Description
Come and help with some pet sitting, house chores, and creative projects in the Netherlands! Join our family of two - my fun-loving, high-energy doggo and myself - in the heart of Eindhoven.
Timeframe: Undefined, let's see how it goes, but at least 1-2 months.
I’m looking for a positive, dog-loving person with great organization capabilities to share my cozy apartment and lend a hand over the next couple of months in various projects (with potential to extend if it’s a great fit).
You can expect to contribute an average of 4-5 hours per workday, with flexibility to adjust based on our needs and your availability. Tasks may vary from simple dog-sitting or walks to household chores, depending on the day’s needs and your availability.
The ideal person: Dog lover with pet experience (dog training experience is a huge plus!); Non-smoker with a tidy, low-key lifestyle (expect a quiet, structured, low-stress environment); Reliable, structured, organized, quick learner - can provide references; Fluent in English (Dutch can be a plus)
Extra points for: Shared interests (pets, gaming, social sciences, hiking, creative projects, etc); Driving license (and willingness to drive for chores or going hiking with the dog)
While this is primarily a volunteer position, if our interests are aligned and you’re interested in community-building we might just be a match for meaningful co-living!
About us: You’ll have your own room in a welcoming apartment filled with books, plants, games, and love in the heart of Eindhoven. I’m a social scientist and designer, analytical and creative. The next few months will be very busy for me, which is why I need some extra help. My dog has some separation anxiety and difficulty with other dogs, but he is small, bright, enthusiastic, and big-hearted. You’ll love him if you love dogs. I’ll provide tips and guidance on managing his separation anxiety to ensure a smooth experience for both of you.Types of help and learning opportunities

There will be several options for social activities and cultural exchange, e.g.: Shared meals and trips, exchanging skills and knowledge through dog training excercises and creative projects (I'm a social scientist and designer, with a broad variety of skills that I'm happy to share), and the option to participate in social events throughout the Netherlands.
Help
Dog care 🐶
Keeping my dog company, helping with walks, possibly assisting with training and routine care.
Apartment support ✨
Sharing cleaning, daily chores, and cooking.
+ Creative projects 🎨🌈
Only if you're interested in co-creating something. A wide range of options will be available, including (board/TTRPG) game design, painting, sewing and knitting, some gardening, writing and advocacy (feminism, neurodivergence, sustainability). Some projects are personal, others non-profit, none are mandatory but can be a nice way to exchange our interests :)Languages

Your own room (with access to a shared bathroom) in a large apartment (for clarification: I only have one extra room, so couples/friends would need to share it). The apartment is in a vibrant yet peaceful area with a nearby park for relaxing walks, and it’s just a short distance from the city center with shops, cafes, and cultural spots. Free internet, well-equipped kitchen and living room (with TV, books, board games, and some fitness equipment). Plus a bike that I can loan you for your stay.
What else ...
Eindhoven is a bustling city near the German and Belgian borders - making it a perfect start location to explore surrounding countries. It has an airport and a busy train station and is popular with tourists for its museums, tech-related programs, and annual light festival. It is also one of the greenest cities in the Netherlands, with about 30% of the city comprising of parks and green spaces and many nearby hiking trails.
Since I'm flexible on what volunteer works need to be done (with the core responsibility being as simple as being physically in the apartment to keep my dog company for 3-4 days per week), this could be a great opportunity for anyone with a WFH arrangement or wanting to enjoy a gap month/year. House rules are relatively simple: no drugs, no smoking, no(t much) alcohol, be respectful and quiet. I do have preferences in how things are run, but am happy to accommodate reasonable needs by adjusting processes.A little more information

Can host digital nomads
Digital nomads are more than welcome - your accommodation is equipped with access to high speed internet and a work desk. If your schedule is flexible enough, we can compare our agendas and will be able to come up with something that works for both of us.
Can possibly accept pets
Pets can be accepted in principle. However, please note that my dog doesn't like other dogs and cats 80% of the time. If you still want to bring your buddy along, we need to discuss everything in detail.
