    Description

    Hey, Im Ale.

Not the owner but the one (besides our three dogs) who is living here!
This project was born from the idea of taking advantage of family land and directing our energies towards achieving the goal of living in a more sustainable, simple and resilient way.
We have been working the last year on maintaining the house and property, starting practices on soil improvement, mushroom production, and some food garden beds, among other things.

This town has a limited water supply so I ask the volunteers to take care of this resource as much as possible. Make use of the dry toilet (it is important that they are aware of whether they will be comfortable using this system) and avoiding daily showers.
As for food, the idea is to cook and eat together during work days. These days I'll buy food, any ideas for meals are welcome. On the days off, each one is responsible for their food unless we agree otherwise here.

Personally, I want this space to give each person a place where they can feel calm and have enriching experiences. I traveled the last year volunteering on Canada and México and I keep those memories whith love.
We are looking for people who want to learn by experimenting, that's what I do, and who know how to work as a team and also on their own. I am interested on having an exchange with volunteers who can be comfortable doing things on their own at times and in a calm rhythm of life.

The land is in a small town outside of El Chico, the first national park in Mexico. If you like hiking, climbing / bouldering or discovering natural areas, this is the place!

    ----

    Hola, soy Ale.

  • Help

    Help

We are expecting to start some construction in the next few months, including an outdoor toilet to be able to host campers and have workshops in the summer. Also, develop a trail/climbing experience to offer to our guests (we host people in one room of the house on bnb).

I'm currently working with only one/two volunteers, and the help that I need is mainly in daily tasks like:
-taking care of the animals (dogs and chickens)
-working in the garden, the compost piles, and mushroom growing.
-help with cooking and keeping the house.
-recive and atend guests if needed

    -----

    Accommodation

Right now it's a shared room for Workawayers inside the house. Two bunkbeds!
The idea is to cook together but probably you may have to prepare your meals some days. (I will provide the food for the days of work. Please be aware that I don't consume meat during the week.)
As this place has no government water supply, I always try to encourage visitors and volunteer to use the dry toilet and save water as much as possible.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The town where we live is very simple. You can find shops, bakery and
    the basics.
20 minutes by car or truck, is Pachuca, the state capital.
Also there are several "pueblos mágicos" nearby.
Like I said, there is a National Park right next to us. Many places for hiking, climbing, fishing, and even a "Vía ferrata".
You can use a bike if you like in your free times and on the weekends you are welcome to join if there is any plan to go into the woods.
I like to share time and experiences with people as much as I like sometimes to have my own space for training, chilling or learing (or watching movies). I´d like you to feel the same freedom if you are around here!
