Description
--(currently traveling Auckland & Northland)--
Hey there!
We are Paula and Gonzalo, a Spanish couple on a Working Holiday here in New Zealand. We met in Scotland three years ago, where we had been living for 6 and 4 years, respectively.
We are both fit and outdoorsy people and enjoy spending time in nature. We have been on plenty of hiking and camping trips around Scotland and love traveling and exploring new places. We would love to spend as much time as possible working in nature as well as meeting new people and building meaningful relationships. Essentially, we are open to work in a wide variety of environments (from farm work to any kind of house/indoor work).
Gonzalo:
Hello! I'm Gonzalo, I am 26 years old and I'm very hard working, and I take work very seriously. More than anything, I enjoy carrying out jobs that edify and nurture both myself and others.
I have worked in hospitality for the past 8 years. However, I am more interested in exploring other lines of work, mostly agricultural and animal-related farm work which I am very excited and looking forward to learn about; I would not mind going back to hospitality at all however.
I enjoy working in a team and with other people in general, and I am also looking forward to making new friends!
To sum up, I am very excited about learning new things both from working and from the amazing people I encounter along the way.
Paula:
I consider myself an independent and adventurous person who is always looking to explore new places. I have plenty of experience in solo hiking/camping trips and am lucky to have travelled to many countries in Europe & around the world. I was in New Zealand in 2019 on exchange as part of my university studies, and fell in love with this country, its people, culture and nature.
Even though I am an introvert, I am a cheerful and friendly person who enjoys meeting new people and learning about other cultures and ways of living.
I have used WorkAway before, in 2022, when I spent 2 months working in a farm in Norway, which was a truly special and enriching experience.
Regarding my professional experience, I have worked in warehouses (pick&pack), offices (reception&facilities management), and hospitality (restaurants and hotels - front desk&management). I am very reliable and responsible and always keen to learn new skills.
----------------
We met working in a hotel, so we can guarantee that we make really good colleagues and work good as a team. Other than hiking and camping, our hobbies include going to the gym, reading, watching films/series, or just enjoying a quiet night in with a glass of wine :)
pd.: I also have a Couchsurfing account which I use more often and have more references there, happy to share the link to it! -Paula.

More details about your skills
As I mentioned above, I am a very versatile person (in all senses). Even my professional work experience goes from working in a warehouse lifting 15kg boxes, to babysitting, to reception staff in a luxury hotel.
That said, I generally enjoy anything with artistic nature. I have music studies and can play the flute, I am not-so-bad at drawing, and I love getting lost with my camera capturing beautiful landscapes.
What I am trying to say is that I can adapt to different jobs easily as long as I feel confortable and in a good environment!
