Tessa is a lovely helpful lady who loved the animals and worked well within the team. She took responsibility and her tasks here seriously. She was a great help and would be welcomed back here any time.

I learned so much from my time here! About presence, nature, singing, friendships and veganism. It was special to get to know Milou, she is truly a unique, kind and hard-working soul. The space she is creating and the dream she is slowly making come to life is inspiring. I first spent two weeks with her and three other volunteers in December. There was a lot of different things to do around the house, like breaking down parts of a wall and fixing the bathroom sink with beautiful ceramics. It was cold in the house, as one can expect from the houses south in Europe during winters. I came back for two weeks in January and paid to participate in her co-living artist residence with five creatives from the Netherlands. This was really cool and heartwarming! Morning circles, story nights, good conversations around the dinner table, and hiking trips at the coast. She gives people a good opportunity for people to share of themselves and to teach what they know to others.

We had a really wonderful three-week stay with Michelle and can highly recommend her as a Workaway host. The property is beautiful and very peaceful, and the treehouse is truly special. We really enjoyed the forest view from our bed and the warm and cozy atmosphere. During our stay, we worked on a variety of tasks around the property, including building a cat run for Chilly Bobby (he loves it :)), oiling the wooden table and preparing the deck for spring. The work was always very fair, varied, and enjoyable. Communication with Michelle was always clear and easy, both before and during our stay. We especially appreciated her flexibility with the work schedule. Most of all, we really enjoyed our open and interesting conversations at dinner time with her! Starting to exchange idioms from our languages was a fun highlight! We also had the chance to meet Chris, who stayed for a few days, what was very nice as well! We also loved spending time with Colby and Chilly Bobby. They are both super sweet, and we were happy to look after them for a few days while Michelle was away. We felt always very comfortable and welcome throughout our stay. We would happily come back, and we’re looking forward to staying in touch and seeing Michelle again soon in the future. Thank you again for everything! Lorena & Marvin

Hola, It's Kata and Enikő from Hungary. We loved staying with Carmen and the doggies! It was a really relaxed 5 days, exactely what we needed. The work was easy, sweaping up the floor, cleaning a little bit after the animals, and taking the dogs for a short walk twice a day. Carmen cooked delicious meals for lunch, we had full exess to the kitchen and there is a bigger shopping center a 20 minutes walk away, where we could find everything for the breakfasts. We could even use the washing machine. To get there at first we took the public transportation from the Lima Airport (with suitcases what turned out to be a stupid idea), but on the second bus some really nice ladies told us, that it's not safe to take the bus with luggages, so we ended up taking an Uber instead. All in all a really great experience, thank you for having us! Kata&Enikő

I’ll always remember this experience, as it was my very first time volunteering, and I feel so lucky that this is where my journey started. I stayed for a month and met over 30 amazing people from all around the world, which made it even more special. I got to experience so many “firsts”: planting, seeding, taking care of animals, cooking for 20+ people, and living in an international community. This place taught me how to live more attentively and simply, and I’m leaving with so many meaningful memories and practical life skills that I know will stay with me. Big thanks to Burak and Berk for creating such a beautiful opportunity, and to Murat and Aytin Abla for all the teachings and for sharing such a genuine volunteering spirit. + And I’ll definitely miss Cacky (the cat) 🐾

I had a great time for two weeks with Louis and Ting! They are really hard-working and chilled at the same time, which is a nice combo. Louis gave good instructions for the boat work, and was patient with teaching me how to use tools. Ting was a great cook and hostess for events on the boat. Work was very manageable and fun because I learnt so much. They let me park my motorhome on the outside of the boat and be connected to their electricity which I appreciated a lot. Big thanks for hosting me and my videocamera!

We spent a wonderful February in Fjordgård with lots of northern lights and really enjoyed it! It was a formative experience and we would totally recommend it! :) Line and Aakash were super welcoming and supportive, always made sure we had everything we needed and kindly shared some meals with us. The communication when we were alone at the house was fast and easy as well! Because of some weather and ferry issues upon our arrival they let us stay with them in their apartment near Tromsø, which we were so grateful for. Very happy we got the opportunity to do this!

