I just realized that I didn't leave a feedback for Zoe and this is a shame because she deserves it. Zoe is a wonderful person and we were very sorry to host her ONLY for two weeks. Due to a last minute cancellation she found herself here alone but after all she adapted and she integrated in our daily life. For few days she asked the permission to invite a friend she knew traveling, friend who was as good as her, meaning Zoe chooses wisely her companionship. Zoe is the kind of person who makes you want to meet her parents; she’s polite, respectful, intelligent, and proactive, so she must have been raised in a very positive environment. Zoe please come back if you are going to pass nearby and I hope that this review, even though came late, can be useful for your future adventures.

Celine was the absolute embodiment of dedication and grace. While most might seek a moment of rest, Celine possessed an inexhaustible drive, always focused on maximizing her impact and refining her teaching schedule with a curious, proactive spirit. Her commitment was truly a sight to behold. I watched in awe as she navigated her bicycle toward the local primary school under the blazing sun, elegantly draped in a sari. Managing a bicycle in such intricate attire—which is nearly as complex as a Japanese kimono—was a masterclass in poise and determination. She threw herself into village life with an infectious passion. Whether she was: Engaging in a lively cricket match with the local boys in the evening. Bonding deeply with the girls in her host families. Immersing herself in the community during her walks through the village. Her professional versatility was equally stunning. She transitioned seamlessly between teaching intimate, high-quality French lessons online and leading large, high-energy English classes. The children absolutely adored her, and the results of her "productivity" were written on their smiling faces. In a final, beautiful act of generosity, Celine donated her high-end Dell Latitude i7 laptop to the Academy, ensuring a deserving student would have the tools to follow in her footsteps. Celine is a volunteer who simply does not recognize the concept of exhaustion. Her enthusiasm is boundless, and her sweet smile never wavered for a second. She has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we truly hope to welcome her back someday.

Lili is wonderful. During her two-week stay with us, she was always enthusiastic about tasks we gave her, did an incredibly thorough job of everything & she was an absolute delight to have around. Lili is very mature & independent, with an open, intelligent, curious mind. We had many enjoyable evenings together with lots of laughter! It was very easy to communicate organising her stay with us, we would happily have her back again & would readily recommend her to anyone else.

I had a fantastic three weeks here with Adrien! My placement was in March, and my work mainly consisted of cleaning and organizing the hives, and preparing and cleaning his farm and honey processing room for the upcoming season. I found it all to be quite pleasant, and Adrien did a great job at giving me opportunities to try out other types of work as well. These included building a door, planting a garden, trimming trees, and picking up sticks, among others. He also always gave me the offer to come with him to see other parts of his operation, which I really appreciated. Even though I had no prior experience with beekeeping, I feel that I was able to actually help, and now I’m even considering getting bees of my own! Adrien himself was a great host. He was super generous, providing a breakfast and lunch any day that I requested it, and he let me try all seven types of his honey and his brother’s mead! He is very flexible with the work schedule, and was willing to accommodate weekend trips spilling over into Monday. I was staying with Adrien in his Grandparents’ AirBnB, which meant that I had a private room, queen sized bed, showers, a washing machine, and a fully equipped kitchen at my disposal. One small note is that this is not necessarily the most sanitary/clean placement to ever exist. Adrien doesn’t wash his hands, I was the only person who ever sweeped, and dishes frequently piled up until the sink was overflowing, though the dishwasher was always available to use for my own dishes. I was able to get along fine with this, but occasionally it bother me. He also smoked occasionally, but it’s just pure tabacco (not a cigarette), and he was always sure to check with me first and to do it next to open windows or in other rooms behind closed doors, which I greatly appreciated. We also were practicing language with each other, and he was incredibly patient with my broken French. Frequently he would also have to repeat instructions in English after I didn’t understand the French, which was greatly appreciated 😅. He also taught me how to meditate and aligned my chakras, which was fun. Broadly he is pretty busy after work hours, so I would recommend bringing a book or two for your stay. His family and workers were also super fun and accommodating to be around, and his Grandpa’s dog Jessie is the best! The area of Condé-sur-l’Escaut is great too. I had a great time exploring the forest and countryside nearby. There isn’t a whole lot in the way of big cities nearby, but on weekends I had a super easy time getting to Mons and Bruges, and the local train station is easily accessible and Brussels, Amsterdam, and several other cities are within a two hour ride. There is an Aldi’s and another small, local grocery store nearby, and they pretty holistically covered my needs, but we would occasionally drive further south to go to a larger store. Overall I had a great time here, and I wish that I could have stayed longer! I really felt that I got to see and understand the whole process of honey production, and it was inspiring to see how much Adrien cares about his work. If you want to learn about a very unique type of agriculture in a very fun and pleasant environment, give Adrien a shot!

Eva really embraced our project. She had fun both at work and during her free time. She tried to be as Moroccan as possible and even did Ramadan. She likes to bring new ideas and socialise with the people around her. She will be remembered for her Chinese cooking class. You left good memories Eva!

