I had a very good time at Markus' place. The workload was fair, the people were nice, and there was a lot of nature to discover! Markus was very understanding and chill. I was really able to get away from the rat race of daily life for a bit 😁

Ruth was amazing in completing tasks thoroughly . She cleared a large plot of old plants and trees with both a chainsaw and loppers in readiness for a community garden and cut back an overgrown hedge in her first few days here. She also did a great job in looking after my retriever when I was at work and Aloy became quite attached to her. She happily cooked a yummy dinner and surprise cookies which were great. She was also very respectful of the space and easy to host plus I enjoyed our chats.I would definitely recommend Ruth to any future hosts.

Alejandro was a great Workaway. I enjoyed the two weeks he was here. He was very willing to help and he is interesting, intelligent and a pleasure to be around. He will always be remembered here for the creative names he came up with for the previously unnamed roosters. I highly recommend him and he is always welcome to come back.

We were so happy to host Elea at our farm and felt so lucky she came here. We were so fortunate for her hard working ethics and ability to fit in easily with everyone and all of our 🐴🐶🐷🐔🦆
We faced some challenging farm days but I am grateful for her support daily. Elea has excellent English skills and communication for her was never difficult. Elea carries a smile on her face and is 💯 reliable. Elea helped with chopping wood, cleaning barns, collecting poop and never complained. She enjoyed car rides almost as much as our German Shepard Rumble 😂
We wish all the best to her during her stay in Canada 🇨🇦 ♥️
Elea comes highly recommended 🥰

We have had many volunteers over the years. We had the best and also very challenging people around .
Anthony has been number One of all! We are realising in the past year that ever more people in the search for the meaning of life are traveling. That often comes with a high degree of energy needed to hold, and suport and motivate people.
Anthony was all of the oposite. He just came and got started and never stoped until the literly last hour of his last day.
He ist fast, very fast and just get things done in lightening speeds while others are still talking about what they are gona do He has allready build half a house.
ANTHONY is looking to find his own place on this continent. So if you accept him dont only take adventage of hos skills also show him new ones. He is gona need them once his found his women and place and animals and many kids.
Very recomendable.
Thank you very much Anthony.
You will never be forgoten heere and if ever you need a place to stay youll know where to find us.
Big hugs
Sebatian Cecilia and the team

Tinka stayed one month with us, and we were pleased she chose our place for her trip. She came directly to Nicaragua and stayed during her whole vacation. She adapted so fast to everything here, it was really surprising, because coming directly from Europe the gap is big in term of comfort. She is very kind and funny. We appreciated discussing our current reading and Tinka has many funny stories about everything. Likewise, she's a good cook, and we enjoyed good soups together. She loves animals, which is not surprising for a vegan, and she took great care of our rescued animals, developing nice relationships with our horses and other animals.
We would recommend her as a volunteer. She followed the rules and greatly accomplished her tasks, not hesitating to ask if something wasn't clear. Thank you, Tinka, it was great to have you !

Claudia and her partner Brian stayed for just under a week. They were awesome guests to host- super friendly and positive. I gave them an array of jobs- chopping and clearing jasmine vines, clearing out and cleaning the shed areas, water blasting decks, clearing gutters and so on. All jobs they approached with diligence and enthusiasm. Claudia is a vet and identified an issue my dog had with some helpful recommendations. I’d be more than happy to host both (or either) of them again in the future.

I was lucky to welcome Peter into my home. He is a hard worker, reserved, respectful of household rules, and adaptable to family and work needs. He helped me a lot to organize the land, paint all the doors in the house, and arrange the garage. He showed great sensitivity towards our needs and understanding of the moment. He has a splendid energy, has brightened these days, and given us a push for the next days. Thank you🙏

I `m looking back to a winterwonderland that I experienced - while staying in the cosy house with Michelle and her kids. The view and the sorrounding is very beautyfull and peacefull. Michelle- I had such a nice time with your family and felt from the beginning on welcomed and free to be myself. I had a lot of fun with the kids and found the conversations with you really inspirating. I enjoyed the tasks I got to do and felt apreciated by your feedback. Especially I loved to get an input of your studys and you took me over to very nice places that showed me a lot about Norwegian Culture. Thanks a lot !! Wish you all the best!! ♡

Jonathan has a very deep interest and understanding of Japanese work ethics. His life style was amazing. During his stay, he never failed getting up early, and followed his own morning routine. He was always full of energy, bright spirit and curiosity to learn from whatever experience he had. He does everything, working, studying, exercising and training wholeheartedly and with joy. He said he had practiced Japanese archery.

