Georgina was an absolute pleasure to have as part of the space. She brought a warm, open energy that naturally connected with everyone around her. She approached the work with a good attitude and was also very present with the other volunteers and our team here. Respectful, easygoing, and a joy to be around- Any host would be lucky to have her.

It was great having Ferguson here with us. He brought a really nice energy to the space and it was nice to see him get involved with everything, from the music to the activities and the volunteering You’re always welcome back anytime. Hope the road’s treating you well and that we cross paths again somewhere down the line. Un abrazo, Jesse

Last February we spent a month at the finca working on the walls of a new compost toilet and starting the foundations of a new house. The work is dynamic and fun, perfect for people who love creating things getting their hands dirty. We felt welcomed from the very beginning and built lasting connections. Caro and Nico are two wonderful people, open minded, communicative, and incredibly welcoming. The same can be said for everyone living at the finca. We are truly grateful for the experience and the relationships we created. We never felt judged or unwelcome, never out of place, but instead immediately at home. The finca is a magical place, inhabited by amazing human beings and surrounded by pure nature. A thousand thanks are not enough. The days we spent together flew by far too quickly. We sincerely hope to see you again one day. You are special. Warm greetings to each and every one of you.

I had a really great volunteering experience with Cleusa. She gave me a very warm welcome from the moment I arrived, and I immediately had my own personal space, which I really appreciated. She did everything she could to make me feel comfortable, especially during the holiday season when we cooked amazing feasts together. Those were truly special moments of sharing. Even if communication was sometimes a bit challenging, we always managed to understand each other, and those moments often turned into something very funny. I highly recommend this experience if you want to immerse yourself in the daily life of someone in Brazil and live something authentic. A big thank you to Cleusa for her positive energy and good vibes! Ps: she loves listening to music 🎶

Phoebe is a cheerful, very kind girl, and we had some very pleasant conversations. She's a lovely person and very positive; the children loved her and she spent a lot of time with them. We spent two wonderful months with her and wish her the best of luck for the future and her next steps.

Hosting Chiara was an incredible experience for us. She stayed for about a month before walking the Caminho, helped us with daily life around the house and the animals. She cooked amazing food, helped me keep the place clean, and took our two big dogs for occasional walks. Also with really heavy duty tasks, related to our house project and the garden she gave it all, was 100% reliable and her help had a huge positive impact on the project. Spending time with her was always a pleasure. She was very proactive in exploring the area and creating her happy environment. I’d host her again anytime 🤍

First of all, thank you, Armando, for giving me the opportunity to work for/with you. I spent two weeks with Armando's family, and I loved it. I felt at home immediately. Everyone was kind and helpful, and they also have three lovely dogs. My job was simple: helping to build a stone wall and working in the garden. I worked 4.5 hours a day and had 2 days off per week. Public transport is very rare, but I could use Armando's bike, so I cycled around the surrounding area, which was probably my favorite part of my stay. I wish you all the best. I hope we meet again and play football on the beach.

I spent 2 months with this family across February and March and I enjoyed every second of it. There is a positive and comfortable atmosphere in the house, the kids are energetic and love to play: even during winter we spent a lot of time outside playing and walking. I had a lot of free time to go skiing and explore the area around Cortina (every week day until 3pm) , even without a car. Arianna and Pier were both extremely welcoming and I absolutely would come back to do this experience again.

I was in Elisabeth's house for almost a week to take care of her cat while she was on a trip. We spent only a few days together, but I'm thankful to be connected with her because she's deeply sensitive and lovely, always worried to make me feel comfortable and like at home. Her son is really sweet and he loved to play with me. she lives in a particular house and way. It's quite isolated and if you are looking for peace and nature connection this could be the right place to stay.

I had a wonderful time here. Isabel and Michel are incredibly kind, warm, and welcoming people. I felt at home right away. The property and the surrounding landscape are absolutely beautiful, with many spots to explore. The nearby town of Portalegre is also not far away and definitely worth a visit! Since I stayed during spring, most of the tasks involved preparing the garden and beds for the upcoming season. This gave me the opportunity to learn many new things about gardening and permaculture in general. Michel and Isabel are very open to explaining new things and always assign tasks in a respectful and thoughtful way, based on what the place needs. There were also other activities around the house and property. You quickly notice how much effort they put into creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. The house has a very cozy communal space with a kitchen where you can find everything you need for cooking or baking. It’s a lovely place for volunteers to spend relaxed afternoons and evenings together. There are also creative activities available, such as wood carving. And if you’d like to bring in your own ideas or projects, you’re very welcome to do so. I am very happy and grateful that I had the chance to experience here. It’s a place that is truly hard to leave. Thank you so much for the amazing time! I wish you and the project all the very best! I will always look back on my stay with very positive memories.

We spent about six weeks in this beautiful place and had a really great time. We felt at home right from the start and had a very positive stay. During our entire stay, we were alone on site and took care of the house. The sisters were not present, but communication with them worked very well. Whenever we had questions or needed to clarify something, they responded quickly. The exchange was always friendly, reliable and uncomplicated. Our main tasks were housekeeping. In addition, we also took on some other work in the house and garden. We did this independently and on our own responsibility in consultation with the sisters. Overall, it was a very valuable and trusting experience, and we are very grateful that we had the opportunity to be there.