Being here was a very enriching experience for me. The atmosphere is deeply calming – surrounded by endless greenery and the sounds of birds, it feels like a little capsuled paradise. At the same time, it’s nice to leave the property occasionally and explore nearby cities on Sundays. Working as an assistant in the studio was quite challenging for me, especially since I had little teaching experience beforehand. However, once I found my rhythm, I really enjoyed supporting the classes. I learned so much from Andy – her passion for teaching is inspiring, and she generously shares her knowledge and expertise. The sense of community is very special. Being around people 24/7 creates a warm, almost family-like environment with the guests. That said, it can also feel intense at times, especially for people who are more introverted. As an artistic person, I felt incredibly inspired here. I had the chance to work on my own projects, even during working hours when all other tasks were done. Two great add-ons are also that the food was absolutely incredible as well as the four cuddly, super-cute dogs. I gained a lot from this experience – both personally and creatively. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be immersed in a creative environment and is open to a rewarding challenge. Thank you Andy, Anya and Amisha!

Brogan was an absolute pleasure to have with us. From the very beginning, he showed a genuine willingness to contribute and quickly became a meaningful part of our community. He didn’t just help with day-to-day tasks, but left behind valuable materials and laid strong foundations that will support everything we’re building operationally in the year ahead. He approached everyone with respect, openness, and a positive attitude, which made working together easy and enjoyable. His presence had a really good impact on the group as a whole. We’re truly grateful we had the chance to meet and work with him. Brogan is someone who brings both practical value and a great human energy wherever he goes, and we’re confident he’ll continue to make a difference in the communities he joins. Thank you!

This was my first time volunteering through Workaway. I’m so glad I chose this programme as my first Workaway experience. I stayed with the organisation for 6 weeks (December 2025-January 2026). It was a pleasure to spend Christmas and New Year with the community and fellow volunteers. The whole experience was truly life-changing, in large part because of the beautiful people I was able to encounter throughout my stay. This was also my first proper experience of Africa. From the minute I landed I was well looked after by the staff – they go above and beyond to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment. I was supported both in terms of the project, and in terms of getting the most out of the experience; being able to visit the various cultural and natural hotspots around Arusha (markets, museums, waterfalls, hot springs, national parks etc.). The experience was a perfect balance of working to achieve meaningful impact, whilst experiencing local culture and adventure :) I can't reiterate enough – it is the people that make the experience. Arusha is a challenging place – beautiful and vibrant. It's a unique experience. Being able to have that experience with like-minded but diverse individuals – locals and volunteers – has been truly life-changing. I am forever grateful to my fellow volunteers and the Arusha family that made me feel so at home.

Austrian countryside is beautiful, the dog and chicken were a pleasure. I dont understand why she booked me with another WA at the same time, I slept on the floor in a crowded storage/previous room. I felt bullied many times. She was trying sometimes to be nice to me. Was hostile as I didnt have same political opinions, Im a pacifist. Nice house, breakfast was great. Meal times at 20.00pm and 11.00am shook my rhythm upside down. Im not too obsessed with porkfat and pork meat. I tried to work my best. Short stay, she wished that I dont end up being homeless, kindly said... She was rushing to a funeral and I was on her way as the other WA left.I got to experience a WA room with space after that. I think to me she was a rude person and selfish to handle a foreigner in general. Very insulting and I had to swallow a lot of untactful verbal behavior from her side. To advertize her profession here, well watch out telling her your private matters, she doesnt respect your privacy, she gossips around. I heard about the previous WA burnout and issues of her clients. If you like countryside, pets and gardening, you could check if she likes you but be prepared to leave soon if she doesnt, she will show it openly.

We stayed with Riette from the beginning of November until mid-December. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome. Throughout our stay, we felt truly included in life on the farm. We contributed to a variety of tasks, ranging from gardening and weighing and packing herbs to creating a new map of the farm and doing maintenance work such as painting. We also built a small library for the campsite using leftover pallets. Staying on the beautiful farm in Piket-Bo-Berg was a very valuable experience. We really enjoyed our time there. From the many dinners we shared, to meeting friends and family, exploring the environment, attending the local farmers’ market, and even experiencing a real South African wedding. We would highly recommend staying on this farm for a while. Riette is a very kind, social, and caring person. She thinks along with you and is a great conversation partner.

Suse stayed with us for 6 weeks in autumn (initially 4 planned) and really helped all around. She is very skilled, can probably do anything she puts her mind to, and is also organized. Being somewhat more experienced that you average volunteer she was helping in organising the volunteer experience more than others. She was also here when some negative energy was about (See Alex's review) which was difficult for her (we only really heard about this afterwards) as she is generally a positive person looking for constructive ways to change situation. If you are a host, you should be so lucky as to find a volunteer so positive and energetic.
