistic side a bit more.

Neele is so kind and she is always ready to help. She does each of her tasks done perfectly. She loves animals and being in the nature. She took Chico my dog every day for a walk. Chico was always happy around her. We baked a delicious lemon cake together. Wish you all the best for your journey Neele.

Oscar stayed with us for about three weeks, from around 7 May until 25 May, and it was genuinely a pleasure to host him. First of all: lovely dude! Oscar is calm, kind-hearted, collaborative, grateful, and very pleasant to have around. He was eager to help out, flexible where possible, and always willing to contribute while also balancing his other obligations. During his stay, we shared both the good moments and the more chaotic ones, which made the experience feel very real and memorable. We worked together in gardens, and sometimes that was a lot of work! Oscar handled it well and was always willing to help. He also helped with some minor house improvements, and I am very grateful that he was able to fix the sync issue on the DJI drone as well. On top of that, he managed to get the Chromecast screen sharing from my Chromebook to the smartboard working, so everything is now functioning as intended. It was honestly really nice to finally get a few practical things done that had been waiting for attention. Oscar also got to witness a very Dutch moment when we had a clash with a rude bystander who was almost ready to report his host for no good reason. Unfortunately for Oscar, this meant witnessing two Dutch people yelling at each other, so he involuntarily learned quite a bit of Dutch cursing. Sorry Oscar, hahaha. His stay was also a good opportunity for him to improve his English. At first, he was worried that his English was not good enough, but honestly, it was perfectly decent. Of course, he may not yet feel fully comfortable speaking English in the same relaxed way as I do, but I saw real growth. If he maintains this level, I think his English will be more than sufficient for 95% of the situations he will encounter in life. One funny memory was the “onion incident.” Oscar thought he had pulled an onion from the garden, and from the distance where I was standing, it looked like one too. So I enthusiastically said: “Great! Throw it in Scootie and we’ll eat it tonight.” A day or two later, my wife prepared it, and let’s just say we discovered it was definitely not the best idea. Whoops, hahaha. A memorable lesson for all of us. All in all, Oscar is a good guest and Workawayer to have around. I wish him all the best with his world travels. India in particular is probably going to be a shock and a half, haha, but I hope it will be an amazing experience for him. I am happy to have been his first host, and I sincerely hope I left a fantastic first impression on him as well. Thank you, Oscar. And if you ever want to come back to us, feel free to hit me up!

Despite her young age, Sophia immediately showed very good working skills. We mainly asked her to help with painting a house and taking care of small finishing details, and she always did the work with great care and dedication. She also helped us with babysitting, and our children really loved playing with her. We had the pleasure of sharing a meal with her, and she prepared a German speciality for us, Kaiserschmarrn, which was a lovely moment together. Sophia also joined a painting class with Manusch, and it was truly very pleasant to spend time and exchange with her. She was always respectful, polite, kind and easy to have around. It was a real pleasure to host her. We warmly recommend Sophia to other hosts and thank her sincerely for her help and presence!

I had an amazing experience in Morocco with Sara and Yassine- it’s hard to put into words how wonderful it was! I was teaching Yoga most days on a beautiful terrace and I loved being able to teach as the sun was setting with views of the ocean. I also enjoyed being able to deepen my own yoga practise as well as meeting such amazing people along the way- some of whom I’m still in touch with now! I also enjoyed learning how to surf and going to the beach most days was a dream. The whole experience was so smooth from start to finish. I felt at home from the minute I arrived and everything was explained well in terms of what was expected of me. If I had any queries or questions they were quick to respond. They made my first workaway experience truly memorable and I will be forever grateful. I’m hoping to return someday to see everyone again! Thanks again to both of you and the whole team 🫶🏻

Richard and Aurelie are a very nice couple. Polite, quiet, friendly and eager to integrate and learn the work. Mature minds with a great work ethic. They were a great addition for the farm.