This is a super cool workaway experience, and I do recommend it for those who want to experience real Thailand and contribute to local community. First of all, the whole team is very hospitable and friendly, they really care about volunteers and will try their best to take care of everyone. During my stay, the work is mainly about preparing for play festival in Buriam. There were sufficient team members so everyone just shared reasonable workload. For cultural exchange, they would bring volunteers to local market and restaurant. Also I had the precious opportunity to see a special event in the nearby temple. I had a great time at this place. Thanks 🙏

Both she and her daughter were friendly and good company. Lucie is energetic and interested in everything. We loved having them to stay and hope to host them again in the future.

Tom is such a kind and pleasant person. He consistently gave his best effort on all tasks and daily chores, and he built great relationships with the other volunteers. I'm truly glad we had the chance to meet him. Hope to see you again sometime!

It was definitely one of the best experiences of my life, and I thank Samuel and his family for making it so. Samuel, Lucy, and their children were my second family; they filled me with love, and I think I can never thank them enough. The organization is sincere, the intention to help the less fortunate is honest, and the work I did with them brought real results to the community. Kanoni Town is quiet, a safe and welcoming place where I'm sure everyone can feel at home. I personally left my heart in the school in Kitwei village, but I'm sure each of the volunteers develops a connection with different places. If you're looking for a culturally enriching experience that also allows you to help disadvantaged children and communities around the world, I'm sure this is the right choice. I will always cherish the memory of this trip, and I owe a lot to Samuel, Lucy, and their family, who made me feel at home from day one to day two. I'm so happy to have discovered the beauty of Uganda and its people.

Staying with Samo and Florrie was a true pleasure. For two plus weeks, I got to experience relaxed farm life in charming Tlayacapan. I was very lucky to have arrived during Carnaval to see that the village/town itself is a hidden gem with its own distinct character. Getting to/from CDMX and nearby towns is very easy with all kinds of buses and mini buses. The work was primarily focused on taking care of the hundreds of chicks that were being raised on the farm, which is the main activity right now. At least two daily shifts to ensure they have enough food and water and that they are in good health otherwise. Other work included all kinds of cleaning and maintenance tasks around the farm and rental house. The schedule and work flow differently from day to day and Samo and Florrie are very flexible and laid back, which makes the overall ambiance very welcoming and it's something I truly appreciate. Only shortly prior to my arrival, the rental house (aka main house) had been turned into the new volunteer space. It's spacious, private, and has a great kitchen which we made great use of. Every now and then, the house is rented out to guests, in which case volunteers would move up to one of the other rooms next to the hosts. The space there is also very nice and inviting. Each of the six dogs and two cats has a personality of its own and they all certainly shape a big part of the experience, e.g. opening and closing the main gate is always a thrill to everyone :) What I will miss the most is the great conversations and meals we shared. Volunteers provide for their own food, and I and the other volunteer at the time prepared elaborate dinners almost EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. We shared several of those meals with Samo and Florrie and Sasha (long-term resident) who also shared several of their meals with us. We had tacos, huauzontle, pizza, focaccia, and LOTS of sour dough bread. The kombucha project was on hold for a while, but by the time you arrive, it will likely have returned to being a regular beverage on the dinner table. Enjoy a glass on my behalf! P.S. If you're at this place and Sasha is around, make sure to kindly ask her to give you an intro to Tai Chi. It's a subject she clearly cares about, knows about, and is good at teaching. If only I'd arranged for my session with her earlier than my very last morning. But I'm grateful for it all the same.

Edwina, Ian and the family are the most welcoming and caring people, and I definitely recommend anyone who’s thinking about staying with them to do it! The help was pretty straightforward with garden work, cooking and best of all playing with Willa :) The accommodation was great as well, and the food was always plentiful and delicious. I also got the opportunity to help draft the sheep, which was pretty cool to be part of. Aside from that, good walks, nice crew to socialise with too and overall just a unique Aussie outback experience. Thank you very much, can’t recommend this workaway enough, and definitely a place I wouldn’t mind comming back to :)

Maruschka is one of the best helper I've worked with. She's kind, and easy going during the 10 days stayed in my farm. Although she doesn't have much experiences of farming and natural building, she's keen to learn and get the hang of it pretty fast. We also had good time on language exchange, cultural exchange, a couple of good games on chess😉, and I am soooo into the mulberry crumble that she made from farm to table. She's is a good cook. Thanks to her, many of the projects building projects have been finished just right on time, meanwhile she took a good care of the chicken and ducks. All in all I would highly recommend Maruschka to any hosts would need a helper.

