We spent 10 amazing days at Katsuura with Michael, lord Kit Kat and a few other workawayers, and time absolutely flew by. Michael made us feel right at home from the start. The work was varied and honestly didn’t feel like work. The place is surrounded by beautiful nature and close to the beach, which made the whole experience even more special. Wishing you all the best, and we’re very curious to see how this place will turn out!

I had the best time staying with Tracey and Andrew. Their dogs are the best! I was made to feel very welcome from the beginning, and I learnt a lot of new skills while I was there- more than I ever expected! The garden was lovely to work in and the accommodation was great too. As my first workaway experience I couldn't have had a better host. Thank you for a great stay and I'll miss all the dogs for sure.

Valérie & Francis are the kind of volunteers every host hopes for — the ones you’d happily choose over dozens of other requests. They are a beautiful, adventurous young couple who fully embraced the cultural experience and quickly felt like part of the place rather than just visitors. They stayed consistently busy during their time with us and jumped in wherever help was needed: gardening, transplanting, composting, BBQ prep, and general daily tasks. Their teamwork is excellent — they communicate well, support each other naturally, and work efficiently without needing supervision. Beyond the practical help, they brought a genuinely calming, positive vibe to our space. Super easy to live and work with, respectful, proactive, and thoughtful. I truly appreciated the awesome support they gave while staying here. These two beautiful souls make an outstanding team and will do incredibly well in whatever they put their minds to next. Any host would be lucky to have Valérie & Francis volunteer with them — highly recommended without hesitation. 🌿✨

Sofía came at the end of 2025 for a couple of weeks. Her profile immediately caught our attention. She's a very enthusiastic person; she's happy about everything and communicates easily. She's a real animal lover, and so are we, so the connection was great. We appreciate how she integrates herself into our already in-place team. The dynamic was great, and we really enjoyed that she's so funny (especially for the Christmas dinner; I still laugh about "Big Egg"). She's curious about everything, and her experience in a pig sanctuary was much appreciated here. She was excellent with the horses, dogs, and cats, showing great skills with animals. Furthermore, she discovered new skills (finding water!), and I, personally, think she had a good connection with Nicaragua. We are still in touch in the ex-volunteers group, and we hope to see her again.

Alessa and Casper are such a lovely couple with beautiful positive energy. They were incredibly helpful and always willing to support me with enthusiasm and responsibility. Beyond the work, we shared some really fun and memorable moments together exploring and spending time around the island. I truly enjoyed having them here and would warmly recommend them to any host.

I spontaneously chose to do this Workaway and could not have had a better experience. Cansu was very accommodating and welcoming. I really enjoyed meeting the other volunteers and the apartment was very comfortable. My favourite part was meeting the students who were all so eager to learn. I would love to come again and volunteer. Great experience!

It was a great experience to be hosted by Aria, Sam and the kids! Such a wonderful family, with beautiful energies and healthy lifestyle and dynamics, we surely learned a lot from them! The tasks were fair, the food was great and we had fun shared evenings, including a game night and a movie night! If you're looking to volunteer around Whangarei, bring good vibes and stay here for a while!

I cannot speak highly enough about my experience here! The teachers Miss Juli, and Miss Dasek were incredible. I loved my days assisting them with their classes. The students were so kind and thoughtful, I felt so loved. The family I stayed with were also amazing! Valentino was a lovely host, the room was spacious and it was so nice to get to stay in a traditional style Balinese home! If I could have stayed longer I definitely would have!

I had a great time at Ingrid's. She was clear and very helpful about the yard and garden work, and her house is beautiful. The area was great to explore, and I had a good time meeting Ingrid's friends and neighbors.

Grateful for Maheesha’s and Garrick’s warm welcome to their home and family. Their house is cozy, views are stunning and their children are the sweetest and kindest little humans. Also they have a super friendly cat. I got many recommendations for exploring in the area. Thank you for these couple of weeks.

I had the loveliest time on the finca ☺️ Wilma and Harm were so kind and really looked after me - thank you!!! 😄 it is such a special and beautiful place and I liked connecting with people who were staying as guests at the farm, and the family living and working there - they really helped me practice Spanish and I feel I've improved a bit thanks to them ☺️ my main task was helping care for the vanilla , picking it and drying it , I feel I've learnt a completely new skill and found it interesting learning about the process😄 THANK YOU! 😊🙏

Denis and Brenda are the sweetest people. You surely be part of the family staying there :) The hotel really is a wonderful place to live and work, the alpacas are adorable and Cumbia is clearly the star of Acompampa 💛 You'll have plenty of time to go hiking and you should use it because the mountains of Ancash are the most beautiful, peaceful and magical you could imagine. Thanks for everything, I'll be back someday 🫶🏻

We highly recommend Alice and Corontin for Workaways. Capable, clever and curious they were an excellent help on various permaculture garden projects including constructing frames for netting fruit trees, setting up an automated watering system and prepping for a new water tank. They were hard working, diligent and proactive in helping with household chores and clean up. It was a lovely cultural exchange and they were a delight to have in our household. I am positive they will make a valuable contribution to any future activities or projects they are involved with.

The farm location has changed since the description was posted. It is on the side of the highway across from a gas station and restaurant. The buses to the beach are very close but you have to be very careful as you run across the highways. There is a good amount of trash at the camp and volunteers live in tents. Jimena is great and cooks as well as works in the garden and directs the volunteers. The work in the farm was quite hot and a bit buggy, but overall enjoyable.