I had an absolutely wonderful time staying with Kieran in Stanwell Park. The work was very manageable and usually done in the mornings, leaving plenty of time to explore the incredible coastline and surrounding areas.
I genuinely loved the bush and forest maintenance work. Gathering sticks to build the giant nests for the ceramic eggs was such a unique experience. The entire area almost feels like an open-air museum, in a really beautiful way. Planting trees, collecting wood and helping care for the surrounding environment gave me a much deeper appreciation for the Australian bush.
During my stay, I walked through Thirroul, Austinmer, Coledale, Wombarra, Scarborough, Coalcliff and Helensburgh and every place was beautiful and unforgettable. The location itself is amazing: a cozy house right in front of the ocean in a peaceful village, with easy access by train and bus to both Wollongong and Sydney.
Kieran is an incredible person: extremely active, intelligent, creative and full of humour. He is a talented artisan who creates impressive ceramic art and paintings, and our conversations in general were always fascinating. I was also genuinely impressed by his translation work, his intense daily work routine, and the book he wrote about the history of Stanwell Park, which was incredibly interesting both for its historical research and for the personal experiences he shares throughout it.
The atmosphere in the house was warm and welcoming. We shared meals together, I cooked for us sometimes, Kieran also cooked, and on one evening some of his friends came over and cooked as well, which made the experience feel even more special and social.
I truly had a wonderful time there and I’m very grateful for the experience, the conversations and the kindness I received during my stay.

What a legend!
Soph is one of those people who shows up every day with vigor, humour, kindess AND SKILLS! She brought joy to everybody here, cooked delicious food, re-laid a brick path, sorted the farm's building materials, kept the fireside stocked with neatly chopped wood, and basically made this place and even more wonderful place to be than it already was.
We love you Soph :)

I was warmly welcomed and the property itself is large, comfortable, and surrounded by nature. The work Nikki does with the kangaroos is truly exceptional, she genuinely dedicates her life to rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for them.
One very important point is that the host is vegan, which was clearly stated in the listing.
However, future volunteers should be aware that no non-vegan food can be cooked inside the house. For people who are not used to this lifestyle, especially in such a remote location, this can become difficult over time, particularly without access to a car to buy food elsewhere.
The routine and tasks were often not explained in advance, and sometimes we would only learn what had been done incorrectly afterwards. Nikki works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as she herself mentioned. Much of the operational guidance came from other volunteers.
In my specific case, I also work online remotely, and I believe there was a mismatch of expectations regarding availability. The listing mentioned approximately 4–5 hours of work per day, which I interpreted as a part-time volunteering arrangement. I always completed my tasks within the established hours, but during my free time I was not usually available, as I also needed time to cook, focus on my online work, or occasionally go out and explore the area.
I was originally supposed to stay for three weeks, but I ultimately left after two. Although I completed all of my assigned tasks during my time there, I found the experience emotionally more challenging than expected.
Another important point is that the schedule is very rigid. Tasks are expected to be completed at specific times of the day and are generally not flexible, even for general maintenance activities such as mowing the lawn or varnishing wood.
The location is remote, which is important for future volunteers to consider, especially if they do not have their own transportation and would like flexibility to go out, buy food, or explore the area independently. However, Nikki kindly arranges transport to and from Castlemaine train station upon arrival and departure.
To help future volunteers better understand the daily routine and expectations before arriving, I created a detailed guide based on my experience there.

Overall, I deeply respect the wildlife work being done and the dedication behind it. The experience with the kangaroos themselves was incredibly special. However, from a human interaction and communication perspective, my experience was more difficult and emotionally challenging compared to other volunteer experiences I’ve had in the past.

Vivien is a host that I recommend to everyone. She is a very friendly person who did everything possible to make me feel comfortable. The house is welcoming and warm and the surrounding nature is incredibly beautiful. Vivien was my guide in the beautiful town of Kawakawa and helped me whenever I needed it with short English lessons or other questions related to the Maori tradition. I happily helped with a few tasks around the house and at the end of my stay I feel physically and mentally rested. Constantin May 2026.

We are extremely grateful for the volunteer work Darius has contributed. He has been an outstanding volunteer: proactive, reliable, and eager to help in every activity. His friendly, charismatic approach left a positive impression on all our customers and helped spread our message to new people in the community.
