Andy and Libby were absolutely fantastic to have in our home. They are both so knowledgeable and helpful and brought so many skills and qualities to our house. Absolutely godsmacked at the wonderful results of the reroofing on our pergoda and Libby also did a great job in the garden. Such quality workmanship and they made a great team together. We loved listening to all their stories and life adventures over the dinner table and they were such great company - the highlight of my day as I was recovering from a foot operation. We really appreciated their kindness. Wishing you all the best Libby and Andy in your next adventure :) Fhi and Phil

We would have adopted Zoe if we could! Not only is she everything you want in a workaway - conscientious, hardworking, great company, thoughtful and caring - but also a genuinely lovely , soulful person to have wonderful conversations with. A joy. Sad to say goodbye 🥲

Pearlynn and Hiroki showed up in a very special week and with a very special task: preparing a big birthday party (including a circus show)! It was an incredible week and the party turned out to be a big success, also thanks the patient work of this wonderful couple. There was a lot of garden cleaning up involved (in the hottest month of the year!) , a rather boring job they did without complaining; many many thanks. We ate a lot of freshly picked cactus figs and chatted about travelling, cultures and the differences between living in a city and living out in nowhere land. It was an amazing und unforgettable experience for me as well.

I stayed with Micê for a week. It was a very short stay, but I truly enjoyed every moment of it! About the tasks: I helped with maintaining her beautiful garden, providing some tech support, doing a deep clean of the house, and cooking some simple Japanese dishes. The tasks were clear and enjoyable to do. Beyond the tasks: Micê took me to some wonderful places, including spot with a beautiful sunset and a scenic ocean view, as well as local shops I had never been to before. I also had a great time going on a light hike with her and her friends. Plus, I had the chance to visit downtown and enjoy the beautiful streets of Victoria. The flowers there are absolutely stunning—it’s a must-see for anyone reading this! About the host: Micê is cheerful and kind person. I was so happy that she shared many stories about her family and friends, and told me about all the things she loves about Japan. She also has a very calm and lovely dog, which was so comforting to be around. I highly recommend staying with Micê to anyone looking for a peaceful and enriching Workaway experience in a beautiful, serene environment!

I had the opportunity to stay in this lovely eco-village in Maleny and it was truly an amazing experience. I met really great people there that led me to many beautiful opportunities and genuine connections. Andrew is very passionate and a natural leader. He’s going to introduce you to his world and he is deeply committed to the things that matter to him. He involves you in the community life and even the local council life sometimes, so there is always something new happening. It was really interesting to witness people actually living this alternative lifestyle. Andrew built everything himself with the help of the Maleny community. From an old dairy farm, they created a peaceful eco-village trying to live in the most authentic and sustainable way possible. You can also count on Tammie to teach you a lot about this alternative lifestyle, from making laundry soap to learning about the plants and the garden. She is very wellness-oriented and you can have many interesting conversations with her on all kinds of subjects. She really felt like a mum during my stay. She’s very caring, supportive, and genuinely interested in wellbeing and personal growth topics. I would definitely say: go to Confest if they invite you, you probably won’t regret it. You’ll have wonderful conversations about all kinds of subjects, from light topics to deeper ones. You feel very free there, free to wander around and never pressured in any way, which I think is a really good point. Introvert or extrovert, just be yourself. People care about you and give you space to express yourself. Everyone is super relaxed and caring. The jobs we had to do were very diverse and versatile. You can definitely learn new skills if you want to. Everything really depends on what is happening at the moment. Just yeah just go !

We (Tuur, my partner and me) had the most wonderful time at Margo's place! She is so kind and welcoming. We had our own room and private bathroom. The tasks were very varied and everyday was different. She was very flexible and always open to make it work both ways. She showed us around Beautiful Willunga and helped us with some connections to find some paid work too. It was a pleasure staying at Margo's, and meeting all her lovely family and friends, we never had a dull moment. Margo really feels like family for us! Thank you again for your warmth and happiness during our stay!

