Description
We are a non profit organization that serves impoverished children and families in Guatemala. We build homes for the homeless, feed the hungry, teach self sustainability and provide education pathways for children and youth.
We are located in a small village about 1.5 hr south of Antigua Guatemala and 30 min north of Monterrico Guatemala. *FYI if you are traveling from Antigua Guatemala to El Tunco El Salvador we are right in the middle along CA-2.*
We recently moved from town to a 5-acre rural property with 60 mango trees. Mango season runs from March to September (depending the year), so we need help with harvesting and preparing the mangoes. During the heavy rainy season (July-October) we need help in maintaining and pruning the mango trees. Alongside that, we have various construction, yard cleanup and self-sustainability projects, including a community garden and a chicken coop that we need maintenance and help taking care of.
We also sponsor children and provide English lessons for both them and our staff. The English lesson for our sponsor children are on Fridays, while the short lessons for our workers are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday Morning. Once in a while we organize different service projects to support the local community.
Our staff are local Guatemalans while I myself am from the States and my wife is from Switzerland. We are a Christian faith- based project. However, we have had volunteers from over 17 countries and received individuals from all paths of life! Everyone is welcome here! Join the team!
For the month of September we are looking for house and dog sitters. Please reach out if you are specifically interested in doing that!Types of help and learning opportunities
