So much to say… and yet, it will never feel like enough!
Lara greeted me with such warmth and kindness from the very second I stepped through her door!
You can be sure that this force of nature will give without counting, and teach you everything you wish to know about a wild Canadian lifestyle — all while living in a beautifully wood-heated home

Whether you’re a lumberjack at heart, a crafty hands-on person, an animal lover like me, or simply someone seeking the peace that comes with working outdoors… Lara is without a doubt the one you should turn to!
The wealth of knowledge she carries will only spark your desire to learn more — not just about the new skills awaiting you, but also about the fascinating person that is Larissa.
Believe me, you’ll absolutely want to stay around the table until 11 p.m., trying to win at Ticket to Ride (board game), surrounded by sincere laughter and a warm cup of hot chocolate!
Here, you’ll have your own room — cozy and charmingly furnished — making you feel truly at home. And as I write these words, I realize that with Lara, I genuinely feel at home, without even missing my family… so thank you, sincerely, for that, Lara — my dear friend.
In this house, dogs and humans are equals, and the hearty meals that will warm your belly… well, her three adorable dogs will get their fair share too!
There is so much to learn here, and if you’re the kind of person eager to grow or develop new skills, don’t hold back!
You certainly won’t be disappointed by the many activities awaiting you during your stay: fishing (even ice fishing!), bonfires on the lake… and on solid ground too ;), archery, rifle shooting (safely, of course ;)), hikes on foot or by quad — always accompanied by her three dogs: Honey, Salt, and Pumpkin.
Having spent nearly 5 months with her, trust me when I say — no matter how long you plan to stay, you won’t regret it!
With that, I wish all the happiness to my sincere and dear friend, Lara.Left by host for Workawayer (Leelou)
Leelou was an absolute blessing to have here. She is incredibly hardworking, independent, and able to take initiative without needing supervision. Every task she took on, she completed with excellence, care, and a fantastic attitude. No fuss, no complaints — just consistent, high-quality work.
Leelou has an amazing gift with animals. Watching her
… read more work with my three sheep and two goats and rabbits was nothing short of inspiring. Her natural way with animals is truly special. Her dog, Pomme, is equally wonderful — so sweet, well-trained, and a joy to have around. Both I and my three girl dogs will deeply miss him.
Leelou’s strong, independent spirit, can be challenging but she is dedicated, and her kindness left a lasting impression. I can’t recommend her highly enough. In fact, I’m sending her information to all my friends! Anyone lucky enough to host Leelou will be truly blessed and get a lot done!!
Thank you, Leelou your very special and I wish you an amazing journey forward.

I stayed with Lara for a week with some other workawayers. The work was fun and Lara trusted us with everything, we shared some nice meals and desserts and she provided anything I asked for as a vegan. On the free time we went out exploring and she gave me recommendations in the area. Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to stay at her

I had three lovely workaways during the time Maayan stayed with us. He was helpful and vibrant. Always up for adventure and hiking. A great violinist which added ambiance in the evening. He worked well with others and was a key in finishing the wood tongue and groove siding in the master bedroom. I am very grateful for his presence and help. All

I lived with Larissa for six weeks between December and January and it was incredibly eventful. During the week we worked on lots of building projects and at the weekend we did all kinds of crazy things.
Larissa lives alone with her four wonderful and energetic dogs. Larissa was always very caring and respectful. I had my own little room in the
… read more house where my privacy was very much respected. We always cooked something together in the mornings and evenings and worked together outside during the day. We completed smaller projects, such as insulating the generator room or painting the bakery. But we also had a big project where we built a whole garage. I got to know Mike and his son, who are also super nice, and I won't forget them soon. Other tasks were trail cutting or splitting firewood.
At the weekend we were often out on the ATV, hunting, ice fishing, or snowmobiling. Walking the dogs on the ATV every day was also a lot of fun.
It's important to mention that Nimpo-Lake is very remote and a tiny community in Canada. Many are very religious, and the community has its own rules. In my time, we had frequent visits from friends from Whistler or visited friends, which made it more varied for me.
In summary, my time with Larissa was very unique and life there is fundamentally different compared to life in the city. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
