Description
Hi! My name is Henrik, and after 13 years filled with studies, work, and many adventures, I’m excited to head abroad again and offer a pair of helping hands.
I was born and raised in Stockholm, spent ten years living in Berlin between 2013 and 2023, and now live in Bern since 2023, Switzerland, with my girlfriend and our 15-month-old daughter. For the past four years, I’ve been working as a teacher. I hold a Master’s degree in Philosophy and a Bachelor's degree in English from Freie Universität Berlin.
I speak Swedish, Hungarian, German, and English fluently, and I can get by in both Spanish and French. While I already work as a teacher, I’m currently finalising my teaching diploma for the English subject. As part of the program, I’m required to spend four weeks in an English-speaking country and provide documentation of my stay and engagement. My choice of destination: Ireland.
Although I’ll miss my family during this time, I see this as a unique opportunity to help people and communities, and experience that which once shaped me, especially in my twenties, when I spent time volunteering and traveling through South America, the U.S., and southern Spain. (Fun fact: I actually met my current partner during one of those travels.)
Now I’m looking forward to contributing again – learning, sharing, working, and having good experiences along the way. I bring a very broad skill set and I'm comfortable with physical tasks and manual labour.

I hold a Master of Arts in Philosophy and a B.A. in English, and I’m fluent in four languages, with strong skills in both writing and speaking. Over the years, I’ve worked as a translator and editor (lector), content creator, and I have extensive experience as a teacher. I currently teach History, Geography, English, German, Computer Science, Sports, and Ethics. Communication, adaptability, and a good sense of humour are some of my key qualities.
In addition to my academic and language background, I enjoy hands-on work and learning by doing. I’ve helped with light construction and carpentry (including building wooden houses and basic renovations) and am comfortable using tools. I also have experience with gardening, and I enjoy cooking, keeping things clean and organised, and caring for animals – though my experience in these areas varies.
I’m reliable, curious, open-minded, and always eager to learn. Whether it’s creative work, physical tasks, or everyday chores, I’m happy to pitch in and help however I can.

I’ve been producing music for almost 15 years and have performed live on many occasions as a DJ. Music has been a big part of my life. I also enjoy writing and am a passionate reader, especially of literature and philosophy. I’m curious about the world of spirituality and fond of exploring different perspectives and traditions.
In my free time, I like to be with my family – and mostly am at the moment, having a 15 month old daughter – be out in nature, create music, play guitar, write, read, meditate, dance (in various styles), cook, garden, and dive into creative projects and artistic exploration. I enjoy discovering new ideas, places, and ways of living, and I’m open-minded, but also have some principles :)
I’ve also practiced sports my entire life, mostly ball sports and hiking.
Generally, I've always had a very all-rounded nature, being dedicated to what I do.
I am currently looking for a Workaway possibly using my hands a way to utilise skills I have but currently don't use very often. If needed I can help out with gardening, carpentry, writing, artwork, content, and anything really. I also love to learn new things as well as sharing my knowledge.
