Description
Hi Workawayers!
We love the cultural exchange opportunity. Our home is yours too. In exchange for some family help, gardening, some help with the animals, bit of light housework, coming with us to the beach or staying at home to housesit and pet sit and maybe helping on our other farm on the weekends. We will invite you to be part of our family and provide three meals a day and superior accommodation. Stay for 2 weeks or 3 months! Whatever works with your travel plans and fits with your idea of workaway life.
We are a family of 5 with pet animals and big house and gardens. We live in the countryside. We always appreciate a bit of help around the place. We enjoy sharing our experience of this beautiful country and learning from you about yours.
You will have a gorgeous double bedroom with your own private bathroom, with so much comfort and beautiful views as well as a good experience with an NZ family. The children all go to school, Dad works and Mum studies.
We have two horses, a cat, dogs, rabbits, a goat and lots of space in the countryside.
If you are not in NZ but have a great plan to come here, get in touch, we love having travelers living with us and are happy to host you if you want a safe and happy family host. We are not looking for a slave. We welcome you as a family friend.
We welcome both short term and long-term help. E mail anytime.
Big home, Lots of room. We are tidy, organized and busy. Rural life but close to the town of Masterton. Our nearest city is the very cool Wellington. So we are not isolated. 8kms to Masterton.
We have bikes. A heated in ground swimming pool, a spa pool/jacuzzi. Nice quiet roads to run or walk on. We live next to the river we go swimming there in summer. Gorgeous walks in the countryside all around us. We have wifi. A large parking area and generally a lot of space to share.
The scenery is spectacular! 360' views.
please message us if you would like to come. I can tell you more then.
Thanks

Different tasks for different times of year.
*****At the moment for late January and early Februaury it is mostly help maintaining the outside property and weeding. ******
In the spring time there is lots of gardening and some house sitting and pet minding when we are away.
Its help like gardening, walking the dog, tidying house, feeding pets.
In winter, bring inside the firewood, light the fire, keep house warm, check animals, help feeding pets.
If you like kids, you are welcome to help with the children and mum can do the other jobs. (kids all at school during the week)
On the weekends you can come and help at our sheep and beef farm which is in a different town.
The tasks vary from season to season. So it’s easy jobs like walking the dog, tidying house, laundry, feeding pets and gardening.
Someone who just fits into our way of life, becomes part of the family.
If you want to do 5 hours a day 5 days a week that's cool or we can be flexible and make it 3 hours a day 7 days a week, it doesn’t matter, whatever plan suits you and us we can work out. We are chill.

The guest room is peaceful, sunny, warm luxurious with your own private bathroom and amazing views from every window. The house is modern, spacious and beautiful viewing over the whole countryside and hills. Friends have very large farm nearby for awsome walks. River next door and our own pool for swimming.
What else ...
Our area is popular for mountain walks, camping, swing bridge, beaches, lighthouses, vineyards and wine festivals (very good wines) and farming. There’s skydiving, horse riding, quad biking, claybird shooting, yoga, Pilates, fishing, surfing. (To get to the mountain walks you will need to drive or cycle, the bus does not go to the beach or mountains). Lots of rivers. The town has a great park nice for picnics, with a lake and easy walks. There’s a pool, library, post office, cinemas, museum/gallery, info centre, supermarkets, cafes, shops....everything you need in a town. Population 27,000.
There are four busy towns close to us and Masterton is our nearest (8kms), the capital city Wellington is just 90mins drive away. Or there is a train to Wellington from Masterton.
The beaches are 45minute drive from our house (if you have a car). There is no bus to the beach. Lovely river to swim in nearby in the warm weather.
From September to May we have nice weather. (17-39') lots of festivals and outdoor lifestyle events. Quiet time is from june to august inclusive, it is winter (4' -15' ) and can be wet and cold. Everyone hibernates and there are no public holidays in the winter!A little more information
