    Description

Welcome to a peaceful nature project in central Portugal, close to São Vicente da Beira, at the foot of the Gardunha mountains. We are a Dutch family with three children emigrated to Portugal in July 2024.

The name of our place was born on a joyful day when our children were playing loudly and their voices echoed across the lake, a moment that perfectly captured the spirit of this place.
Our place is a spacious and quiet estate, surrounded by nature, with a beautiful lake as its heart. We are currently developing the land of our private living environment step by step.

Our focus is on learning, experimenting, and caring for the place where we live, guided by nature and curiosity rather than deadlines or commercial goals.
There are no commercial activities taking place, everything we do is for our own daily life and personal use.
We enjoy sharing daily life, meals, conversations, ideas, and experiences with people from different backgrounds, and learning from each other in a natural and relaxed way.

    **Who we are looking for**
We welcome hands-on, positive people who:
    -Enjoy nature and outdoor living
-Are practical and not afraid to get their hands dirty
-Can work independently but also enjoy being part of a family project
    -Appreciate a calm environment
You don’t have to be experienced. We value enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire to learn, and we’re happy to share knowledge along the way.
We do not expect professional skills, and volunteers are never a replacement for local or hired workers.

    Tasks may include:
-Light, non-professional activities around the home and land
    -Gardening and caring for plants
-Helping with general upkeep and tidying of outdoor spaces
    And if you enjoy:
    -Cooking and sharing meals
-Helping us connect and share our story through writing, photos, or social media
Workawayers help around 5 hours per day, usually from Monday to Friday, though we are flexible and open to discussing other arrangements together.

    Life beyond activities
Outside of shared activities, there is plenty of time and space to enjoy nature:
    -Swimming in the lake
    -Walking and exploring the surroundings
-Resting, reading, or simply enjoying the silence
Life here follows the calm rhythm of nature.
When you write to us, we’d love to know:
What would be your favorite way to enjoy the lake, a morning swim or a quiet sunset moment? ;-)

    **What hosting means to us**
By hosting Workawayers, we hope to learn from different cultures, lifestyles, and personal stories. We see hosting as a mutual exchange, where everyone brings their own perspective and where learning happens naturally through living and spending time together.

    **What we offer**
-Accommodation in a safari tent, surrounded by nature
    -One shared meal per day
-A peaceful, natural environment with lots of space
-A family atmosphere where every day brings something new

If you feel drawn to nature, sharing daily life, and learning together in a calm environment, this place might be the perfect place for you.

We look forward to meeting you 🌱
    Ferriën & Anneloes

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

At our place, cultural exchange is very much part of daily life.
We are a Dutch family who emigrated to Portugal in 2024, so we enjoy sharing both Dutch and Portuguese culture. You can experience family life with three children, learn about our traditions, food, and way of living, and we love exchanging stories, skills, and perspectives from different countries.
We also enjoy discovering Portuguese culture together - language, local customs, nature, and food - and we’re happy to share this journey with our Workaway guests. Mutual learning, openness, and respect are at the heart of the exchange.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have two safari tents with a total of 8 sleeping places. Each tent has one double bed and two single beds. Before your arrival, we will discuss the options — both having privacy or sharing a tent are possible. If you have your own camper or caravan, you are welcome to park it on our property.

We provide 3 meals per day in exchange for up to 25 hours of help per week (with 2 full days off).
There will always be at least one shared meal per day, as we believe eating together is an important part of the cultural exchange.

If sharing a meal isn’t possible due to schedules, we will make sure there are always enough groceries and ingredients available so you can prepare your own meals. You won’t have to worry about food, we take care of that.
