It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to have the opportunity to stay with Rima and Dennis for what was meant to be two weeks, but they kindly let me stay for an extra week and a half due to a slightly silly incident on my part (gentle reminder: don’t drop your phone down a long drop toilet!). I was so grateful for their flexibility and kindness. From the moment I arrived at their beautiful home, they made me feel comfortable. They are full of personality and humour and also a super close knit family. It was really special to see their values lived out so naturally and carried through the generations. There is no doubt Rima is incredibly knowledgeable about Māori culture and was always happy to answer any questions, which made our dinner conversations really enjoyable. I really enjoyed the chance to learn more and be part of such a welcoming community. They were always clear and helpful when giving work, and I got to experience a range of tasks. I appreciate that they helped me learn a lot through the tasks they set me, and I have them to thank for why my CV is so full now 😆. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Ngā mihi nui, ka kite anō!

Lorena and Damiano were an absolute joy to have with us! They brought such positive, vibrant energy and were always ready to jump in and help with anything that needed doing. It truly felt like a real cultural exchange. We had so many beautiful conversations and learned so much about each other’s cultures and ways of living. Even without a shared language, the kitchen staff and everyone on the farm connected with them so easily. We were honestly so sad to see them leave so soon. The place feels quieter after they left. We really hope they come back one day! We can highly recommend them to other hosts without hesitation. They are kind, hardworking, respectful, and bring wonderful energy wherever they go. And special bonus: they made the tastiest homemade pasta from scratch!

Órla is a most kind and overwhelming person I ever met. I mean she modestly influenced my life and my project. I seriously think she deserves to lead people to new great life in future, like people should listen her very humble opinion on questions of life. I really appreciated the time we spent together. House and apartment are shining, my mind is cleared, my soul is calm. Thank you, Orla , have a great trips and you are always welcome in Almaty.

We spent the most incredible week with Kristy, Danny and Billy. They could not have been kinder or given us a better experience. We shared some great times together joining the family for waka ama, fishing, play centre, kiwi walks, and lovely meals together. We were so sad to leave!! The work away tasks were really varied which was great. Spending time with Billy was a joy. Would highly recommend staying with Kristy, Danny and Billy. They are a beautiful family with huge hearts.

Our time at the farm was a very positive and enriching experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and truly part of the family. During our stay, we learned many valuable things about organic farming and daily work in the fields, while also gaining a deeper understanding of rural Indian society and local culture. It was a meaningful opportunity to experience life from a more authentic perspective. We also built a beautiful friendship with our host, Vennella, whose kindness made our stay even more special. We stayed in a lovely and very clean apartment and greatly appreciated the organic food provided to us every day. Sharing volleyball games at the end of the day with the other workers was a lot of fun and created moments of genuine connection and community. Our stay was truly significant, and we are sincerely grateful for this wonderful opportunity.

Working on David's beautiful piece of land has been an amazing experience. The farmstay, the surrounding landscape, and the great work environment make this an ideal workaway for anyone looking for something that is off the beaten track, deep in nature, and a strong sense of community to learn and offer their skillsets. There is an abundance of good vibes, with projects in construction and renovation work. Best of all, you get to meet Almer-the coolest celebrity dog in town! Highly recommend David and his space to all!

Amelie is such an easy girl to be around with. Since the very beginning, we had good communications, arranging the dates, arrival and tasks. She is very skilled and eager to learn new practical tasks. She has good experienced working with different tools, she is not afraid of getting her hands dirty and definitely not afraid of the cold winter! She stayed witu us for 3 weeks showing commitment and responsibility to the given project, and being always respectful to us and the house. She helped us mostly with plumbing tasks, building shelves in the chicken's house, install underfloor heating and build a floor. We experienced her stayed as a good balance between socializing and private time. Amelie is a reliable, open-minded and hardworking person, and we highly recommend hosting her. Welcome back anytime! :)

Roberto and Francesca stayed with us as Workaway volunteers and it was a truly positive experience. They helped us with household tasks and quickly became a reliable presence in our home. While we were away, we entrusted them with the management of the house and the main responsibilities. We left a list of tasks to complete, and when we returned everything had been taken care of exactly as requested. This gave us great peace of mind. They are kind, friendly, and very attentive to domestic work. They showed care in what they did, and they were always willing to learn when it came to tasks that were less familiar to them. We found that they work especially well as a team: together they are organized, supportive of each other, and able to handle responsibilities smoothly. We appreciate their help and wish them all the best in their next experiences.

