It has taken me way too long to leave this feedback, but I still want to leave it because Elena, Attila and Jona were really a pleasure to host, firstly for getting work done but also for company and cultural exchange. Everyone was very happy and chill and easy to get a long with. And when it came to working on our projects: making a fence; cutting branches from our big pine trees; cutting wood; and, making makrame!, it all went very well. Elena and Attila even stayed in our house and did house sitting while we were gone for a bit because we felt they were responsible and were happy to have them stay longer in our home.

Paula and Gonzalo stayed with us for a week and painted a 2nd coat on the outside of our house. They are both a delight to host, polite, helpful, trustworthy and easy to get along with. We enjoyed having them stay with us and wish them well on the next part of their travels. We can recommend them both to other hosts.,

Our time with Jonas was just fantastic. He stayed a good 2 month with us during the worst storms and longest bad weather period we ever had. Digging drainages, walking and working in deep mud, he always helped with a smile. Jonas has good a good sense of humor, is very open minded, motivated and not to forget a big big heart for cats. We really hope he comes back one day and can only highly recommend him to everyone who needs a helping hand. For now we wish him all the best adventures on his bike ride back to the North. Did we mention we miss him ?

This place is great! The accommodation is cozy, self-contained and peaceful, and the location is one of the most beautiful places I've been in BC. Brad and Lana are very clear in their communication and expectations - instructions for the work are excellent - and you are fairly compensated for your time. Work can be arduous - lots of digging - but rewarding. Lana & Brad are really friendly and accommodating. Recommend this place to anyone who is seeking peace & solitude, dirty hands, and a place lay their head. You will need to be fairly self sufficient and I do recommend you have a vehicle in this location as it would otherwise be quite isolated.

If you want a true Kiwi experience, don't look elsewhere! Grace is a very welcoming, very knowledgeable and interesting person. I felt part of the family for a week and are grateful for that. The work is easy and projects are both enjoyable and rewarding. Anyway, with the quality food Grace is providing, anybody will want to do more! One of my best week in New Zealand.

Our stay was truly special. This place and the beautiful safaritent turned into a place that genuinely felt like home. From day one, we were welcomed as part of the family by Anneloes, Ferriën, Sarah, Ziva and Luca. Their warmth, openness and sense of togetherness made this experience unforgettable. The work was fair and balanced, with plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Serra da Gardunha. Life here is simple in the best way: shared meals, being outdoors, and lots of spontaneous, joyful moments. We left with full hearts, this was definitely a “see you again,” not a goodbye. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm, personal and meaningful Workaway experience.

We feel incredibly grateful to have hosted Ronnie and Erin through Workaway — what began as a simple exchange quickly turned into a truly meaningful connection and lasting friendship. From the moment they arrived, Ronnie and Erin brought warmth, positivity, and an incredible work ethic into our home. They approached every task with enthusiasm and care, always going above and beyond what was expected. Whether helping around the homestead, caring for animals, or jumping into daily family life, they did so with genuine kindness and a willingness to learn and contribute. Their timing could not have been more meaningful. They helped carry our family through a challenging period — supporting us while my husband was recovering from surgery and while I was away from the farm completing 100 hours of clinical placements. Knowing they were there, caring for our home, animals, and family, brought an incredible sense of relief and gratitude. Erin’s home cooking is absolutely incredible — every meal she prepared brought everyone together and made our home feel even warmer. Ronnie is an amazingly talented artist, and it was such a gift to see his creativity come to life during their stay. They both brought so much more than just help — they brought heart, talent, and joy. What stood out most was how naturally they became part of our family. Our kids absolutely adore them, and the bond they built in such a short time speaks volumes about the kind of people they are. They were respectful, easygoing, and brought so much laughter and light into our days. Ronnie and Erin are the kind of people you hope to meet through experiences like Workaway — dependable, thoughtful, and truly special. We are so thankful for the time we shared and can confidently say they are now lifelong friends. We would welcome them back anytime with open arms and highly recommend them to any future hosts — you will be lucky to have them!!

At Johannes's place you have a lot of freedom. Here you can pretty much select, what you want to do, when you want to. But that freedom also comes with the responsibility to make your own day good and disciplin to start work. Johannes are very friendly open-minded and has a lot of knowledge about gardening and different diets. At his place you are almost garanteed to have interestering talks and I had some really nice encounters at his place. It seem to me people gravitate towards him, because he has created his own home and way of living. Johannes is very spontaneous and doesnt like to plan to much, which also had it benefits. The room is tidy and you have a lot of space for being alone if wished, as it is basically a apartment. The food is very good and everyone should let themselves get inspired from Johannes's knowledge. His parents are very nice and you feel at home. In my time with Johannes I learned a lot from his way of life. For example I learned about self-sustainability, gardening and I played football at the local club, which I onehundred procent recommend to everyone.

Faithful at the description, Dio is a beautiful place if you like gardening, DIY, natural cooking, meet people, live outside, expend your creativity, sleep on a carvan, experience community living. Thank you all of you for this experience and even more for the opportunity to be autonom, bring up ideas and projects.