We had the pleasure of hosting Fatih as a volunteer in our hostel for a full month, and we can confidently say that he exceeded all expectations. From the very beginning, he proved to be incredibly reliable, responsible, and genuinely dedicated to helping in any way needed. He approached every task with enthusiasm and attention to detail, whether it was assisting guests, keeping the space organized, or supporting the team during busy periods. What truly stood out about him is his trustworthiness. We always felt completely at ease knowing that any responsibility given to him would be handled with care and integrity. He is someone you can fully rely on, both professionally and personally. Beyond his work ethic, he brought a positive energy to the hostel that guests and staff alike appreciated. He was friendly, respectful, and created a welcoming atmosphere for everyone around him. We are truly grateful for the time he spent with us and would highly recommend him to any future host or team. He is not only a great volunteer but also a genuinely wonderful person to have around.

I had the luxury of staying with Candy, Kim, Choco, and company for a whole month and what an eventful month it was! From the beginning I truly felt welcomed as if I was family. Candy’s niece and nephew gave me the tour of the granja and my first meal was with the whole family! Through the month we did a major renovation of the house and there was always fun projects, great food, and amazing company. I was particularly lucky to overlap my stay with “the tias” which was genuinely my favorite 10 days of the whole experience. I lived amongst 5 Chilean women who were all very passionate about sharing their culture, customs, and language with me. My Spanish is still basic but taking this step in an all-Spanish household, I really saw my skills develop and encourage anyone else looking to push themselves to do the same. I was constantly asking how to say this or that and practicing my speaking and can honestly say this is the perfect environment to learn. To learn the language, the culture, and a more natural down to earth way of life. I truly feel as if I have a home far away from home in Chile now. Amongst all of the good times, laughs, and fond memories, thank you Candy and Kim for such an experience!

Orion was a great workaway guess. They fit right into the house and we're hoping they come back this way.

My five weeks here, as the second volunteer and the fist woman, were full of sourprises and challenges. Claire and Joe were carrying the weight of what it means to set up, in just six mounths, the part of the project open to the public, while continuing to develop new ideas and The Tavern, a space that will allow them to welcome more visitors and offer more services. During my stay, the video " 1 An comme jamais"/" 1 Year of Château du Vot", was released on Youtube, which gives a clear sense of the scale of the challange they have taken on. My own contribution focus on improving certain aereas, maken them cleaner and more care for. I painted doors and windows, brought two trunks, a chest, a swing machine and the recepcion counter back to life, and prepared the kitchen so that, while awaiting its parcial demolition, it can serve as a creative workspace for future workawayers, for painting and restoiring to music and coffe times. I also remover moss and damp from doors, windows, pathway, and stairs. I left the place in a welcoming mood. My hosts, Claire an Joe, have my respect, their dedication is absolute, and mine was too. It is a very beautiful place, somewhat isoleted if you do not drive, but sourrended by towns and cities full of beauty and the charme of Brittany, which the hosts are happy to share. If you are drawn to challanges, value work well done, and whish to contribute to a meaningful project and its history, your stay at The Château du Vot will be very rewarding. To finish, my sincere thanks to Claire and Joe to the opportunity to be part of such an ambitious project at an early stage. I gave my full energy and commitment, and I leave with the satisfaction of having contributed. I wish them both the very best as the project continues to grow.

One of the best workaway experiences we had: the only problem was that it was too short, because Matthias is such a nice person that we felt we missed some time to enjoy a bit longer his pleasant presence. A sweet, hardworking, tidy, knowledgeable, generous and interesting person. Highly reccommended also just as a host. Hoping to see him again soon.

This was my first Workaway experience, and I am truly glad I decided to come! It was one of the best decisions I made this year. Catherine and her family are very warm and welcoming people, and I really enjoyed the time I spent with them and the other Workawayer. During my stay, I learned many things in a natural way. Catherine taught us how to make a delicious salad dressing, her homemade bread was wonderful, and she even cures her own ham. Her niece also made an amazing cake and generously shared the recipe. I later tried it myself and it turned out great. This experience felt especially meaningful to me. In Taiwan, life is very convenient and it’s easy to rely on ready-made food, but here I felt a stronger connection to making things by hand. It inspired me to try to cook and bake more during my time in Canada. I also learned how to use a wood stove, which was completely new to me, and it became one of my favorite memories. Cleaning the house could sometimes be a challenge, as it is large and full of character, but it was also a great way to experience a different way of living. Catherine is understanding and open to communication, and it is always possible to find a good balance between helping and personal time. There are also many small but meaningful moments, like when she told me I have a beautiful smile while we were talking about my childhood, and of course, the unforgettable “toothbrush incident,” which is much funnier when she tells it. Overall, I would sincerely recommend staying with Catherine if you are considering a Workaway in Montreal. It is a warm and memorable experience.
