Chris was a great volunteer and a very positive presence at our place. He helped us with a variety of tasks, including removing blackberry bushes, painting, and other general work around the property. He worked steadily, responsibly, and followed instructions well. Chris communicates clearly, is respectful of boundaries, and adapts well to different types of work. We appreciated that he was thoughtful about choosing tasks that suited him best and always followed through on what he committed to. On a personal level, Chris is kind, open, and has a great sense of humor. We shared many good conversations and laughs, and it was genuinely pleasant to have him around. He integrated easily into our daily life and brought a calm, friendly energy with him. We’re very happy he chose our place for his first Workaway experience and can confidently recommend him to other hosts. We’d be glad to welcome him again in the future.

This is long overdue and for that I apologize, Claire. I had the privilege of staying at 'Claire's village' in the summer of 2025. Claire's posting stood out to me when I was looking at the workaway offers in Philippines. Not knowing much about the area, I am glad that this was my first experience of the rural island life in Philippines. Busuanga is beautiful, with Coron being the touristy spot. The surrounding locations are so worth exploring too. And Claire knows some of the best spots in the area. The time I spend there was once in a lifetime, which I hope I can repeat one day. ) There's plenty of projects to help with. It will certainly help if you are handy and like to take charge rather than being supervised and told what to do. Claire is making her best to make sure you are well-fed and that she does utilizing her great cooking skills and the knowledge of the locally available produce. She cares for your overall well-being at all times. Her little homestead has a lot of soul, if you like animals you will meet the friendliest pets. People around are just as friendly. If you miss socializing you don't need to go far to do that, there are other places around that accommodate tourists. Claire's is a cool person to be around; we never ran out of things to do. I would recommend this workaway to those who like to work hard and play hard. If you are responsible and pro-active, you can have the best experience helping the 'Village'. And for both you and Claire I hope it'll be a good match. Thank you, Claire. See you again.

Hannah is such a wonderful woman. She was so easy to get along with. My kids just adored her. She was very helpful around the home and the farm and went above and beyond what we asked of her. I’d recommend hosting her!

We spent nearly a month at Alex and Rico's farm and it has been absolutely lovely; they're extremely kind and communicative people, understanding, open and flexible. The place is peaceful, immerse in nature in a real countryside setting. Also the tasks for workawayers are light and enjoyable; the atmosphere genuinely makes you want to contribute to this beautiful project, but it also provides plenty of opportunities to slow down, reflect, stargaze and meditate. We would surely like to come back and we're very grateful for this opportunity, and most of all for the trust we were given.

Dan stayed with us recently, it took him a few days to find his place with the other volunteers and learn how to live independently in a community style of living, but he got there. The weather was really wet & stormy, so there was not very much work to do as a result. He kept himself busy walking the dog. He was understanding about the power cuts, which were fixed the very next morning both times by checking the fuse box.

Where do I even begin? My experience with Kirsten, Sam and their entire Family and staff was just incredible. I felt at home right away. Their communication was open and honest, and I appreciated their efforts to make me feel included and comfortable in their home. The expectations on both sides were discussed multiple times as we made sure that we were meeting each other's needs. I had such an amazing time bonding with their children and cooking beautiful meals for the family and staff. We had many deep conversations where we were able to bond and share our life experiences. It was truly cultural exchange. I met Kirsten and Sam at a very transitional point in my life and I'm grateful for the opportunity they gave me to experience life in Hermanus with them. The accommodation was beautiful and located in a private wing of the home. Life in Hermanus is magical and that isn't an exaggeration. The scenery, the lifestyle, the people they all make it such an amazing place to live. I miss Kirsten, Sam, & the entire family and hope to reunite with them soon. I'm glad I have family now on the other side of the world. Thank you both of you guys for making my experience truly incredible. This is what travel is about!

Sophie was an absolute joy to host! She and Lucy were truly my 'cleaning angels.' They took on the massive task of decluttering and reorganizing my garage and storage areas with incredible energy. They also helped with the worm compost and general farm tasks. Highly recommended for any host looking for proactive and hard-working guests!

