    Description

Hi! We are Ting and Louis :)
We recently bought a 200m² houseboat that we are transforming into both a home and a community project. We live on board and enjoy sharing our experience with travelers from around the world.
The houseboat that we're building is part of an association to organise some cultural events for the city. We also host international events on board throughout the year.

You'll have your own room( private room ) with a double bed and comfortable living conditions. However, this project is not suitable for everyone. We are looking for volunteers who meet the following criteria:

-Being a minimum handy ( experience with screwdriver is mandatory).
-Willing to help on daily chore.
    -Having already one workaway done.
    -Enjoying social life!

If you are missing one criterion but you are highly motivated, feel free to write to us :)

Louis used to volunteer through Workaway to learn new skills and gained valuable experience for his engineering career. Now, we are happy to give back by sharing our experience in traveling and hosting through this boat project.

We provide daily tasks but you can also start any project you would like by your own tasks after you understands the current status of the work. We don't check the working hours but we want to see significant results weekly. Some candidates can finish the work tasks in the way within 3 hours while others would take more hours in a day. It really depends on your DIY skills.

If you’re here to learn and try new skills, that’s great. We understand it might take more time as you practice. If you master in a task, we trust you can handle it efficiently and fit it into less hours.

We both work full-time remotely during the day, so we usually work together on the project in the afternoons and evenings. This is also when we can teach skills, answer questions, and share knowledge.

Life on board is collaborative: we take turns cooking, cleaning, doing dishes, laundry, and other daily tasks. We aim to create a friendly, respectful, and social atmosphere where everyone feels involved.

Watch out : the room and volunteer work is booked for you only when you send us your train ticket/plane/bus confirmation.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

French and English are spoken daily on the boat, making it a great opportunity to practice fresh if you wish.

We treat volunteers as teammates and friends, valuing initiative, communication, and mutual respect.

Beyond the work, you'll join a friendly community: every two weeks we host a “Help & Meet” where locals come together to help on the boat and share dinner. We also organize events every 2–3 weeks, from cozy dinners to lively parties. Volunteers are welcome to join and can even take part in organizing these events.

We recently bought a 200m² boat to live on, and there’s a lot of projects going on.— we’re looking for volunteers who are excited to get involved and enjoy hands-on projects. Experiences is a big plus — mention it in your first message!

The project tasks will be based on the time period you arrive. You can either choose the tasks that are currently running or we assign to you certain tasks.

We are also expecting some small helps for daily tasks, we are taking turn for cleaning, dishwasher, laundry, cooking ect...

If you are interested in learning some new skills but the tasks are not covering the time you are staying, always let me know.

The main idea is to live on the boat but as the Guests/Helpers.
We live in the original flat built into the back of the boat. You’ll stay in the Crew Room, located at the front.
It is important to provide a decent way of living no matter the state of the boat when there are tasks in the room or in the bathroom.
We are offering the 2 meals.
