Description
We are an Irish couple that have moved to a house in Rauland, Vinje, Norway with our joyful 6 month old baby boy and 3 year old boy. We’re looking for some help! My name is Michelle and I am married to Declan. Declan runs different music and arts festivals and events, and I work in a department of traditional arts in a university, currently researching a very old Irish vocal practice and its benefits for our health and wellbeing. We are a relaxed, quiet and easygoing family - Declan doesn't drink, and since having babies I don't drink much nowadays! We love music, arts, history, yoga and good food. We are looking for a calm, caring and creative individual that is happy, flexible and independent. Non-smoking individual or couple preferable to come stay with us and help with day-to-day living. Someone who likes cooking and being around a toddler and is willing to play with our fun and active child is preferable. We would prefer if our workaways were over 23 but we are open to younger workaways. We also have a preference for those who have lived away from home and are interested in exploring the area. Thank you!

Rauland is a beautiful small village set in the mountains and beside the stunning lake Totak. It is known for its excellent skiing in the winter. A short walk from the apartment you can find cross country ski tracks. Also a short walk away you can get the ski bus to the ski centres if downhill skiing or snowboarding is your thing (there is a possibility to rent ski equipment cheaply locally).
In the autumn, before the snow arrives, you can enjoy beautiful walks and foraging if that interests you.
Rauland is also known for its idyllic traditional log cabins, rose maling design on the cabins, crafts and hardanger fiddle traditions. You can wander and learn about these traditions in the local museums and university department.
And we can share some of this knowledge about local traditions and Irish traditions if you like!
Rauland is located along the Hardangervidda, a national park.
Rauland is also close to the UNESCO World Heritage town Rjukan, a great destinations for a visit. For some more information see: visitrauland websiteProjects involving children

Help
Right now we are looking for help cooking, cleaning and a little reorganizing of the house and some playing with Liam for one hour in the evening. Total 4/5 hours a day, 5 days a week. These hours will mainly take place in the mornings. We are looking for a workaway that is calm and doesn’t mind being around an active, creative 3 year old!
Main meals provided. If you are good at organising and working out how to make spaces more beautiful or practical we welcome this! :D
Weekends are your own. We can give you a ride to buses. We encourage you to get out and explore this beautiful area. We would like you to enjoy your time here as much as we enjoy having you.Languages
