I loved having Alessio here as a Workaway. From the moment we met, he was friendly and engaging and jumped into any task I asked of him with enthusiasm and positivity. He worked hard and achieved a lot while he was here but still got to enjoy some of the benefits of living here in Byron Shire. He planned his time well and was self motivated to work unsupervised. He was a very easy house guest to have here. He was clean, quiet, considerate and respectful of the space. He even packed the dishwasher just how I like it. LOL We enjoyed good conversations and laughter and he quickly became another member of my Workaway family. He met my family and got on well with everyone and they all loved him. I highly recommend Alessio as a Workaway. I wish you every success in your travel adventures Alessio. Come back one day. I'll always have a place for you to stay here. Thanks for everything you did. Sergio is an awesome person - he is SUCH great energy and a joy to have around. He was really dedicated to helping us with some really hard jobs. We were blown away. He is a hard worker, has heaps of practical skills and has a fantastic attitude. We can’t speak highly enough of him or his time with us. He’s mature and grounded, and conversations with him were inspiring (and made us want to travel again!) If you’re considering having him come and stay with you, do not think twice, he’s a lovely guy and a great communicator, and you’ll feel so lucky to have had him, his skills and his calm presence at your place!

I spent 6 nights at Moisés’ place, and overall it was a good experience. I shared a room with his mum throughout the weekend. There were only a few guests while I was there, but the job was quite demanding at times. I didn’t get any days off, but I also didn’t ask for any and I was fine with that. I really appreciated the flexibility of the job, which allowed me to go kiting. I used the motorbike to get around — just be careful because there are many trucks on the road and it was pretty narrow. I paid 15 soles per day, plus 5 soles for bike washing. I hitchhiked twice, took a tuk-tuk for 15 soles, and the guys also go into the city at least once a day. For breakfast, I got 2 eggs, bread, jam, and butter. You can cook your own food for 5 soles each time, and there are some shops nearby where you can buy what you need. The hostel is really nice and chill. It has a swimming pool, lots of hammocks, and a beautiful terrace where you can watch the sunset.

We had such a great time with Diego.. very easy going.. always ready to help, even outside his shift, loved by all team. We also wished he had stayed longer as we were having a good time with him. Confident, funny and focused..a great adition to any team, work & patnership !!

Sarah stayed with us for about 10 days. She is an easy person to get along with and pleasant to talk with. Her grasp of English is already quite good with only some moments where a word may need explaining. She performed a number of tasks ranging from helping preserve fruit to collecting and stacking firewood. All tasks were done cheerfully and she completed them well. We are happy to recommend Sarah to other hosts.

Zoe and Max were fabulous guests and a genuinely great Workaway exchange experience. They’re smart, funny, interesting and very easy to be around, full of life and curiosity. They threw themselves into Crescent Head life, made friends locally and even enjoyed a day golfing with our carpenter, which says a lot. As for the work, they were seriously impressive. They got stuck into gardening, cutting back trees, clearing weeds, hauling rubbish to the tip and tackling whatever needed doing with real diligence and good humour. No fuss, just solid effort. We absolutely loved having them here. We felt completely relaxed leaving them in our home and even invited them to our other place for a few days to meet our friends. That level of trust says everything. They’re clean, tidy, respectful and just great young people with a strong sense of adventure. Max and Zoe also cooked a mean parmigiana and happily helped with all the kitchen chores. Total team players. We were genuinely sad to see them go and would have them back in a heartbeat. If they’re coming your way, you’ll be lucky to have them. Thanks guys, you really made the experience memorable. Good luck with the rest of your travels and thanks again for everything you did.

I spent 10 days at Edwin’s place and the experience was truly great. He was very welcoming, and his whole family made me feel at home from day one. You quickly feel integrated, and they genuinely enjoy sharing and exchanging with volunteers. Their ecological reserve project is ambitious and inspiring. The workload is very reasonable and the atmosphere is always pleasant. The food is also very good! It’s also a great place to learn and practice Spanish in daily life. I highly recommend this experience 100%. Thank you again for these amazing 10 days Pasé 10 días en la casa de Edwin y la experiencia fue realmente excelente. Fue muy acogedor y toda su familia me hizo sentir como en casa desde el primer día. Uno se siente rápidamente integrado y se nota que realmente disfrutan compartir y intercambiar con los voluntarios. Su proyecto de reserva ecológica es ambicioso e inspirador. La carga de trabajo es totalmente razonable y el ambiente siempre es agradable. ¡Además, se come muy bien! También es un lugar excelente para aprender y practicar español en la vida cotidiana. Recomiendo esta experiencia al 100%. ¡Muchas gracias por estos 10 días increíbles!

Coucou :) J'ai passé 4 semaines avec Noria, Jean-Daryl et la petite Luna. C'est un endroit très spécial, avec beaucoup d'amour et de beauté naturelle au milieu de la forêt. Merci d'avoir passé ce temps avec moi, de m'avoir répondu patiemment à toutes mes questions, surtout sur la langue française ;) et d'avoir une fille si merveilleuse. J'ai apprécié chaque jour. Gael was a pleasure to host. I loved his easygoing and cheerful nature and his amazing creativity...I will treasure his mud balls! He finished a project I'd been meaning to do for ages,which was so helpful. We had lots of interesting conversations, which I particularly enjoyed.

