I spent three weeks with Joe, and I must say they truly flew by! Joe was more than just a host; he is a true friend and a wonderful, creative person. I deeply appreciated his efforts to make me feel at home and to keep the work light and enjoyable. His property is a delightful corner of Pai, tucked away in nature, and it was a spectacular sight to see his horse, Cher, running through the grounds. I loved spending my evenings cooking in the outdoor kitchen, and I had the flexibility to choose between sleeping in the tent or in the house—a simple yet very comfortable environment. It was a pleasure to contribute my time, creativity, and hard work to help his project grow. I highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to discover Pai and the local culture; Joe knows so many interesting places and people. He is truly a person with a big heart.

Initially planned as a three-week stay, my time at Ahmad’s extended to over a month and a half—a truly wonderful experience. Working with his team, I gained deep insights into bamboo construction and mastered various tools and materials. Contributing to such an ambitious project was incredibly rewarding. Additionally, assisting Rose with Malaysian cooking classes was a precious learning opportunity. Ahmad’s constant availability and care made him much more than a standard host. I would recommend to everyone who is interested in construction and working together!

Paul was hands down one of the hardest workers we have ever had stay with us. I have a pretty high standard as can get through a significant volume of work myself but Paul beat me and managed to push through so match work in a couple of days that we gave him a day off cause I was running out of tasks. Paul is such a kind and well spoken guy, he’ll fit in almost anywhere and it was great to learn a little of what he has planned for his future. Hope the catch up with Family goes well and wish you all the success you deserve young man! Definitely meant it if you need a place to crash for a night anytime, let us know.

I am very pleased to have had Alice stay, because she did a lot of work, and everything to a high standard. Painting, rust treatment, weed control, lime washing, and much more. My place looks great now. I also had help with my computer and other technical issues. Alice is a capable, happy and organised person who made plenty of friends and shared her interesting and varied experiences. She is welcome back any time!

Oriane stayed with us for 3 days and was a wonderful person to host. She helped us create light decorations, spent time teaching English to Chamal, and captured beautiful photos of our place. She was kind, positive, and always ready to help with anything. We truly appreciated her time here and she is welcome back anytime.

I left from two weeks at Zach & Vale's place with gratitude overflowing, and no short review will capture the experience. But in a fumbling attempt, I would mention both the natural building and seeing a healthy example of homestead family life leave me inspired and wishing - inshallah - to live my life in that way too one day. I was glad to have to opportunity to get my hands on several missions; cobbuilding in 3 different techniques (satisfying! intuitive), fixing up an old car, burning & painting a beautiful door Zach made, cutting up a bit of firewood. Spending time with their two daughters was also a treat. Also the monthly work party fell in my time there and it was fun, but mostly inspiring to see a group of like-minded people all come together to help one another, kids running around meanwhile. The area is gorgeous. Bisbee is worth a visit, and by car there is Grand Nature to see, god bless Arizona. Many colorful unique birds were even right on the property. The winternights can get pretty dang cold in the trailers, but a big old pile of blankets had me sleeping warm. Cherimoya the cat kept me company from time to time and became a good friend. And at the end one other volunteer whose company I truly appreciated. Two weeks - as anyone could have predicted - was way too short. I harbor some imagination of returning one day, and meanwhile I have warm memories for company. With gratitude.

This was my first workawy experience, and it was fantastic. Pantila, Maynine, and Buddy are special people, always available and kind. Children are beautiful and tender, they fill the heart with joy. The village is very quiet and surrounded by nature; you can paint on every wall and unleash your creativity. If you come to here, you'll have truly local experiences and meeting amazing people! Thanks, you've given me new friends and wonderful memories!

I have had a great experience here. The work is very interesting and very flexible. The communication was great and the host very welcoming. I've learned a lot of different things about Keelung and Taiwan. I found the atmosphere amazing, and it was also great to meet some other very interesting volunteers. If you search for a self-paced experience, this is perfect.