We were delighted to have Brian join us for a Workaway. His work ethic is second to none—he’s neat, pays great attention to detail, and is incredibly accommodating with any task given. He embraced everything, from good weather to bad and everything in between, always with a positive attitude. I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend him to any future host.

We had a truly special time at this project. From the very beginning, we felt at home, not only because of the beautiful surrounding nature, but especially thanks to Melvin and his family (the guard), who made us feel so welcome. Cat arrived a couple of days later, and we quickly built a lovely connection with her. It immediately felt like a genuine friendship, without hierarchies, which we really appreciated. We also spent quite a bit of time with the other workers from Guatemala and were able to form meaningful bonds with them. Some of the work was quite physical, but Cat always made sure we didn’t overdo it and felt comfortable. Hector (Cat’s partner) also took us in for a few days at his other home near Antigua, which was another very special place where we felt completely at ease. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone considering helping out on this project. It’s truly something unique. A big thank you to Melvin, Diana, Adrian, Angel, Cat, and Hector, as well as the other workers, and of course, our adopted chickens, Karin and Carmen 🐔

We visited David and Jacqui at the end of March. Since we had a car, getting there was fairly easy, but the hills are quite steep, so drive carefully! The views are absolutely to die for! You can just be sweeping and look out to see the incredibly beautiful, sprawling Andalusian landscape. David always took the time to go over the plan for the following days, showing us exactly what to do and always praising us when we did a good job. The work mostly involved cleaning, weeding, and painting—nothing too demanding; even a petite woman like me could handle it all. Every week, David offered us a beer, which was a very sweet detail that showed his hospitality. It was a joy to work with them; they are very caring and kind people, and we wish them only the best. We will remember them for a long time. THANK YOU!!

The two months were truly one of the most intense and beautiful experiences I’ve ever had. From the very beginning, I felt welcome and part of something bigger – not like a guest, but like a real member of the place. One absolute highlight was definitely the storm we experienced and got through together. Even though it was challenging at times, it brought us all incredibly close. These are the kinds of moments you never forget, and they’re what made this time so special. Beyond experiences like that, it was especially the many conversations, the shared work and daily life, and the encounters with all kinds of different people that made these two months so valuable. I didn’t just learn a lot about the country, but also about myself. Maike and Kai are amazing hosts – warm, open, helpful, and simply great to be around. You can immediately tell that they put their heart into what they do. They made sure everyone felt comfortable while still giving plenty of personal space. I would come back anytime and can highly recommend this experience to anyone who is open to new impressions, genuine connections, and a bit of adventure. Thank you for everything – see you next year ✌️

Staying at Ramon’s house was a truly wonderful experience that I would recommend it to anyone. The tasks are not difficult but very diverse, which kept every day interesting. I spent most of my time in the garden, and it was a pleasure because Ramon has incredible patience—he explains everything clearly and shares his knowledge of gardening. He is also very flexible. The house has a great atmosphere- filled with animals and surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants. A special mention goes to Mon, the wonderful dog who stays by your side during work as the perfect companion. Ramon also provided me with a bicycle, which allowed me to explore the brilliantly organized cycling routes in the area. To top it off, during the weekend, Ramon helped me visit some of the most beautiful seaside villages and towns nearby. Oh! And I need to mention the amazing food- every next dish topped the previous one. Thank you Ramon!

I had an amazing time volunteering with Mahesh and his fantastic family. From the moment I arrived, I felt like a true member of the family. The whole family- Mahesh, Rosemary and their sons- are incredible and welcoming people. Rosemary is a fantastic cook and her Sri Lankan dishes were delicious. She is such a very kind person. Mahesh is equally wonderful—he is an expert on teaching English but also on Sri Lankan history and culture. I learned a lot from him. The teaching experience was truly incredible. The students are exceptionally well-disciplined, open-minded. And most importantly- very eager to learn. There were no issues in the classroom, Students' enthusiasm made every lesson a pleasure. Mahesh helps organize your free time. He is flexible with working hours and makes it easy to coordinate your schedule. He was a huge help in organizing trips and excursions. If you are looking for an authentic cultural exchange with a supportive and loving family, this is the place to be! Thank you for everything!

Thank you Jochen and Sonta, From the moment y'all picked me up from the train station, you made me feel very comfortable. Their home is in a beautiful, secluded place in nature. It is perfect for nature lovers and anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle. Sonta is a very calm ,easy going, caring person! she made sure that I felt comfortable and at home, and cooked delicious meals! Jochen is a very knowledgeable and an inspiring hard working man, his regenerative agriculture project in a challenging terrain is astonishing! thank you for the interesting conversations, and of course, our guitar jams! Elder their child reminded me , that you can be enthusiastic and involved with everything around you, He's so full of energy! I came in a time where i wasn't able to contribute much to the project, however I still did other kinds of tasks, like painting , taking care of the animals, and various other ones. I appreciated that they let me manage my time however I wanted. There were variety of tasks, Sometimes the work was monotonous and sometimes it was physically demanding, so there's something for everyone. Unfortunately, I had to cut my stay short, because my knee was hurting. Nonetheless, I learned a lot in these 1-2 weeks. Thank you for everything. I wish this lovely family all the best! :)
