  • Description

I'm a free-spirited nature lover and by far the happiest whenever I'm with the elements or in touch with the earth. I'm gentle and joyful and adore connecting with people of all ages from all walks of life and am completely fascinated by other people's views and experiences of the world. I enjoy being in groups but I definitely prefer being one on one or in a small group as I find it much easier to engage in meaningful conversation this way. I'm an adventerous type that does not shy away from getting my hands dirty and I revel in new experiences and learning new skills. I'm currently learning Spanish and although I'm a beginner I want to immerse in the language as much as possible.

I'm incredibly passionate about ancestral traditions and ways of living and recently completed a year long apprenticeship in ancestral Irish herbalism. I have a deep love of folklore and mystery and reclaiming traditional skills and ways of working in harmony with nature. I have recently started getting into textile crafts and wool working, learning to hand-spin wool and to knit, and I'm open to learning any other traditional ways of working with natural materials. I'm new to workaway but have lots of experience working and volunteering in exchange for accommodation and really value the life experiences and wisdom that I can receive from living this way.

I was raised in the North of England and spent 3 years living nomadically either in a caravan, van, or living and travelling with just a tent and a bicycle so I'm pretty weather hardy. I also love being creative with dance and poetry being my two main forms of expression although I'm open to learning and trying any form of creative expression. I also regard myself as a spiritual person and am very open to different spiritual and philosophical beliefs, with my own personal practice varying from more Eastern traditions such as, yoga, silent meditation, and dynamic meditation, to celebrating pagan sabbats, tarot, witchcraft, and ritual.

In general I'm a very grounded and easy going person and work well with others but also really enjoy working independently and being able to use my own initiative.

  • More details about your skills

As mentioned previously I'm a qualified herbalist (working with native Irish herbs mainly), and I am also an avid forager and often hold workshops on this at festivals in the summer and have my own very small business selling foraged teas and herbal products. I also currently live at an Osho community and work on the grounds and in the garden and have many skills related to gardening and food growing and general land maintanence. I have also been recently building willow structures which has given me immense joy and am in the process of creating various herb gardens and learning about rewilding.

I also cook for the community 1-2 times a week which varies between 30-60 people and have a great passion for food and flavour, I mostly cook large scale vegan food although I'm not a vegan myself and can cook family sized meals with meat and fish (although I was vegan for 10 years so this I am still learning and welcome any advice and recipes).

Having lived nomadically for many years I love building fires and chopping wood and can do it for hours with great satisfaction. I also really love anything that involves tending to a home, such as cleaning and decorating and get great satisfaction out of making spaces feel clean and welcoming.

I adore all animals and have lots of experience with cats and dogs and some with farm animals but I would love to work more with farm animals and horses, as well as any animals in general.

I have some recent experience working as a live in carer and got great satisfaction from the role, it greatly compliments my love of people, cooking, and cleaning.

I'm pretty physically fit and take instruction well, and I'm also very open to constructive feedback and have done a lot of work on myself and my communication so I'm very happy to have honest conversations because I feel they're essential for working and living with people. I have a lot of enthusiasm for life and happy to try anything if I haven't done it before.
