Pasé unas tres semanas en la casa de Rafael y tuve una experiencia muy linda. Me sentí muy bien en la casa y con su ritmo de vida. Pude hacer varias recetas y pasear con el perro, Guardián, por el barrio, que es súper agradable. Gracias, Rafael, por ayudarme con mi proyecto personal y por llevarme a distintos lugares. La pasé muy bien y fue un gustazo encontrarles. Abrazos !

When people think about discovering Italy, the Aosta Valley is rarely the first place that comes to mind. But if you are looking for authentic Italy, great food, and genuine hospitality, Alessandro and Nicole’s locanda in Emarèse is the perfect place! The Aosta Valley offers breathtaking landscapes with rugged mountains and historic ruins, and Emarèse, a small village at over 1,000 meters, gives a glimpse of a kind of mountain life in Italy that many would not expect. What I will remember most, however, is the warmth of the people and the strong sense of community. Alessandro and Nicole have created a truly special place in the mountains with their locanda, a welcoming meeting point where locals and visitors come together. The atmosphere of the work was always relaxed, and I especially enjoyed working with Marco in the kitchen. His food is fantastic, and I learned a lot from him about Italian culture, cuisine and so much more. I can only recommend coming to Emarèse and especially staying at Alessandro and Nicole’s locanda. It is a truly special place with a warm atmosphere, great food, and wonderful people. I very much hope to return someday!

Lisa-Marie ”Kalina” Was the best that can happen in a winter time garden as a helper! Fast learning, easy going and intelligent. Kalina understands the need trough her intuition and is self going. Take initiative and is never on the way or disturbing. Was an incredible help for us to have her helping to recréate the garden in a permacultural way. And specially the compost. And planting new veggis on the prepared beds. She cooks delisious too and keeps all clean around her. Fullt recommend her if you are the lucky host she want to help and share her energy with.

Sophie and Tina stayed three weeks at my home. They adapted to our way of life quickly, were up to any tasks that were asked, quiet, hardworking and excellent with communication. At my home they were responsible to walk the dogs daily as well as some dog foot washing as it was muddy and wet here. We did some hard work getting wood split and stacked. Communication was essential as we had to work together to get a big task done as well as be safe while doing so. They took on the tasks without complaint and were eager to learn. I feel that they would be a welcome addition to any household and could perform any task that was asked with confidence. They also took care of the dishes daily as I did the cooking while they were here and did a good job.

We loved hosting Merle. She melded into our rather haphazard, chaotic home with grace and friendliness. She was able to work independantly, grasping what was required with a "professional" manner. Her tasks included all aspects of gardening, making pickles and preserves, interior painting, looking after the chickens and entertaining and walking our dog among other things. We will miss her smile and good conversation - and of course our spotlessly clean kitchen. All the best, safe travels and please know you are welcome back any time

Nonso is an incredibly kind person with a very calming, beautiful energy and a generous soul. He is a fast learner and follows every rule very strictly. He is super responsible with his tasks, recognizes ways of improving work processes and is very respectful with his volunteering. He is super interested in culture and tried to explore as much of Colombia as possible during his stay. We loved to have him around and would be very happy to welcome him again in our little home another time. Thanks for everything Nonso & hope to see you soon again!

My friend and I stayed at the rescue for two weeks, and would have stayed longer if we could! It takes a few days to get the hang of the routine, but once you do, it is the most wholesome experience. The environment is stunningly beautiful, the accommodation is comfortable and private, ALL dogs are absolute sweethards, and Dave and Lucy are incredibly hospitable and happy to help with anything. I truly hope I'll have the opportunity to come back one day.

We spent two weeks at this place and we loved it! The staff and long-term volunteers all made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We worked with capuchin monkeys and baby howler monkeys and we both loved the shifts. Although doing shifts on really hot/rainy days can be tough (especially if you’re not used to the jungle conditions) seeing the monkeys having fun in their natural habitat distracts you from the harsh conditions; you have a unique opportunity to observe and help them improve. We also loved doing shifts with Santa and we miss her very much! The ‘jungle conditions’ have bonuses too however, such as seeing countless amazing birds, snakes, sloths, bushdogs and more, as well as offerring a digital detox. We also learned a lot about behaviour, the nature of monkeys and what to do if you see someone with a pet monkey - useful knowledge when traveling in Bolivia/South America. There were also some rescued birds and a bush dog living in the centre and we had a chance to learn more about them. Kyra, the bush dog, is so lovely and loves human company. The food for volunteers was tasty and all vegetarian. For light sleepers we would recommend bringing earplugs because with around 15 various volunteers living in the two dormitories you can easily get woken up…Although we got lucky to spend the last few days in the cabaña, which was lovely, quiet and is usually reserved for long-term volunteers. There is a whatsapp group for past volunteers where you can get updates on the monkeys after you leave which we think is really nice and valuable. We are hoping to come back one day as we loved this place!

Dave was fantastic. He arrived with a smile every day and always brought great energy and a positive attitude. When it came to the work, he never cut corners. he consistently went the extra mile and made sure everything was done to the highest standard. He was also excellent at socializing and made a real effort to ensure our guests felt comfortable and at home. I can highly recommend Dave and would happily welcome him back anytime. 😊

I really enjoyed being part of your Workaway journey. Your hosting was truly a pleasure, and I appreciate you accommodating me last minute. It was my first time, so I was a bit nervous at first, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Thanks for making it such a positive one!

