    Description

    We have vacancies for workers

It's a good idea to check out Great Barrier Island where we live and how to get here before you apply

We (husband and wife) live in a large architecturally designed house on 4 hectares of land overlooking Tryphena Harbour
We have a large garden - both ornamental and vegetables from which we eat. While not totally organic we try to use organic techniques to grow our food
We have a small boat and always need encouragement to take time off and go fishing.
We always have masses of projects going on, as we attempt to be as self sufficient as possible - without losing out on the luxuries of life. Our projects include gardening, chickens, wormfarms, building, websites etc etc
Great Barrier Island has no reticulated power or water. So we have 16 solar panels, which provide most of our power. Our water is from a spring (imagine water that has been filtered for thousands of years) or rainwater.
Our water is heated by the sun, and when this isn't hot enough we have a wetback to warm it. Heating is with a fire. But this been said we have all the modern appliances - to make life as easy as possible.
We always have lots of projects But this year what we are concentrating on is:
The garden - both vegetables and ornamental. While not 100% organic we use organic principals to grow the food we eat. So tasks include seed raising, planting, weeding, pruning, mulching and harvesting.

    Collecting and preparing firewood
Painting - both interior and exterior
    Gardening, gardening and more gardening
    Looking after the chickens ,
Composting - including collecting seaweed etc.

Look forward to hearing from you

I also appreciate if you let us know if you have specific dietary requirements or allergies. Living on an island it can be really hard to cater for these.
