Description
We’ve recently purchased a beautiful lifestyle property in North Canterbury and are looking for friendly, practical helpers to stay with us and lend a hand with a variety of projects as we settle in.
We also have horses, so if you have experience and interest, we’d love help with them too — but this is entirely dependent on your comfort and skill level.
In return, you’ll be staying in a relaxed, welcoming home with a social, easy-going couple who genuinely enjoy meeting new people, sharing stories, and learning about different walks of life. We’ve both had plenty of life experiences and value good conversation, laughter, and shared meals.
Our location is a big bonus:
Close to stunning beaches for swimming and horse riding.
Conveniently near the highway.
Easy access to Amberley, Leithfield, Rangiora, and Christchurch.
We’re also developing a second property for sale, so there’s always something interesting happening and plenty of variety in the work.
If you enjoy the outdoors, animals, and a friendly household where you’re treated as part of the family rather than just extra hands, we’d love to hear from you 🙂
We have plenty of spare rooms so can accommodate couples and we have more than one bedroom available. You will have your own bathroom.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We’re a friendly Kiwi couple who enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and sharing everyday New Zealand life. With us you’ll get a taste of relaxed “Kiwi culture” — barbeques, chats over dinner, beach trips and spending time outdoors. We’re happy to share what we know about our local area, native plants and wildlife, and (for those interested) a bit about horses and rural living.
In return, we love learning from our guests — new recipes, languages, stories, traditions and different ways of seeing the world. For us, cultural exchange is simply about sharing daily life together with respect, curiosity and a sense of fun.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
Help is mostly light to moderate outdoor work, such as:
Painting and general maintenance.
Gardening, pruning, and fencing.
Odd jobs around the property.
Help with fence painting, feeding animals, gardening, cleaning windows , handling horses etc. I am a qualified carpenter and will be working along side you and my partner is an experienced horse rider.