Petra and her family welcomed us with open arms! We had a really, really nice stay with them. We stayed for almost two weeks in winter, caring for horses, goats, and other animals on the farm. Some building work was involved, as well as snow shoveling. We went horse riding quite a lot in the snow, it felt like a real winter wonderland! Petra and her family always made sure we were okay and introduced us to some traditional dishes (watch out for pizza with bananas 😉). We played games together and celebrated New Year’s Eve. Using the sauna and then jumping into the snow was also one of my highlights. We are excited to come back soon!

I loved the experience here. Patrizia and Berthold are both wonderful people, and all their animals are really lovely. In my case, was this an important opportunity to improve my German (I am Italian) but at the same time to learn manual works. Patrizia talked to me slowly and clear. Berthold is a native German speaker and talks a bit faster, but he is super happy to explain you with other words everything you don't understand. They are both calm and let you feel good in any type of situation. They also involve you (for free) in many activities over the work. The food is super and she is avaible to help you for any inconvenience about food (vegan, vegetarian etc...). I feel to absolutely recommend this experience and I am sure I will come back. They are lovely elderly...

I'm so so glad that this was my first workaway! Csilla is such a wonderful and welcoming person from the start and it's a privilege to get to know her. The whole family welcomed me so I immediately felt comfortable. Csilla's great cooking gave me an experience of traditional Hungarian food (which i'm going to recreate at home!) and our conversations taught me insightful lessons about sleep and stress relief through yoga and breathing exercises. So even when small things went wrong (like losing my wallet for a short time) Csilla and Zsolti helped me to stay calm and clear-headed. I was also taught archery which I really enjoyed! I noticed that I slept really well while I was there too, and I think this may be a combination of staying active during the day with their energetic younger children, less caffeine and Csilla's expert knowledge of sleep hygiene. I felt so rested and this helped me to get the most out of my brilliant experience in Hungary. I will definitely be taking these teachings into my life at home. Thank you so much to the whole family and I truly hope that one day we will meet again.

Cristobal is a very cool, welcoming guy. We had a really relaxing time here, caring for the land and keeping the house looking nice. We also helped by preparing clay for the pottery wheel. He let us use the wheel too, for our own projects. In our free time we played chess with Cristobal and explored the jungle , seeing monkeys and amazing birds in the trees! We would really recommend staying here if you can!! Gracias Cristobal :)

Mai is a sensitive and free-spirited person. Very collaborative when asked. With good stories to tell, she's quite an artist. Certainly the best voice that has ever graced our cultural space. Concerned with attracting an audience and improving our finances, she also gifted us with her art by making themed stickers for the bakery. Mai cooks very well and makes excellent salads. We will miss you, Mai. Best of luck on your trip!

This was my first Workaway experience and I had some of the best weeks of my life. Silvia was such an amazing host and has made me really excited for my future Workaway experiences. I stayed for two weeks and did lots of different jobs throughout my stay. I painted a deck, did some weeding, and laid out a garden path. For all jobs Silvia provided clear instructions and made sure that I had the appropriate equipment. She helped me out and showed me what to do but then I was mostly left to work independently. Furthermore, I got to stay at the same time as another Workawayer, which was very enlightening as it was my first experience. Over the two weeks I was there, I noticed that Silvia always made it a priority to include us in her plans and to make sure that we got to embrace the local culture. Some highlights include a trip to the local table tennis club, going on a late night safari, and trying out pickleball with the locals. Moreover, Silvia is such an insightful and great person and taught me so much about the Tasmanian people, animals, and environment. She even found me some books to read on Aboriginal people after we’d chatted about the local history. I also learnt how to drive an automatic and cook poached eggs for the first time. Overall, I had such a great time, which cumulated in an amazing camping trip on Maria Island, so thank you Silvia for an incredible experience!

Hunor communicates very well, he is very interested in finding out about the country for future projects and I think he learn't alot about the good and bad of the interior of Portugal rural life. He mainly worked best with us as Hosts. He spent some time with my parents helping them with various job in the garden& making marmalade. We visited the heritage site of Busaco and he tried a silks session with Liz. He is very eager to learn new things. We wish him all the best with his projects.