Staying with Mahesh and his family for three weeks was truly one of the most special experiences of my life. From the very beginning, they welcomed me not just as a volunteer, but as part of their family, and by the end it genuinely felt like home which is why I even came back to visit them again during my last days in Sri Lanka. During my stay, I helped at the English school, mainly by speaking with the students and supporting them in practicing conversational English. It was such a rewarding experience to get to know the students and see their motivation and kindness every day. I also spent a lot of time playing with Amee, Sanuth and Himath, who I already miss very much. They brought so much joy and energy into every day. I also got along very well with the whole family, especially with his wife Rosemarie, and always felt included in daily life and conversations. One of the most meaningful parts of this experience was getting such an authentic insight into Sri Lankan culture and family life. Of course, there were many things that were handled differently from what I am used to at home, but that made the experience even more educational and enriching for me. I learned so much through these differences and really appreciated being able to experience another way of life so closely. I was also lucky enough to celebrate the Sri Lankan New Year with them, which became one of my favorite memories from the trip. I shared sooo much delicious food, met many of their friends and relatives, and was welcomed everywhere with incredible warmth and generosity. They truly made me feel like a real member of the family. I am very grateful for everything they shared with me- their home, culture, kindness, and time. I can highly recommend this Workaway experience to anyone who wants to experience genuine Sri Lankan hospitality and become part of a caring and lively family:)

Ralfy is one of the best people I have ever met. My time in Puerto Rico was truly special because of him. He made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Helping with farming, gardening, and other daily activities was a healing and meaningful experience for me. Despite my lack of gardening skills—and the trouble my dog and I sometimes caused in his garden—he was always patient, kind, and understanding. I will always appreciate his generosity, consideration, and the comfortable environment he created. This is one of the main reasons I wanted to leave a review, even though it is much later than I intended. Thank you Ralfy and I miss you so much!!

Mara and Tobi were such great helpers! They really helped me on so many levels. They took care of so many personal chores and tasks I need help with, and I could really rely on them. Both of them are intelligent, considerate, kind hearted and have great sense of humour :) We did a whole bunch of various household tasks, and they did a full through cleaning and organizing of my garage and barn. They think of things ahead of time and cared about me and the rabbits and chickens and my Kitty, and of course they kept an eye on the buffalo, and let me know when Chester smashed a gate and flattened a fence and got into the pasture next to their cabin peeking in their window :) They made wonderful delicious dinners, and they made me a huge batch of really tasty buffalo bone broth, and froze it so Ill have a year’s supply. The two of them are a blessing on anyone fortunate enough to host them. I hope they come back one day. They are always welcome here!

I got to stay with this lovely couple for a week and enjoyed every bit of it. Maryam and Ali were very kind and always made sure that I felt comfortable and had everything I needed. The work in the garden and walking the dog was enjoyable, and I still had plenty of free time to explore the area. I also appreciated that they included me in their activities and made me feel welcome. Thank you again for the great experience!

We couldn't have been happier with Cassie during her time staying with us at the sanctuary. She is super reliable, extremely competent, helpful, and highly perceptive - always noticing and tackling extra jobs that need doing without needing to be asked. Cassie genuinely loves the animals and consistently goes out of her way to ensure they receive the best possible care. She gets along incredibly well with everyone else, and was an absolute pleasure to have around. We give her our highest recommendation to any future hosts.

Chika is and amazing person who has lived an amazing life. Travels around Europe South America sailing South east Asia and van life in Japan. After all this she has ended up in an outstanding wonderful place and if your lucky to come here you'll see why. The projects I got to work on were fun and she really does listen to your input on how to achieve the goal. Chixculub was an incredibly special time for me. I was seeking a place to practice Spanish, immerse in culture, and find some peace -- arriving in Chicxulub honestly felt like a hug. Don Hector provided a home away from home, along with knowledge upon knowledge of almost everything really. I feel very blessed to have learned maya culture, traditions, and language from Don Hector, Don Feliciano y Doña Juanita. Thank you Don Hector for giving me a home (that I hope to return to soon!) and for being a legend teacher! You inspire me!

We really enjoyed our experience in Lucy's place !! The garden is very beautiful. The biodiversity is amazing. In 5 months of trip, we didn't find a place with as many different insects, butterflies, wasps and bees. But no moskitos, which is great 😂. The work was simple, mostly wattering since it was end of dry season, plants needed so much watter. Also cleaning the garden and the field. And painting and protecting the wood of the new home for the volunteers. Going to the market to sell some honey too. There was 2 workers most of the time, very nice to speak with, to practice spanish. We could eat as many mangos as we wanted, enjoy some eggs from the chicken, tasting the honey from the 5 beehives. We could visit the surrounding in scooter, which was nice : San Juan and quite a few amazing beaches along the road. Too bad we didnt know how to surf ! Lucy is a really nice person, we enjoyed our time with her, her 2 kids and the 2 lovely dogs. Well, could only recommand to come visit her place !

