Madre Ashanti

We are a couple and we stayed with Siri for 15 days. We were extremely well welcomed by Siri! She is a very welcoming, generous person and a very good teacher! We had a great first experience as English teachers. The children were adorable and it was a real pleasure to interact with them. The classroom is very pleasant (air-conditioned) and very well equipped to give fun lessons for the children! We do not speak English fluently but we still managed to help the children with their learning thanks to the exercises given by Siri and the games available in the classroom. The children also really enjoy drawing! Her house has all the necessary amenities (bathroom, toilets, comfortable bed with sheets provided, equipped kitchen, filtered water...). In short, you feel here like at home and Siri always makes sure that you don’t lack anything! Being able to use the kitchen and cook with the other travelers is great! In the bedroom we can only use the air conditioning for a maximum of 3 hours, but there is a fan for the rest of the night, so it was more than enough for us. So if you want to have a wonderful experience, we highly recommend Siri and her students!

Constantin came at the right time when our projects were in full swing. He gave great ideas and worked hard. His language skills and good communication with the local labourers helped enormously. I miss him very much and I hope that our paths cross again somewhere in the world. We highly recommend Constantin to other hosts!

We stayed at redgum for 5 1/2 months, and would recoomend it! Living in the Outback and getting in touch with so many cool people there was a truly special experience. If you stay here for a while you'll get to know the customers over time! Sonja and everybody else there are super friendly, and made sure we felt at home. Working together was always fun, and we felt super comfortable. Some evenings we also shared meals and barbecues. We will really miss everyone! The job itself was fun too! We worked about 38 hours each week, and the tasks included working on the tills, preparing meals and frying foods, serving customers, stocking shelves and helping with the general maintainance of the shop. Some days were more busy than others, some days there are a lot of customers coming all at once, on other days you'll have more time to prepare, clean, stock things :) We also got the chance of seeing the aboriginal art that is painted there, and getting to know the artists was super cool :) We even took little souvenir paintings home, and I'm happy everytime I look at it. It is a pretty remote location (especially when you don't have a car) so I would reccommend this place to people who are good at entertaining themselves, and bring books, games, art projects etc. for your free time. We've also been there in summer, which made it too hot to spend much time outside, so keep that in mind! But the accomodation was really good, with A/c and Wifi provided :) If you want to experience the outback and have fun working with customers, you'll have a good time here! Thank you for everything!☀️

Daniel was a wonderful volunteer to host. The way he communicated and explained his ideas was truly impressive. He joined us to help with social media management and gave his full effort throughout his time with us. Not only did he complete the work very well, but he also shared thoughtful tips and suggestions on how to make our social media more effective. His ideas were creative, unique, and very helpful, which we greatly appreciated. Daniel’s positive attitude and dedication made a great impression on us. I would definitely recommend him to other hosts and would warmly welcome him back anytime he visits Nepal in the future.

Arefe is a wonderful girl who joined us to help with social media management and did an excellent job. She is kind-hearted, gentle, and a truly sincere person. In addition to her social media work, she kindly stepped in to help in the kitchen when our chef was sick and unavailable. Her willingness to help wherever needed showed her caring nature and positive attitude. Arefe was a pleasure to host, and having her with us was a very nice experience. I would definitely recommend her to other hosts and would warmly welcome her back anytime she visits Nepal in the future.

Elizabeth was an absolute diamond of a host. She accepted our very short very last minute stay and made us feel at home. She has a wonderful house and garden, beautiful beach nearby and fun neighbours! She made us delicious meals and sent us off with some of her incredible home made tomato relish and sriracha sauce. Elizabeth is a very intelligent woman, and full of stories and good conversation and advice to share. And what a great musician when she sits at the piano! She was the surrogate aunty we needed just at the right time.

Lotus and Levi are a lovely hardworking couple. During their 1 week stay, they assisted me with various jobs. Lotus helped cook some delicious vegan meals and replanted my veggie garden. Levi helped me do some house maintenance jobs, he is a very skilled person, knows his stuff. I loved having them stay in my space, they are respectful and fun people to host. I would have them back any time.

I stayed with Larissa for about two months. During this time, I learned a lot from her about life in remote areas. The work was very varied. I did a lot of carpentry, shoveled snow, looked after the rabbits, chopped firewood, and much more. In the afternoons, we did a lot together. We went on ATV rides with her dogs, took trips on the snowmobile, and visited friends. We also had many enjoyable games and movie nights and good conversations. Larissa was an excellent host, and I found a good friend in her. I can recommend anyone to go to Nimpo Lake to enjoy the peaceful nature and Larissa's company.

It was wonderful workaway at Lila, JayaSri and Dammi’s place. Lovely family brings nice people, friends and workawayers, too. They are open mind, thoughtful, cheerful and patient. And they respected my feelings and my skills. I loved their lovely and friendly dogs, too. They welcomed me like their family. That’s why I spent my time with peace of mind. I loved their lovely and friendly dogs, too. They welcomed me like their family. I cooked for ten people sometimes fifteen, JayaSri and workawayers always helped me. I challenged a lot of vegan and vegetarian recipes, I learnt a lot from her. It was amazing! I loved to sell bunch of flowers in Valentine’s Day! I have plenty of time to bushwalking, and relax. I can’t thank you enough. I’ll be back.

We had such a wonderful stay in Sumpango with Andy and Lucky and we feel very grateful for this experience. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us warmly. They even came to pick us up at the airport, which made our arrival so easy and reassuring. During our stay, they also took us on tours to discover Antigua and other places which we really appreciated and enjoyed. We had our own private space, which was very comfortable and allowed us to feel independent. It really felt like having a little home during our time there. Our main tasks were to take care of the animals: the chickens, dogs (Rumi and Capu), and cats (Dobbie and Iroh). It was a real pleasure to spend time with them every day, we will miss them and we were even lucky enough to see some baby chicks! We also helped with the garden whenever it was needed. The tasks were always clearly explained and very manageable. Communication was excellent throughout the stay, and Andy and Lucky were always available if we had any questions or needed anything. We truly enjoyed our time in Sumpango! Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for welcoming us and sharing your home with us. We highly recommend this Workaway !

I spent a week with Glen and Kristen, and it was truly one of my best weeks in New Zealand. There were three Workawayers in total, and we had an amazing time together. The work was varied and very interesting — I learned a lot, especially about building a bridge. We had great moments around meals, shared lots of laughs, and even played board games together. Their property is beautiful, with stunning beaches nearby and excellent walking trails. They also have four magnificent horses. The accommodation was very comfortable, with excellent bathrooms and facilities. Overall, everything about the stay — the work, the location, and the hosts — was fantastic.

I stayed with Victor for one week and had a really positive volunteering experience. During my time there I helped work on the hiking trails as much as the weather allowed, collected and cut firewood, and also helped dig out a buried pipe. The work was varied and felt meaningful, especially being outdoors and contributing to the development of the place. Victor is a kind and thoughtful host who made sure I was always doing well and feeling comfortable during my stay. We had many interesting conversations about our different life experiences, and I truly feel that we both learned from each other. The land itself is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by mountains and forest. It’s a very peaceful place to spend time in nature. I wish I had more opportunities to explore the surroundings, but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate much during my stay. WiFi was not available most of the time, but that actually turned out to be a positive thing for me as it gave me plenty of time to read and disconnect from the online world. Overall, it was a great experience and I’m grateful for the time I spent there. I would definitely recommend this place to people who enjoy nature, simple living, and meaningful cultural exchange.