Volunteering for Tomas and Patricia at their farm left is with very mixed feelings. The farm and area are really beautiful, the cabin offered is basic but very cosy and clean. Animals are cute and the garden is well kept and impressive. After arrival we were welcomed by the family and 2 other young volunteers. We came with a lot of enthusiasm and hope for a valuable, enjoyable and enriching time together with this family, especially after reading a lot of positive feedbacks and having great written communication with Patricia prior our arrival. We were very excited, because hosts daughters are the same age as ours, and overall interests shown on both of our profiles were very similar. The moment which cooled our enthusiasm down for the first time, was the second evening.Tomas read us the list of "rules". This list was probably written based on their previous, good and bad experiences with the volunteers and it supposed to prevent some situations to happen again. This is a great idea, but the way it was introduced was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. It shown hosts one - sided approach, leaving volunteers with impression, that the only reason they are there, is the work for the hosts. The main priority are hosts expectations: respect for their privacy and family time and not overusing their hospitality - mainly food and Internet (the only place where wifi is available is the host house and it's immediate surroundings). Regarding the work in incoming weeks, that evening we have been asked to help between 9am and 2pm Mon-Fri. The tasks planned were: work around the garden (improving tomatoes support in the greenhouse, watering, weeding, compost) animal care (chickens, ducks, horses), firewood cutting and home tasks including cooking and cleaning. We tried to ignore the initial impression and worked next days with enthusiasm and effort. Work was generally OK, but there was a lot of time pressure, high level of control even and simple tasks and for most of the time we were patronised. Despite that, we still tried our best at work, always putting a lot of heart and ideas into each task received. Lunch was agreed for 2pm every day, but was usually delayed and after helping with dishes and cleaning after, our afternoons became very short. Additionally, there was a lot of expectations from the host side to get involved in some afternoon and evening tasks (mainly around the animals). We tried to be present around, hoping for some more conversations and the opportunities for both of our families to spend time together and enjoy each other's company. Unfortunately, it always ended up with a question about additional help. At some point this pushed us to take step back and start spending a free time away. The host daughters had few games and activities with ours but in general they were very shy and avoided us. This situation progressed to the point, when they stopped even say simple greetings and few times we were asked to leave the host house to allow their daughters to have breakfast. As we are workaway family, we believe we should teach our children, that they suppose to get involved in small tasks too. They are very happy if they can help with meals preparations, dishwashing or work and play with animals. We did the same thing this time and their help was greatly received . But slowly they started to be asked for more and more help, when the host daughters were staying in their rooms enjoying their own time. Cultural exchange elements of this stay we enjoyed and valued, were: the trip to the local fiesta (host initiative) and the cooking workshop evening (our initiative). Both took place in the first week of our stay, when 2 other young volunteers were still present. After they left the things became more steady and quiet. The farm is away from the nearest village so without the own car we were dependant on the host. For this reason there wasn't too much occasion to go away. We enjoyed the walks in the area and the closest beach by the river. Because of this in week 3 we expressed the wish to spend the weekend away. Tomas and Patricia seemed to be enthusiastic about that and tried to help us to organise the activities. Finally we decided to stay in village of Palena from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening. Unexpectly, upon our return, we have been invited to the house for a talk, where we have been asked if we could leave one week earlier than agreed. It was explained to us, that another volunteers are coming and they will need a space in the cabin we are occupying. The new volunteers supposed to stay in the tent, but Patricia and Tomas explained that the weather may be cold and wet, not suitable for camping. They also told us, that they can't host so many people at once again, as last time it was too overwhelming for them. We were totally surprised and not prepared for anything like this. We were in the process of planning the next steps of out trip trough Chile, but the plans were not fully specified yet Therfore we responded, taht we have nowhere to stay yet, and it may be very difficult or not possible to leave so soon. The answer was, that actually it wasn't a question but demand, and we have to leave by Friday (which left us 4 days to organise ourselves). It was the moment when the atmosphere became very hard and tense. Despite the first thought, that maybe we should leave immediately, we finally competed the last few days of work with Tomas (Patricia and the girls were away). Something like that never happened to us before and we were not sure how to receive it. We decided to follow our rule of being fair to the very end and we finished all started project, cleaned the cabin and left like nothing would happen. After some time we decided we should describe our experience in the feedback, so maybe it will leave some thoughts with this host and will be helpful for other volunteers planning to work with them in the future. We take it as a great life lesson and we still are faithful enthusiasts of Workaway, it's values and the opportunities it brings.

A really nice couple with two lovely kids! After the 4 hours of work, you can take their bike and ride into town or down to the beach. They were really kind and even helped me find a few paid jobs with some of their friends, so I could earn enough money to join the snorkeling tour to Lady Musgrave Island without dipping into my savings.

We really enjoyed our time with Rachel and Paul. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome, and we shared lots of delicious meals and great conversations together. One of the highlights was picking fresh produce straight from the fields — tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, pumpkins, chilies, and of course their incredible corn. Seriously, we still can’t stop talking about that corn… farm-to-table at its absolute best. The work was flexible and varied, which made the experience both enjoyable and rewarding. We also loved learning more about their famous pickling and relish range. We even got to help cook some batches ourselves and as promised we’ll keep the recipes a secret. Beyond the work, we really appreciated the time spent together. We went on a fishing trip, enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, and felt lucky to experience life so close to nature. Thanks again for such a memorable experience!
