    Description

A brand new eco village community is starting in Maleny, Queensland. The site is simply beautiful and we're enjoying the process of transforming it into a place where people can live in harmony with nature. The property is a short walk across the Showgrounds to the heart of Maleny - a wonderful, artistic, tourist town, known for its 'co-operatives'. It has a library, hospital, police station, public transport to Brisbane, post office, cafes, restaurants, galleries, shops, parks, the neighbourhood centre and community events. We are looking for people with skills, energy and creativity. Andrew, Claire, Pen, Joerg and Mischa are the friendly, positive people living at the site. We are vegetarian and we love wildlife.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

There are opportunities to learn about permaculture, syntropic cultivation, building, house painting, rainforest regeneration and setting up an ecovillage community. We can also show you how to prepare our favourite meal recipes. We can exchange English language lessons and discuss Australian culture, politics, history, etc. We also want to learn from you. We are particularly interested in learning about eco villages and intentional communities from around the world and environmental building techniques.

    Help

Every day is different here. We have fun and carry out the work with love. We are removing invasive weeds to restore the rainforest, planting a permaculture food garden and re-building an old house. There are many skilled and un-skilled jobs for people of all backgrounds. Jobs may include pulling out weeds, painting walls, general tidying, cooking, gardening, making signs, etc. You can experience what it's like to live at a very small eco village that is just starting out with a long journey ahead.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

As we are in the start up phase of our project, we have no habitable buildings for visitors at present, so overnight visitors will need a tent or camper van. We may be able to lend a tent if you need. There is a small shell of a tiny house which is not finished and is currently being used as storage. This could possibly be re-purposed as a sleeping space if you need.. We have a great outdoor kitchen. We will provide all food and share vegan meals together. No cats or dogs are allowed on the property as this is a wildlife sanctuary.

Maleny is a wonderful town to visit. There are many natural sites such as Mary Cairncross rainforest reserve, Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World, waterfalls, scenic walks and lakes. The lovely town of Montville is great for a day trip. There is public transport to the historic town of Landsborough, Brisbane and the beaches of the Sunshine Coast.
