You spent 64 days with us in the Central Highlands, fully immersing herself in our daily routine. From waking up early for learning support programme, Science class teaching and computer lessons, her dedication was unmatched. She was also a great help with first aid, sports, and various school activities. Her interaction with our boarders was so meaningful that they truly feel her absence, and we all hope she can return soon. Our Grade 4 to 6 learners will especially cherish the memories of their computer lessons and the first-ever school newsletter they created with her guidance. Thank you, Maider, for your kind heart and your genuine passion for our children. You are always welcome back!

Paul is a very kind person, interested and open minded. Liberal enough to let other peoples views stand, even he has perhaps an other view. He did integrate him very well in family live. He loves games (real and virtual), but especially board games. He did really good working with us and sometimes also alone: bringing old hay from the mountain down, cutting wood in the barn. Cooking and doing the dishes, collecting wild leek in the forest. And the work was done in good quality and very fast. Thank you very much! And you are welcome to come back. Werner and Monika

My stay at Ove and Emma's farm was amazing! They are honestly amongst the kindest people I have ever met. You can tell that they put a lot of effort in creating a great environment for workawayers to have a good experience. Overall, I felt like they trusted me to do the tasks, and also to take initiatives and come up with ideas to help with things around the farm. In this way it truly felt like an exchange, rather than “just” volunteer work. They answered all my questions with great interest, and we had lots of lovely conversations. I mentioned that I had an interest in gardening and permaculture and they happily shared with me the knowledge they acquired on these topics while working their own land. They also always made sure to provide me with jobs that suited my interests. During my stay I was able to tackle a variety of jobs from tending to the animals, gardening, planting, bike maintenance, and woodworking. I also enjoyed spending some time with Ove and Emma while working, but also to have time on my own and be independent, I think it's a great balance. There was also always room to take a break and chat about things, which made work days very enjoyable. Similarly, they also made sure that I had everything I needed to enjoy my free time. I was very happy to be able to use their electric bike to explore the surroundings and they provided lots of tips on where to go and what to do. Ove kindly offered to go sailing on his boat one afternoon, and it was a really great way to enjoy the sun and discover the island from the sea. They are also very attentive to the wellbeing of workawayers, and they were very proactive in making sure I was having a good time on the farm and feeling okay. Emma always made sure to get sufficient food from the store, and the selection was always thoughtful, there was plenty of food and snacks to make all the meals, even on days off. I think this stay suits fairly independent and resourceful people, who enjoy being social while also spending time alone. I couldn’t ask for a better first workaway experience, and I am very grateful to Ove and Emma!

Henrik stayed with us for four weeks over the summer, and it was a real pleasure having him here. He fit in effortlessly with our family and the other Workawayers, bringing a positive attitude, curiosity, and a great sense of humour. He worked hard on a range of projects, including gardening and helping to build a small cabin, showing great attention to detail and a willingness to learn. Henrik was independent, reliable, and respectful, and we really enjoyed his company during meals and evenings together. We’re very grateful for everything he contributed and would welcome him back anytime.

I spent three weeks at Jing and Anatole’s home, and I’m really glad I chose this place for my Workaway experience!!! My main task was painting in preparation for the summer. The work was very easy, and they explained everything carefully step by step, which made it comfortable and enjoyable!! Their house is close to Château de Chenonceau, and I went for walks there almost every day. On my days off, they also took me to nearby—and sometimes even a bit farther—castles and sightseeing spots!! Jing and Anatole were always thoughtful and caring, and thanks to them I was able to enjoy every single day!! Another wonderful memory is playing board games every night with their two lovely sons!! I truly think this is a perfect place for anyone who wants to create beautiful memories in a special location!!!

I loved staying with Jane and Spen! They are kind and welcoming people, they have a beautiful property, and the best separate cottage for workawayers to stay. I worked in the garden, helped with some house chores, we shared delicious dinners together, and I was invited to the beach, on gorgeous walks, and got to see a lot of the area.

J'ai passé de très bons moments en sa compagnie et le travail a bien avancé. N'hésitez pas je le recommande. Si un jour tu passe par là n'hésite pas à passer.

Erica is one special person and I hope my feedback does her justice. She came for one month and quickly became a part of our family bringing great joy and real kindness into our home. We were genuinely sad to say goodbye. No job was too big for Erica. She was enthusiastic and keen to learn and tried her hand at a variety of jobs including cleaning in our home, cooking (her tiramisu and banana bread were delicious), gardening and building. She is quick to learn, she is curious and she is smart. I can't imagine a job that she couldn't tackle. She works well in a team and when we had two other Workaways join us, she showed her leadership skills leading the team with kindness and direction. She joined us for weekly parkrun events and was enthusiastic in everything she did. We can't recommend her enough. She was pure joy to have in our home and we miss her.

I spent two weeks in the village. Vanya was very kind, helpful and excited to show me her life in the countryside. I learned a lot about gardening, had some of the best homemade foods and met the friendliest pets ever. I totally recommend Vanya as a hostess. Благодаря много! :-)

A truly wonderful first experience as a Workawayer. From the first day on, Milou, Eric and Keet really integrated me into their family activities, which made me feel like I was part of the family. The approach to the work was very relaxed and almost always with other people, which I valued a lot. The accommodation was a very modern and spacious gîte that honestly exceeded my expectations. My favourite part, however, was the food. Every day I had delicious meals, from Indian soups to pizza made in a pizza oven (in my opinion, even better than in restaurants). However, if you are more of an independent person and enjoy some alone time, they respect that. In all honesty, I did not know what to expect from my first Workaway stay, and Milou, Keet and Eric exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend it!

