• 

  Description

  I own a little home stay on Langkawi island. I have only one room available. I love to host, cooking, singing, gardening and I also run a little massage studio at my homestay.
  
  I am growing herbs, fruits and vegetables. I raise chickens and get their eggs.
  
  I have 5 dogs and 1 cat, who are the main attraction to my animal loving homestay guests. They 'work' for me to keep my homestay guests entertained and free from other predators or pests. I also cater food for dine-in or delivery, from time to time. I also run a day spa at my home.
  
  I am looking for workawayers who are dedicated, tidy, organized, loving animals and not afraid of learning new tasks, getting dirty, responsible, independent and passionate about the work that I am doing.
  
  Minimum commitment is two weeks.

  Things that you can learn:
  
  - How to do housewhole chores (especially for the younger generation today who have no idea at all).
  
  - Fauna and flora in the tropical country island.
  
  - Secret places at the waterfall, beaches, mountains.
  
  - Farming and growing own sustainable food. Local herbs, their benefits and usage.
  
  - Life hacks. Example: how to build a chicken coup, table. How to compose waste and turn it into fertilizer.
  
  - How to care for animals.
  
  - Experinece the local lifestyle and cultures.
  
  - If you are musician , we can also do jamming, live performances, as I am also a singer and know lots of musicians on the island.
  
  - I love to cook, we can exchange some cooking tips.
  
  - I have lots of friends and you may be invited to join me and my friends over dinner, gatherings, parties, get to know the friendly local people and expats.

  Help

  You only need to help me 4-5 hours a day 5 days a week or full time house-sitting when I am away, with the following tasks:
  
  1) Gardening
  Raking the leaves, cutting grass, pruning trees, planting herbs, flowers and vegetables. Watering, fertilizing, pest control etc.
  
  2) Cleaning
  General cleaning of the house, including taking the garbage out.
  
  3) Laundry
  I have a washing machine. Just put them in and then sun drying. Fold them nicely and put them accordingly into the cupboard.
  
  4) Taking care of the animals: 5 dogs, 1 cat, 4-5 chickens and some fish.
  
  Preparing their food and feed them. Walking the dogs everyday. Basically taking care of all animals.
  
  5) General maintenance and fixing of the house. Plumbing or electrical experience is a plus point but not compulsory.

  Air-conditioning room with a double bed. Shared common bathroom and toilet.

• 

  What else ...

  1) You will need to have an international license and rent your own scooter to move around. Grabs are easily available. The nearest shop for meals is about 30mins walk.
  
  2) I have Wifi, but you will still need to get a local sim card for communication through WhatsApp in case when you are out of the house.
  
  3) My place is LGBTQIA+ friendly, serve pork and alcohol, if you have an issue, then you are not suitable to stay.
  
  4) You can cook in the kitchen. I will prepare only basic dry food and ingredients such as rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, biscuits etc. You can get fresh herbs, eggs, veggies from the garden. Other than that you will need to get your own.
  
  5) If you are a vegan, you will still need to prepare meat based food for my dogs and cats, including washing chicken heads, livers, feet... etc. You may also be required to destroy termites nest, hornet nest, killing of pests with insecticide etc. If you think you are uncomfortable, then it is best not to come.
  
  6) Experience is not a must, but the right attitude, humility and willingness to learn are important.
  
  7) Moderation, courteous, easy going, are the keys of my life. If you already have an one-track mind and hard to deal with, you will not enjoy staying with me.
  
  8) Exchange unpaid work with free accommodation and meals, are not volunteering, true volunteering you do not expect anything in return. Therefore I prefer to call you a workawayer, rather than a volunteer. Your commitment to fulfill above requirements are important, as to avoid any mismatch of expectations and unhappiness for both parties.