I'm so sorry that I did not write a review for you much much sooner! The seasons haven't let me go... Lotta and Jos are fantastic people to spend time with and the kind of work that they achieve on the farm was truly exceptional. They created all sorts of really great ferments and conserves entirely for of their own creation. I felt very comfortable leaving them to create with what was being harvested. I'm still enjoying what they have created now many months later . The fermented tomatoes are still my favorite. They were very conscientious and worked overtime far too much so i eventually took them with me into the mountains for some days off well earned. Great times with these people

Prashant has a beautiful hotel which made my stay in Khajuraho really memorable. I recommend all travellers to stop by Khajuraho, it's in the middle of the way and honestly the best monuments of India. Prashant wants volunteers who have a plan in mind. In my case that was to clean the food forest. But you will come, see it and you will know what's your call. If you have skills you want to apply make him know, because I am sure he can find your skills a place there :)

Freya and Robert are really good workers and kind people. They stayed with me for 3-4 weeks here in Sicily in June 2025 and and my place were their first WorkAway place. They both work really fast and good. Freya is a perfectionist and a wonderful organizer. I was smiling more times a day of all the things that she had done better/more pretty/more organized than I had expected and offend with things that I had not even asked for. They both work very effectively, independently and just need a few instructions. Robert worked really hard in the garden even though it was getting very hot in the periode they were here. Freya and Robert are super friendly, likable and open. They like to have a strict schedule around their working hours. I truly enjoyed having them both here and I am still in contact with them. I can highly recommend them and you are very wellcome to contact me for more information.

Avere Mark come workawayer è stata un’esperienza splendida, soprattutto perché era la mia prima volta come host e ammetto che ero un po’ timoroso. In pochi giorni, però, Mark ha completamente ribaltato le mie aspettative: è stato una presenza positivissima, discreta e sempre rispettosa degli spazi e dei ritmi della casa. Ha lavorato con grande cura e responsabilità, mostrando un atteggiamento collaborativo, affidabile e proattivo. È una persona pulita, ordinata, silenziosa, educata, gentile e sempre disponibile ad aiutare nel miglior modo possibile. Ho apprezzato molto anche la sua capacità di osservare, capire cosa serviva e intervenire senza mai essere invadente. In sintesi: un ospite eccezionale, maturo, equilibrato e piacevole da avere accanto. Grazie a lui ho davvero imparato ad apprezzare lo spirito di Workaway e le sue finalità. …. e finalmente ho iniziato a familiarizzare con l’inglese, sob! Lo consiglierei senza esitazione a qualsiasi host.

Where to begin… we truly couldn’t have asked for a better first Workaway experience. From the moment we arrived, Marta welcomed us and made us feel completely at home. She involved us in her daily life and activities as if we were part of her family, which meant so much to us and brought a lot of warmth during the cold Swedish winter. We shared many evenings playing Yatzy, backgammon and Mexican Train in her house surrounded by the forest, with a magical and slightly mysterious atmosphere… and just a little warning: don’t get upset if she always wins! 🙄🤭 Marta and Tumla will always have a very special place in our hearts. We will never forget this experience 🧙🏻‍♀️🐶💚

Tom is a personable young man who came for a few days, but stayed longer. He joined in with family activities and worked diligently at every task he was asked to do. I enjoyed our conversations, especially in the evenings and was able to help him with his forward travel. Tom is learning many life skills in New Zealand and he could soon become a Kiwi bloke. Thank you for all you did for me, Tom and may you have many more months of meeting people in this country.

We had a very good time with Nina – she is a wonderful person and workawayer. She helped us a lot with gardening and harvesting willow. She was also always busy in the kitchen baking cakes, tidying up and helping out. And it was a pleasure to play chess with her! A pity that she stayed only a week. Thank you Nina and we look forward to hosting you again in the future.

Very good!!! We’re about to leave and we want to leave this comment because this place has truly been special for us. We spent almost two months here and met so many people. The experience of living in a big house with so many people was really a learning opportunity, and we’re happy to have the chance to travel and discover places like this. A heartfelt THANK YOU to Berk, who has always been so kind and attentive to our questions and needs; to Murat, for the laughs and lessons about plants; to Aslio and Görkem, for their great energy while working; and to Burak, for accepting us as volunteers and allowing us to stay for a good while! We spent three wonderful weeks at Marie’s place and would like to thank her for a valuable experience and truly beautiful accommodation. Unfortunately, we arrived at a time when Marie was going through what was probably one of the most difficult periods of her life. For that reason, we are especially grateful that despite the situation she was always kind, welcoming, and willing to make our volunteering and our stay in the beautiful County Clare as pleasant as possible. Our work mainly consisted of cleaning two apartments that Marie rents out to guests, as well as helping with various tasks in and around her house – mostly cleaning and some painting. We stayed in a beautiful, modern, and very clean mobile home in the garden. According to the description of the offer we did not expect this, so it was a very pleasant surprise and we really enjoyed staying there. The surroundings are beautiful. About 2 km from the house is the village of Liscannor, where the regular bus line 350 runs towards Galway and Limerick. During our stay we visited Cliffs of Moher, Galway, Limerick, Ennis, Doolin, and even the Aran Islands – all accessible without having our own car. Marie was also always happy to give us a lift and kindly bought groceries for us when we needed them. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone. Faith is a wonderful human being and hopefully you can be as lucky as we were to have her come visit! She definitely goes above and beyond what is asked of her and she has many skills, lots we were not able to utilize. We would definitely accept her back if she ever wanted to come for another visit!
