Description
Welcome to our Gård in Sweden! We are a family from Germany who took the bold step of starting a new chapter in Sweden in 2021. Our daughters only stay with us occasionally, one lives in South Korea and our teenage daughter goes to school in the nearest city where she lives during the week. Four years ago we purchased this charming farm that had been worn down and made it our own project. Our farm is on the edge of a small village located directly at a lake where we go swimming in the summer and you can go ice fishing in the winter. With dedication and love, we transformed the once cluttered rooms and overgrown woods into a now cozy home. We love history and try to preserve a lot of historical things, which means a lot of love for detail. Through renovations, clean-outs, and hard work, we have already accomplished much. Nevertheless, there are still ongoing tasks and challenges ahead, which we would like to tackle together with you.

Our Gård is located in a charming Swedish village nearly Stugun which is an international community and a very special place to experience. Here, people from all over the world meet long-established Swedes. In this community we help each other with our personal projects that bring our place to life. Here, you can experience the Swedish life, go fishing, resting at the bathing place, go hiking, and so on. At home, Evelyne can teach you how to cook healthy nutritious food and Andreas can teach you all about practical work around the farm. The village offers practical amenities. A small store is available for errands, there’s a church, and a historical site in the village which adds a unique touch to the village and attracts visitors. Our neighbour is a level 2 Wim Hof instructor who can also help you with a safe ice bathing experience. If you want to be part of our journey, we look forward to hearing from you. Let's enjoy the country life in Sweden together and learn from each other!

Help
Your role as a Workawayer would be to assist us with everyday tasks and bigger projects, which always vary. This includes for example feeding our chickens, helping paint our houses, cooking meals together, foraging, and supporting us working in the forest. There is still a house to renovate and 10 hectares of forest where you can find many new projects like a boatshed etc. so there is always something to do. Your practical help would not only help us to further beautify the farm, but also create an enriching shared experience through which we can get to know each other, learn from each other, and exchange ideas.

We can offer you three different housing options:
1. You can move in to the guest rooms of our main house and become a close part of our family life. In our main house we have two rooms with a queen size bed which has room for one or two people.
2. If you need more private space, you can also move in to our guest house which would be your own, it is right next to our main house. There, you have a double bed and if needed, a bed in the living room. It has all you need- a kitchen, bathroom with a shower, etc.
3. The third option is to live in seclusion in the stuga and get a flavour of life in the 19th century.
We suggest you to have breakfast with us to start and plan the day together. You are very welcome to also cook dinner together with us. Since we will cook on our own, it is possible to cook what we like with or without meat. We are unfortunately not able to provide a vegan or gluten-free diet, but you are very welcome to take care of that yourself and we are happy to try your recipes. What else ...
Our guests have the opportunity to go fishing and sailing on our boat. We have a nice shopping area in town, a famous haunted house and a café that you can walk to. There is a bus connection to Stugun and Östersund. But our guests prefer to relax at the bathing area.
We have a cat that also lives in the house.
