    Description

Hi and a virtual welcome to my stunning 5.5-hectare farm, in the middle of the São Mamede Natural Park, where Spain meets Portugal. The farm is mostly wild forest, with cork oaks, olive trees, and an array of fruitful treasures.

The farm is a hive of activity, with a food forest, two vegetable gardens, and a charming little vineyard project dedicated to crafting natural wine and cider. There's always something to do on the land, from tending the gardens, restoring old terraces, clearing the land to tackle small building projects and even trying your hand at winemaking if you want.
Typically, the workday starts in the morning, lasting about four hours, leaving your afternoons free to explore the area or simply unwind at the farm. Weather permitting, clothing is optional – we're all about body positivity and celebrating our natural selves.

You'll find me, Stephan, your host on the farm. I'm originally from Germany but have spent most of my life living in various corners of the world (UK, Spain, Belgium, Hong Kong, …). I'm a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and this farm is very much a queer space. I often have visitors and friends over, so it's always also a very sociable place to be. Running the farm is a major hobby in itself, and I love cooking and wine. Most meals are shared, and all food is vegetarian (or vegan). My background is in academia, and I started this farm and community project in 2021. I also run a natural wine project and a nearby vegetarian café and guesthouse (just across the border in Spain, in fact!).

Here on the farm, I host ecoqueer gatherings, delving into topics that range from permaculture to ecosensuality, queer theory, and activism. It's important that you feel at home in an LGBTQ+/queer environment.

Sharing this space with us are five furry companions: three dogs and two cats. And beyond that, you'll find a wealth of wildlife around, including boars, foxes, wild cats, dogs, mongooses, and a wide array of bird species.

We have a large alternative community in this area, that often hosts concerts, pizza parties, and a bar with delicious vegan cakes. The surrounding São Mamede Natural Park offers numerous attractions and nature adventures (details below). The farm is approximately 1.5 kilometres away from the nearest shops, bars, and restaurants.

Transportation is convenient with two daily buses running directly from Lisbon and also a more limited service from Madrid. Regrettably, the farm's terrain doesn't allow camper vans to enter.

I’m eager to get to know you better, and personal connections matter a lot to me. That's why I'd love to set up a FaceTime, Zoom, Whatever chat with you before accepting a request – or if you have questions. No strings attached!

The farm is located in the middle of the São Mamede Natural Park, close to the ancient city of Marvão, and around 10 minutes away from the beautiful town of Castelo de Vide and Valencia de Alcantara (just over the Spanish border).

There is a very active community in this area, with plenty of activities: yoga, 5 rhythms, guided nature walks and foraging, pizza parties, artists- and street festivities and much, much more.

There are also many walks, secluded river beaches, lakes and waterfalls and plenty of other opportunities to connect to this beautiful part of Portugal. There are many prehistoric monuments, like cave drawings, monolithic monuments and the ruins of the Roman city of Ammaia.
