Description
Kia ora, hello!
We're Anne (pronounced Ana) and Nick. We're an active, friendly, eco-conscious couple living in Otautahi Christchurch. Anne had a great Workaway experience in Denmark ten years ago.
We're pretty full up over April now, so are unlikely to be able to accept any more Workawayers this month. The key skill we're looking for in May or June is bricklaying! If you're a brickie, or have some good skills in bricklaying, we'd love a hand building a couple of raised garden beds!
We welcomed a Wwoofer into our home a few weeks ago due to serendipitous circumstances, and really enjoyed the experience of hosting her, getting to know her and working on the projects together, so decided to do more of this!
Anne works in active and public transport promotion and education, and Nick is an outdoor instructor. We're both into mountain biking, Anne loves swing dancing and Nick loves running and climbing. We're both on the introverted side of things but friendly and curious.
Our house is 4km from the city centre, with a big garden, and the spare room is nice and comfortable with a queen bed. Our house is near a cycleway and near bus routes to the beach, to Lyttelton and into the central city. We're a vegetarian, smoke-free, pet-free, eco-friendly home. We'll provide breakfast and dinner, and lunch will usually be a 'help yourself to the pantry and fridge' situation. Happy to cater to most dietary requirements - just ask :)

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We're both politically engaged, caring people, with a fair bit of travel experience between us, and have both lived in intentional community for many years.
We are excited to open our home to warm-hearted, curious, motivated people of any age and stage, and are always keen to learn from Workawayers with different experiences and skills to share, and share some of our own with you too.
Help
We're about 6 weeks away from finally finishing our tiny house on wheels, and we're looking for someone with some painting experience to help us paint the interior walls, basic assistance with some of the building work, and also planting 40 wetland plants that will be part of a greywater soak system. There would likely be some other random jobs around the place as well, depending what stage we're at.

Anne loves speaking French. Both Anne and Nick speak the tiniest bit of Italian, and Anne speaks rusty, awkward German as my parents are originally from Germany.
Accommodation
Our guestroom is a nice big room in the main house, with a queen bed.
We offer full board (all meals), though lunch will often be a 'do it yourself, help yourself to what's in the cupboards and the fridge' situation. Happy to cater to a variety of dietary requirements - please let us know if you have any. We're generally a very healthy-eating household.
Access to shared bathroom, internet, all the usual stuff. We do currently have some stuff currently stored in the guest bedroom, like appliances for the tiny house, so it's less tidy than usual!
What else ...
We have a spare bike that Workawayers are welcome to use. The central city is a great place to explore the exciting new city Christchurch has become since the horror of the earthquakes 15 years ago. For adventurous types, the Christchurch Adventure Park is awesome for the chairlift and downhill mountain biking . The Port Hills framing Christchurch's southern parts are amazing for scenic walks, mountain biking and rock-climbing, and the beaches at Sumner, Taylors Mistake, and the bays beyond Lyttelton are great for summer swims and picnics.
