  My name is Sebastian, I’m 35 years old and I’m a lifeguard. In the past I did volunteering here on Workaway and it was an amazing experience.
  My partner, Leticia, is 34 years old. She is a psychologist, loves animals, and is learning programming.
  The house is located on Eduardo Víctor Haedo Street, on the corner with Paullier, in a central area very close to Parque Rodó, the Rambla, and several transport lines that connect to the whole city. It is a safe, quiet neighborhood surrounded by services: supermarkets, bakeries, gyms, restaurants, street markets, and all kinds of shops. Also, just 100 meters away there is Plaza Liber Sereñi and a cultural center.
  We believe the neighborhood is perfect for anyone who wants to explore Montevideo on foot. We are close to Ciudad Vieja, Mercado del Puerto, Parque Rodó, Tres Cruces, the Rambla, and many other cultural and tourist attractions.
  The house has unlimited high-speed internet, ideal for people who work or study online.
  As this is an old house that we are refurbishing, we also think it is important to say that there is often dust and mess, like in any construction site. Maybe some things do not work perfectly at times, as happens in many old houses, but we always try to find a solution and keep improving the place.
  How can you help us? By helping to refurbish our house: painting, removing old paint, sanding, chipping walls, cleaning rubble, plastering, cleaning, and much more.
  Most of the volunteering here is physical work. So if you like being active, working with your hands, moving around, and ending the day feeling that you did something real, this may be your place.
  Food is not included and, because of that, the volunteering is 20 hours per week: 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. In any case, there is a kitchen with all the necessary utensils for volunteers to use freely.
  
  What can we teach you?
  Sebastian can teach you Spanish, surfing in summer, and how to enjoy the beach.
  He can also teach many things related to construction, since he trained in construction during his early years of study.

  Mi nombre es Sebastian, tengo 35 años y soy guardavidas. En el pasado hice voluntariado aquí en Workaway y fue una experiencia increíble.
  Mi pareja, Leticia, tiene 34 años. Es psicóloga, le encantan los animales y está aprendiendo programación.
  La casa está en la calle Eduardo Víctor Haedo esquina Paullier, en una zona céntrica, muy cerca del Parque Rodó, de la rambla y de varias líneas de transporte que conectan con toda la ciudad. Es un barrio seguro, tranquilo y rodeado de servicios: supermercados, panaderías, gimnasios, restaurantes, ferias y todo tipo de comercios. Además, a solo 100 metros está la Plaza Liber Sereñi y un centro cultural.
  Creemos que el barrio es perfecto para quien quiera explorar Montevideo caminando. Estamos cerca de la Ciudad Vieja, el Mercado del Puerto, el Parque Rodó, Tres Cruces, la rambla y muchos otros puntos culturales y turísticos.
  La casa cuenta con internet de alta velocidad sin límite, ideal para quienes trabajan o estudian en línea.
  Como es una casa vieja que estamos refaccionando, también nos parece importante decir que muchas veces hay polvo y desorden, como en toda obra. Capaz algunas cosas no funcionen perfecto en algún momento, como pasa en muchas casas antiguas, pero siempre intentamos buscar una solución y seguir mejorando el lugar.
  ¿En qué puedes ayudarnos? A refaccionar nuestra casa, pintura, sacar pintura vieja, lijar, picar paredes, limpiar escombros, revocar, limpieza y mucho más.
  La mayor parte del voluntariado acá es trabajo físico. Así que, si te gusta mantenerte activo, trabajar con las manos, moverte y terminar el día sintiendo que hiciste algo concreto, este puede ser tu lugar.
  La comida no está incluida y, por eso, el voluntariado es de 20 horas semanales: 4 horas por día, de lunes a viernes. De todos modos, hay una cocina con todos los utensilios necesarios para que los voluntarios la usen con total libertad.
  
  ¿Qué podemos enseñarte?
  Sebastian puede enseñarte español, surf en verano y a disfrutar mucho de la playa.
  Como también muchas cosas de construcción, se formó en construcción en sus primeros años de estudio.

  ENGLISH VERSION – Tasks
  
  Volunteers can help us with different physical tasks related to the refurbishment and general improvement of the house.
  
  Painting
  We paint wood, walls, and other parts of the house. This usually includes sanding, preparing surfaces, applying primer or sealant, and then painting.
  
  Sanding (wood and walls)
  Some tasks involve sanding boards, frames, doors, windows, or walls that need preparation before being repaired or painted. This can be done by hand or with simple electric tools.
  
  General house repairs and improvements
  We regularly do different maintenance and refurbishment tasks, such as:
  
  filling small holes or cracks
  basic wall repairs
  removing old paint
  chipping damaged wall sections
  preparing cement mixes
  plastering / rendering walls
  applying sealant or plaster
  cleaning rubble and construction debris
  carrying materials up and down the house
  organizing materials and tools
  helping with simple construction-related tasks
  
  Cleaning and general maintenance
  Another part of the help is keeping the space clean and organized, both inside and outside the house, especially because this is an old house under refurbishment and there is often dust and mess, like on any worksite.
  
  Most of the volunteering here is physical work, so this place is especially good for people who enjoy staying active, working with their hands, moving materials, and being part of a practical project.

  Los voluntarios pueden ayudarnos en distintas tareas físicas vinculadas a la refacción y mejora general de la casa.
  
  Pintura
  Pintamos maderas, paredes y otras partes de la casa. Esto generalmente incluye lijar, preparar superficies, aplicar primer o sellador y luego pintar.
  
  Lijado (madera y paredes)
  Algunas tareas implican lijar tablas, marcos, puertas, ventanas o paredes que necesitan preparación antes de ser reparadas o pintadas. Puede ser lijado manual o con herramientas eléctricas simples.
  
  Refacciones y mejoras generales en la casa
  Realizamos distintas tareas de mantenimiento y refacción, como por ejemplo:

  Otra parte de la ayuda tiene que ver con mantener el espacio limpio y ordenado, tanto dentro como fuera de la casa, sobre todo porque es una casa vieja en refacción y muchas veces hay polvo y desorden, como en toda obra.
  
  La mayor parte del voluntariado acá es trabajo físico, así que es un lugar ideal para personas a las que les gusta mantenerse activas, trabajar con las manos, mover materiales y formar parte de un proyecto práctico.

  What else ...

  Our volunteer program doesn't involve 25 hours of work per week, but rather 20 hours per week. Why fewer hours? Because we don't offer meals included with accommodation. We believe this is a fairer way to balance the exchange: fewer hours of work in return for accommodation. However, the house has a fully equipped kitchen so that each volunteer can cook and prepare their meals as they wish, with complete freedom and autonomy.

  ¿Por qué menos horas?

  English We can host digital nomads. The house has unlimited high-speed internet, available in all rooms, which works very well for online work, video calls, and remote study. We also have comfortable indoor spaces and a calm environment, ideal for those who need to work from their laptop. Español Podemos recibir nómadas digitales.   English We can host workawayers traveling in campervans. There is space to park a van in front of the house, and the neighborhood is safe and quiet. While there is no private parking on the property, street parking is available and commonly used in this area. Español Podemos recibir workawayers que viajen en campervans. Hay espacio para estacionar una van frente a la casa, y el barrio es seguro y tranquilo.   English We can accept some pets, mainly small and friendly animals. Leticia loves animals, so we are open to discussing each case. However, we cannot host aggressive pets or animals that may damage the house. Español Podemos aceptar algunas mascotas, principalmente animales pequeños y tranquilos.