A place I could truly call home! My Workaway experience at Machatarn was so much more than just a work-for-accommodation deal — from day one, I got the chance to be part of her family and really experience Aussie culture. The tasks included some gardening and basic carpentry, just a couple of hours a day. Communication with Machatarn was always clear since the very beginning and I really appreciated all the tips she gave me to explore the surrounding areas in the best way possible. I honestly hope to come back one day to this amazing land — I finally feel like I’ve built a real connection within the Aussie community!

Lotti stayed with me for about two weeks and it was an absolute pleasure! Whether the task was big or small, she approached it with a smile and a genuine eagerness to learn. She is always looking for ways to be helpful and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty to get the job done. I highly recommend her for any future volunteer or professional endeavors and would welcome her back anytime!

Oliwia came to us as a friend from previous volunteers. Thus, the trust was already extended beforehand and we had a great start together. She is a great cook, a high energy person and really motivated to learn and help in anything. She was a great addition to our little team and we are happy to see her here again. All the best with the many things you are doing and with your studies!

I stayed with Rita for almost three weeks, and it was a very special time for me. At the beginning, I had some uncertainty because there are not many photos before arriving. But I can honestly say you couldn’t end up in a better place. From the first day, I felt welcome and comfortable. One thing I can say is that she is not what you might expect. If you arrive with certain ideas in your head, forget them. You will notice from the first moment that she has her own way to be, her own style, and a very open heart. We spent a lot of time together playing card games, watching series, and just talking about many different things. She taught me how to play Zankpatience, and we read in German almost every day. Even when I felt insecure about my language level, she always encouraged me. I never felt judged. If I could give one honest advice to future workawayers, it would be to come with at least some basic German, I came with very little, and sometimes I felt frustrated because I wanted to learn more than I could (Deutsch feels incredibly hard to learn). That was the only thing i regret, even so, being with her made me want to improve my German even more. The work was clear and fair: cleaning the house, cooking, moving and organizing books, and some light gardening. Nothing complicated. She took me to a thermal bath, to events where we played cards and ate cake, and showed me around Mengen. I learned a lot about everyday life in Germany. She even helped me look for information about job opportunities. In the end, I realized I’m not ready yet — but that experience made me even more motivated to learn and grow. And yes… I’m leaving with many memories and also with a serious addiction to salted caramel ice cream. Now every time I see it, I feel like I have to buy it. Thank you for your time translating parts of Real Humans so I could understand it. Honestly i loved it. To any future workawayer: if Rita writes to you, take the opportunity. You will not regret it.

Margot was our main residential volunteer vegetarian cook for 6 weeks. Margot was a joy to have at the Centre. She cooked delicious vegetarian food which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Her relaxed, friendly, and outgoing nature made everyone at ease. She had a good relationship with all volunteers, guests, and staff. No task was too much for her and she took everything that came to her. She was extremely responsible and adaptable and we could rely completely on her to fulfill her duties. She worked well along with other, and also trained in the new cook. I highly recommend Margot as a volunteer for whatever role she chooses. We would welcome her back with open arms. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

Candis was truly a gift to our community at the Abbaye. From the very beginning, she brought a beautiful spirit of faith, kindness, and generosity. She was always willing to help wherever needed and carried out each task with care and dedication. Beyond her work, Candis brought light and encouragement to those around her. She has a sincere heart, a deep love for others, and a natural ability to uplift a community simply by being present. It was a joy and a privilege to share this time with her. We are very grateful for all she gave during her stay and warmly recommend her to any future host.

Momona company was great, despite that she was still learning English and Spanish ,she pick up on many diferent tasks and she had give a great help. Always motivated and willing to learn. Also I really enjoyed the talks and seen her amazing drawings that she was doing on her free time. I would recommend Momona to any Host as someone reliable,easy going and hard working. I spent a month in their warm and welcoming home, surrounded by stunning snowy mountains and forests. It’s a very calm and peaceful place — if you love nature and quiet, this is definitely the right spot :) Whenever possible, they would drop me off in town, which allowed me to explore the area and their community. I even had the chance to attend a traditional festival, a country concert, visit Lake Louise, Banff, and other incredible places! The tasks were fairly simple, and the schedule was flexible and adaptable, which made everything very comfortable and easy to manage. Thank you again for this wonderful stay. I will keep very special memories of this experience. They are a lovely, kind, and welcoming family Bélissende

Getting to know this place was a miracle. We get a part of an amazing community, where we cooked together, talked, played, worked, had fun, shared wonderful but also hart moments, and always found a heart and ear to be lissened. This time we spent there will never get forgotten. I would recommend it to anyone. We have stayed there around 6 weeks, an experience that changes life forever.