Staying with Anne and Nick was awesome! I felt home and at ease from the moment I set foot in their home: their open communication, genuine interest and comfort with self-service and autonomy supported this. I got to work on things that fitted my profile well, so helping out felt easy and fun. Their project is inspirational and they are as people as well. There was a great balance between work-time and off-time so I had plenty of time to do my own things and explore the lovely area. From both Nick and Anne I got lots of tips of what to do, and help with organising and figuring out some stuff. They were genuinely involved and interested. It felt like I was truly part of the household for a week — may I say even we became like a small ‘family’. :) We shared lovely & healthy meals, great conversations and, (to me most excitingly) nights full of music! Everyone was singing and Anne even arranged for a good friend of them to come over to play guitar and make the evening complete. So much fun!! I am already looking forward to come and stay again when I arrive back in Christchurch after some more traveling around. Thank you so much Anne and Nick!!

I had an amazing time at this fairyparadise of hers. Lou and her cutest doggo Pickels are such amazing beings and they made me feel like home and comfortable in hours! Like agreed from beginning this workaway exchange was more towards housesitting - so sadly I didn't get to spend time with them so much because the deal was that I looked after the house and the garden while they were travelling. Her place is big beautiful land with a lot of options what to do: I was happy to do some gardening and painting while staying there. I really hope to be able to return there again and I would recommend this place for all.

We had the best time helping on Julia and Jackies Farm! We decided quite spontaniously to go to Siquijor and were lucky that they still needed a few helping hands. We stayed for six weeks and got involved in all kinds of farm work, including flipping fields, composting, planting, taking care of the animals, making soy milk and tofu and plenty of other daily tasks. Every day was a little different, which kept things interesting and made the time fly by. What really made this stay special were Julia and Jacky. They are the coolest girls, incredibly knowledgeable and always taking the time to explain everything clearly, especially why each task matters. We learned so much about permaculture during our stay and their lessons were always thoughtful and engaging. Oh, and our game nights with delicious homemade food were so much fun as well. Code names is already on our ‘to get’ list! 😁 Most days we were starting early in the morning, which meant we still had plenty of spare time to explore the beautiful island. We also enjoyed having a kitchen and being able to cook for ourself every now and then. Being part of Atong Baol was great and we would do it again in a heartbeat! See you soon girls!

Our very first Workaway experience — and honestly, we couldn’t have wished for a better one. We were a bit unsure what to expect before Leonardo arrived, but if every Workawayer is like him, we’d happily host someone every week. Leonardo is easygoing, open and very social. From day one, he blended into our family life so naturally that it almost felt like he had always been part of it. He joined us in everything and truly lived alongside us, not just as a volunteer. He is curious, ambitious and genuinely interested in people and the world around him. We really enjoyed talking with him about his ideas, his future and life in general — he’s someone you can have great, meaningful conversations with. He was also incredibly kind and natural with our daughter — playing with her, helping her with homework, and just being very present in a calm and caring way. That meant a lot to us. On a practical level, Leonardo is very respectful and responsible. He took great care of everything and left his space perfectly clean and tidy. Leonardo brings a calm, positive energy and is simply a pleasure to have around. We would recommend him without hesitation — and he is always welcome back.

Hanna was an amazing workawayer to have around for a week. From the moment she arrived, she was helpful and engaging with our little one's and they both clearly enjoyed her company. Hanna happily and confidently spent a few hours a day with one or both of them. It was obvious straight away that she brought a lot of her previous au pair experience and knowledge into our system which made it very easy to entrust her with our kids. Hanna is a lovely person to have around, she's interested and thoughtful, see's what needs doing and we had great conversations with her throughout the week. We would 100% recommend her to anyone else.

I spent 4 weeks in the beautiful mountains of Alvaschein, Switzerland with Sabrina, Mirko, Sol, Amo, and Umo for my first Workaway experience. The house and kitchen are spacious and well-equipped, with plenty of resources and food available. Sabrina and Mirko are extremely kind, empathetic, and genuinely appreciative, and I felt welcomed and included as part of the family. I also really valued how mindful they are—especially when it comes to not wasting food and always making use of leftovers. It took me about two weeks to fully adjust, especially when it came to understanding the kids’ preferences and the overall flow of the home. At the same time, there was flexibility—for example, on some days I prepared breakfast the night before so I could sleep a bit longer. While there was space to be creative, I often cooked according to the kids’ preferences, as they tend to stick to familiar foods. At the dining table, conversations are often in German since the kids don’t speak English, which can sometimes make it harder to follow. Since most of my work was in the mornings and afternoons, evenings were usually free, though internet access is limited, so it’s best to bring your own. The location is truly beautiful, with plenty of hikes and places to explore on days off. I also found Mirko’s art very inspiring and really enjoyed our conversations about veganism, yoga, India, and many other topics. It was also nice to see past Workawayers visiting again, which says a lot about the connections built here. This experience is best suited for someone who enjoys cooking and spending time with kids, and it can be ideal if two people come together to share the workload. I take back with me beautiful memories and I would love to visit them again someday ❤️

Jasmine stayed with us for 6 weeks in January-February and it was an absolute pleasure to have her here. She is very mature for her age, caring, polite and just a super nice person to have around. She immediately fit in with us as if we had known each other before and the girls liked her a lot. She mainly helped around the house, cooking meals, helped with the animals, cleaning the paddock and was an easygoing part of the family. It was also a very 'exceptional' time for us, something that luckily never happened before, while Jasmine was here, as all three of us (me and the kids) were sick and I would have not made it without her help. Jasmine even surprised us quite a few times with special breakfasts like pancakes or with her super tasty banana bread that she made at night after we had gone to bed. That little detail was very sweet and special. Thank you Jasmine. We would love to have Jasmine stay with us at our finca again any time.
