    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We have hosted people from all over the world over many years and would love to learn from you about your culture and food.
You could learn from us about growing organic food, permaculture and preserving the produce and using in cooking.
There are a range of ways we grow food- vegetable gardens, fruit trees, a food forest and greenhouse (we even grow bananas in our cool temperate climate).
We try to live a sustainable life, producing much of our own food, low waste/rubbish, using solar energy and eating mainly plant based meals.
So you could learn about how we live in this southern part of Australia.

  • Help

    Help

We particularly would like help with some building projects, such as repairing decking on the tree house. Some building or carpentry skills would be valuable.

We use permaculture principles and grow an organic food producing garden.

We need help with the garden work such as harvesting vegetables, cooking produce, preparing garden beds and planting seedlings.

So it's active work. An interest in growing food would be good. We can show you what to do, so you don't need to be very experienced in gardening.

    Accommodation

The current accomodation bedroom has a queen sized bed that can accommodate two people. The room has a desk and a TV. There is a shared bathroom.
We anticipate eating meals together and sometimes cooking together in the main kitchen.
We eat mainly plant based meals using produce from our garden and local organic farmers (including some free range eggs and sustainably caught fish). One house member is fully plant based (vegan).

  • What else ...

    What else ...

This is a very popular tourist destination with the world famous Healesville Sanctuary (zoo with Australian animals).

There are opportunities for exploring the local township and region- nature, markets, art and wineries. We are located a short walk to the main shops, food, cafes, art galleries, gym and public transport.

We look forward to sharing what our beautiful region has to offer.

We are also accessible to the city of Melbourne via public transport, which has much to offer in arts, culture, food, events, sports, parklands, nature and architecture.
