Spending few more weeks in Victoria/SA before winery season begins in February!
My next destination:
Adelaide, Australia - from Jan 2024 until Mar 2024 View allDescription
Hello! I'm Ruth, I'm 27, originally from the UK and in Australia since December 2023. Currently looking for a workaway from the end of Jan/start of Feb for 2 or 3 weeks around Adelaide/SA.
I have worked for the last two years as a junior carpenter, builder and workshop assistant, and am fully proficient in.. pretty much all the tools I think. I have also worked several seasons as a winery cellar hand, and am continuing this in Coonawarra from Feb-May 2024. The aim is to be a jack of all trades, but also master of a couple of them, given time of course.
I've moved around quite a bit and tried my hand a a lot of different things, teaching English in rural Nepal for a year, studying for my biology degree, lots of horticultural work when on a working holiday visa in New Zealand for 2+ years, youth work, and the aforementioned carpentry, construction and winery work.
I play cricket and badminton, do a lot of medium/long distance hiking and camping, and enjoy cooking, baking, Star Wars, cross stitching, a bit of guitar, chilling in libraries, getting to know people, sharing skills and learning new things from each other. I have recently bought a car for the first time in my life, which is exciting and opens up more opportunities.
I would be very open to any workaways where I can build on my existing skills, in particular with different types of building and carpentry (tiny houses?), ramble about some nice bushland, live in a community and encounter new ideas that have never crossed my mind before.Interests

We chatted about both being a host and workawayer which with it being my first hosting was really very useful, thank you Ruth.
We discussed tasks, how I would like it done, Ruth took this on board, she carried all tasks out to a high standard, I'm so pleased… read more

The land is in a beautiful part of Pembrokeshire with lovely views down into the valley and plenty of walks and paths around to explore. Keith introduced myself and another workawayer to lots of people in the local area and in and around Narberth, and meeting and… read more