When I first read the description of this mission, it was worded in such a way as to lead one to believe that there were numerous programs in place for the purpose of instructing the indigenous young people. I was excited about the prospect of being able to help in these programs. Sadly, that was not the case. These programs were not in existence. From my understanding now, this is the mission directors dream to have several programs in operation in the future. Be prepared to be monitored in most things you do…. Including boiling pasta and mopping the floor. William is a good cook and I appreciated the few meals he prepared for us. He is however, EXTREMELY particular about his kitchen, so be prepared for frequent schooling. Also, there is NO hot water in the kitchen, therefore it is a challenge to keep things CLEAN. There was often a very nasty smell in the kitchen. We had only one shower available for 9 people. At least half the time, there was no hot water in the shower. No lock on the shower door, very small shower stall with spiders hanging out above one’s head. Kevin (the director) is kind and loves the indigenous children. Clear communication toward volunteers seems to be lacking and the result is frustration all around. For this reason, Kevin lost his temper and yelled at a few of the volunteers:( Upon arrival, I was graciously given a room to myself. In spite of this, the room was not furnished with a closet or drawers. The place is dirty (one bunk room smelled nasty and we found large feces in the closet). If you have a BIG heart and can put up with these things, the place needs LOTS of help.

Although Alina and Timo were only with us for one week, they made a wonderful impression. They quickly got involved in daily life and project activities and showed genuine enthusiasm in contributing however they could. They were friendly, considerate, and easy to host. They assisted with maintenance and outdoor tasks on the property, joined our community painting projects, outreach, and created a fun activity for our sponsor students. We appreciated their willingness to serve and their positive presence during their stay with us.

Our first Workaway experience and I think we got spoiled. We spent six wonderful weeks with Leo - an incredibly wonderful person, whose calm and kindness made a lasting impression on us and who placed a great deal of trust in us- and saying goodbye was genuinely hard for us. The buffalo ranch, surrounded by mountains, the river and the most beautiful night sky, is such an amazing place. Leo has built something really special here, a place to unwind, switch off and be completely surrounded by nature. It really feels like escaping the everyday life. We slept in a self build cabin with a big, comfy bed and we got lucky, the buffalo’s were on the pasture right in front of our cabin for a couple of days, so we woke up and saw them outside our window, what an experience :D. When it wasn’t the buffalo’s, it was all the deers and goose, which spent almost every evening on the property. Helping here here did not even for one day feel like real work! You quickly learn that on a ranch there is always something that needs fixing and that you often have to improvise. Leo included us in everything and was always happy about suggestions and we often brainstormed together. We were allowed to decide on our own when we wanted to start in the morning and what task we wanted to do first. As we were here in April, it was mostly typical spring-cleaning work: we raked leaves and gravel, got the RVs ready again for the other helpers arriving in summer, organized the workshop and basement, took care of the rabbits and chickens, helped Leo feed the buffalos and did many other things that come up in everyday life on a ranch. After work, we always had plenty of time for ourselves — we could work out or go for a run along the beautiful river, sit in the sun and read, we often played Catan with Allison and Berni, two other helpers, or had campfires in the evening where Leo entertained us with his guitar, singing and fascinating stories from his life. We left with tons of good memories, but one highlight was definitely a baby buffalo that was born during our time there, and it was so wonderful to watch it grow stronger every day and run across the pastures with the herd.

I had an amazing stay in Fukui. The family is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and Midori made a real effort to introduce me to the local culture. During my stay, I went to various events, held English cooking classes, volunteered at the Eiheiji tempel and got to meet so many sweet people. My work was all from cleaning dishes, to holding English events, to being with the kids (they are the sweetest!) Midori was also so kind to drops me off different places and I had plenty of time to explore Fukui, (also with the bike). Thank you so much for opening up your home to me and letting me be a part of your lovely family. Such a memorable experience. You have really made Fukui a very special place!☺️
