    Description

I am a 77 year old Japanese woman living on my own in rural Japan, in a 200 year old farmhouse. I am in the middle of the last photo of my profile.

During the pandemic, I started, with some of my friends, to organize an online network, where members with similar interests can create groups to practice or learn together regularly. Our activities include music, meditation, yoga, tea ceremony, learning Korean and English, Non violent communications, etc.

I have three children, and two of them live very close. My older son and his wife (American) run an alternative school. My younger son is into glass artwork. He is also a workaway host.

My dream is to create a vibrant community where people from around the world can come together to explore Japanese culture and language while sharing their own backgrounds and language!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

While you stay here, you can improve your Japanese, learn Japanese cooking, tea ceremony, calligraphy, Japanese history and philosophy, zen meditation, yoga.
Also there are places where you can try practicing Kendo (Japanese fencing), Wadaiko (Japanese drumming), as well as experiencing acupuncture treatment.

I love learning different languages, such as Korean (elementary), French (intermediate), English (fluent). You will have the opportunity to communicate with locals who are learning English. If you want to learn Japanese more seriously, we can designate some time regularly for language lessons so you can make good progress.

I also play the piano, the violin and the guitar.
Once a week members of our local community gather at my house and enjoy singing and playing music together.

Here at my Workaway we will all work 5hours together Monday to Friday from 9 AM till 12 AM, and 4 PM till 6PM, doing a range of projects needed to be done around the house and garden, where you have a chance to learn a range of practical skills from gardening to cooking in a fun community environment!

The project I would most like Workawayers to help with developing and tending to my organic vegetable garden. I want to work together as much as possible.

you are free to explore and do as you as you would like but as it’s a shared living environment, we take turns to help cooking and cleaning up after the shared meals.

It would also be great if travelers could help me with my computer's minor problems too.

I have a separate small building connected to my house with three bedrooms and a single room in my house, as well as several other rooms available including tatami rooms.
One of my sons or friends can pick you up by car at Sasayamaguchi station, which is about 1 hour away from Osaka.

I try to eat mainly rice, soy milk, organic vegetables from my garden, with some fish and meat and generally there are three meals prepared per day.

    What else ...

My house is nestled in the mountains of Hyogo, in a countryside village on the outside of a small town which is surrounded by rice fields and rolling forest hills. If you want to experience authentic Japanese rural life and learn about traditional Japanese culture surrounded by nature then I believe you will enjoy your stay here. My house is also a short drive from the station.

I have an electric assisted bicycle you are free to use. I don't have a car, but usually my sons and other friends can drive you to the places you want to go.

I organized several online groups for people to support each other in our daily practices, such as zen meditation, basic tea ceremony, yoga, etc. My daily routine starts at 5:30 in the morning everyday and you are welcome to join us, but it's optional. However, I want to start morning work by 9:00, so please be ready before. I would like you to work for 5 hours per day, besides personal activities such as cooking, cleaning, and so on.
No smoking and drinking in the house.
