Description
We are a family of 4, who are all vegetarian or vegans, living on a 25 acre organic farm in NW Tasmania. Our main crops are potatoes, cherries, apples, peas, etc. We also have three cows, a goat, and 3 dogs that are part of the family. As well as increasing and improving the gardens we have been converting some of the out buildings to accommodation. This property used to be two separate dairy farms. So there are two farm houses and two sets of out buildings providing lots of accommodation. We provide nice vegan meals (milk products are only available from our own cows when giving milk as the dairy industry is too cruel to support). We normally have many helpers in the summer months as we provide nice accommodation and meals to all plus Tasmania is a popular tourist destination in the summer. We encourage all to stay for at least one week to become part of the family. It is a 45 minute drive each way to bring helpers from Burnie to the farm.
Wildlife and bush walks are at your doorstep here. A 30 minutes hike to the water fall and 15 minutes hike to the platypus ponds. On clear days we can see the ocean near Boat Harbour. We try to take the helpers on a family outing to the beach or another nice setting once per week as the weather allows.
We have also been able to occasionally find helpers staying with us full time employment in the local area.Types of help and learning opportunities

There is first class accomodation here with unlimited internet and an excellent water supply. There are a 4 bedroom, 3 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and 1 very large bedroom houses on the farm all with electricty, plumbing and internet. Each has is own kitchen, bath, and wood heater. Often helpers have there own bedroom, kitchen, and bath. But sometimes many helpers like to stay at the same time so all happily share facilities.
What else ...
Bush walks start outside the door with plenty of wildlife to be seen.
The nearest shops and public transport is 25km away. We can gather people up from Wynyard , the nearest city with regular public transport as needed. We can also pick people up from Burnie Airport, which has flights from Melbourne.
There is good telstra signal here and unlimited wifi.
We have the best water in all of Australia and as much of it as you care to drink or bath with.
There is a small water fall and large lake within walking distance with swimming for the brave ........ the water is cold!
On clear days we have views of the ocean from the farm.
About once per week we have family outings with the helpers to the beach or picnic in the nearby forest.
Our goal is to have everyone who visits here to be happy they did.A little more information