I will never have enough words to truly thank Prajeeth and Manga. This was my first Workaway, and from the very first moment I felt like part of a big, beautiful family — one that tries to make conscious, alternative choices while living in harmony with nature. We cooked, laughed, learned, played, worked, sang, and made music together, all at a calm and restorative pace, listening to each other and to the nature around us. With great care and patience, they will share their knowledge of medicinal plants, local traditions, land and water management practices, and some amazing recipes — and you may even feel time begin to slow down. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, learn by doing, and reconnect with nature, this is a very special one. Thank you to the whole family for your time, for welcoming me, and for everything you taught me. From now on, I will look at nature differently, and I will try, in my own way, to shape it a little more like you do. Thank you ❤️

I had a beautiful, amazing, lovely experience :) I stayed with one of the families, Denuwan's family, and it truly felt like home, allowing me to have a deep and authentic cultural exchange. I spent my days homeschooling, which implied speaking with the learners, playing games, being creative, and moving around the area which was stunning. We also went to different centres so that all learners had the change to practice with the volunteers. I liked that the schedule wasn't fixed and that I could talk directly to the kids to arrange the homeschooling. I truly felt part of the community. Huge thanks to Janaka for his hard work and creating this space for children and volunteers.

It was my first workaway experience ever and it was an amazing one ! Yan picked me up when I arrived with the bus and offered me a room for myself a lot of food (he also made sure I could try a lot of different fruits and Khmer food) ! I felt very welcome by him and his entire family😊 The teaching itself was also a interesting experience, and the teachers and kids were also very kind and welcoming to me! The classes were sometimes a bit challenging due to the very beginner level of the kids but at the end it still worked very well. Can highly recommend this volunteering to anyone :)

I stayed with Romola for one week and it was a great place to start my journey in NZ. Romola communicated clearly and was very welcoming from the beginning. The food she provided and cooked was phenomenal. I mostly did weeding and a cleanup of her garden, including moving a few plants and replanting them. I also got a lot of good recommendations for things to do and see in Auckland. Overall it was a great experience.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Christina during our Yoga Teacher Training, and she was an incredible addition to our community. From the moment she arrived, she brought a warm, positive energy and a genuine eagerness to support in any way needed. She generously shared her artistic talent by painting a beautiful mural on one of our walls, leaving a lasting and meaningful contribution to our space. Beyond her creativity, she was consistently proactive and dependable—helping water the garden, cleaning guest rooms with care and attention, assisting in preparing delicious meals, and always staying to help with cleanup afterward. She was also a wonderful team player, offering encouragement and support to fellow volunteers and guests alike. Her kind nature and easygoing personality made her a joy to have around—she is truly easy to chat with and connects effortlessly with others. In addition, she participated wholeheartedly in our morning meditations, yoga practices, cacao ceremony, and other shamanic experiences with openness and respect. Her flexibility and willingness to immerse herself fully in the experience were deeply appreciated. We wholeheartedly recommend her to any future hosts or guests. She is talented, reliable, kind-hearted, and brings a beautiful presence to any environment she joins. We are so grateful for her time with us and would welcome her back anytime.

I spent 8 days at Samuel’s place and it was truly a wonderful experience. Samuel is very welcoming and kind. His house is comfortable, spacious, and includes a large area dedicated to Workawayers, which allows you to have your own space and privacy. I would especially like to thank Samuel for his incredible support during my stay. At the beginning of my visit, I became seriously ill and had to rest. Samuel took the time to accompany me to the hospital, made sure I was okay, and hosted me free of charge for the remaining 6 days without asking me to work so I could properly recover. He even insisted that I should not work because he genuinely cared about my health. I am deeply grateful for his generosity. For all these reasons, I highly recommend Samuel as a host. You will have a great stay, feel at home, and be very well located in Auckland. Thank you again, Justin

I spent a month in total here with Mahesh and his family. During the Workaway I assisted in English classes by providing activities, spoken English practice, games and presentations. The classes range from 4 years old up to adult so you get a range of experience! I was very lucky to attend a school trip where we saw elephants and tigers! During my time I lived with Mahesh and his family at his home. This was an amazing way to experience Sri Lankan culture and I learnt so much from the family. Rosemarie is an incredible cook and the children always enjoy playing games and learning from my culture. For example, I showed the family what we do on Pancake Day in the UK. This is a brilliant Workaway where you are fully immersed into Sri Lankan life, living and working with the family and learning about the education system there. Thank you so much for having me 🫶