Allan and Jessie, From the very first day, we felt that hosting you was something special — and now we can truly say you were the best volunteers we’ve ever had. You brought not only your hard work and commitment, but also such positive energy, maturity, and openness. You worked with strength and determination (digging foundations and moving rocks is no joke!), but also with curiosity and genuine interest in everything around you — from the goats to the art studio to Polish culture. What we appreciated most was your attitude. You never complained, you were always engaged, and you brought calm, intelligent conversation and good humor into our home. You blended into our daily rhythm so naturally that it felt like having old friends visiting rather than volunteers staying. Franek really enjoyed spending time with you (and yes, crashing his birthday party will be remembered 😄). Even the corgis seemed to sense your good hearts. Thank you for your respect, your work ethic, your flexibility, and for truly being present during your stay. You helped us physically with many projects, but you also gave us something much more valuable — great memories and meaningful connection. If every Workaway experience were like this, the world would be a very beautiful place. You will always be welcome here. Adam, Anna & Franek

What a great two weeks!! Petra and Russell truly have a heart for others (as is evidenced by their overflowing guest book). I've missed Woolworth's brick building and breakfast trivia questions dearly since departing from Oamaru. Why can't every Workaway include those? As far as the work itself goes, days were structured pretty consistently, and the work was never grueling--mostly weeding in their sumptuous garden and a doing few odd home improvement tasks. Meals took place at the same times each day, too (Petra makes the best chili I've found in all of NZ). What really made this Workaway that much more special was the care Russell and Petra took in helping me play tourist. They took me on multiple driving tours (Russell really could monetize this, I'm telling you!) and a day trip to Dunedin as well as advised me on my solo adventures in the Oamaru/Duntroon area. They even let me tag along to that month's meeting of the Central Otago Garden Club, a true local event. I recommend this Workaway without reservation!! :)

Kana visited me for a week, but her kindness warmed my heart for longer. She was caring and attentive to Bogyó's needs as well as my preferences and she quickly became good friends with Bogyó. She even learned some Hungarian words to make him feel at ease, which I'm certain he appreciated :) Apart from volunteering, we spent time discussing a broad variety of topics centering around culture, lived experiences, and art (among other things), which I enjoyed. We also dedicated some time to try each other's cooking - forming meaningful and lasting memories. I can only recommend Kana both as a volunteer as well as a kind-hearted, (self-)reflective and dedicated person to be around. Thank you for sharing your time with us.

Thank you all, this was our first workaway and we felt welcome from the first minute we arrived. What an absolutely lovely extended family who live in an idyllic location. Ann and family were chilled, easy going and flexible in what we could help them with. We spent a fun week helping with maintenance jobs, gardening, moving logs and painting a mural reflecting plants growing on the property. We also helped with gardening tasks at a local plant nursery with several local people. We were more than comfortable sleeping in our own room and bathroom and also a yurt where we appreciated the fantastic dark sky location. Ann provided healthy home grown food, it was special to sit to share meals at the end of the day and chat. Ann was more than happy to show us local sites, introducing neighbours and friends in the village. We left as friends and can thoroughly recommend this workaway, we would definitely return.

My first work away and solo travel experience was truly wonderful. Bana and his family truly touched my heart; they made me feel welcome and helped me discover Jaipur and immerse myself in Indian culture. You can see how much they care about making their guests and volunteers feel at home, and they succeed incredibly well. The work mainly involves checking in guests and cleaning rooms, but any other initiatives are welcome. The accommodations are comfortable and spacious, and the breakfast is delicious! They are willing to accommodate any needs. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to meet so many interesting people who chose to stay with them. I hope all my future experiences are just as exciting! Thank you again for everything ❤️

Kate has been really a fantastic and valuable helper in the house. Her attention to detail, self organising capabilities to work in autonomy, kindness and reliability are only her most obvious qualities; she is sensitive, thoughtful and reserved in the inside and of good conversation. Thank you Kate for your presence and help! the wooden windows here also remember and thank you everyday …:-))

It was my first workaway experience, and even though I was nervous and had doubts going into it, I quickly grew to love the place. Jessica and Kishor are kind and supportive individuals and it was a pleasure to work with volunteers from all around the world. There are so many beautiful dogs at the shelter that deserve your love, so many beautiful hikes nearby, and I hope to return someday and adopt a dog :)

We welcomed Ogulnur to the farm for about 14 days. She is our first volunteer from Turkmenistan. Ogulnur fits in well with other volunteers and showed great teamwork. She is always ready to help even though the tasks given were something totally new that she had to learn. We had the opportunity to bring the volunteers along to a malay wedding, the night and morning markets to experience the local culture. Ogulnur is also a good cook and made us some authentic Turkmenistan rice dish. I recommend other hosts to receive Ogulnur to volunteer at your place.

Anan spent a week volunteering at our farm. She is quick learner and could carry out the tasks assigned to her well. She interacts well with the family members and enjoys the trips to the night market and also to the hotspring. All the best to you Anan starting your work in Japan soon.

They helped us a lot during their stay. It was a great opportunity for me and for my friends to learn about Steiner education. I appreciate that the prepared a lot to explain us. My children were really excited to play with them. Our family definitely had a great time together.
