    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Here, you will be immersed in true Moroccan life, far away from the touristic normalities most may experience and expect. A totally unique and genuine cultural exchange, from visiting the Souk, bathing in the Hammam, enjoying surrounding sites of natural beauty and tasting the delicious local cuisine. If you're interested in learning Arabic or the local dialect (Darija), many people will be very happy to help you, and we can arrange some formal lessons too. We guarantee you will leave having made unforgettable friendships and bonds within the community here, having seen and lived a side of Moroccan life that you would not have otherwise.

  • Help

    Help

Ideally, we are looking for longterm help and any professional or personal experience that you believe can benefit both language learning and a cultural exchange. Whether you're an experienced teacher, a new tutor looking for experience or just enthusiastic about getting involved in education and community help, we'd love to have you! Any ideas or skills you can bring outside of the classroom environment are also warmly welcomed - social media, partnerships, marketing, community projects…anything to help us help the city and develop the school!

Please feel free to get in touch with any questions - we have a small team of long-term workers here who would be happy to talk at length about anything and everything you might want to know before joining us.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Your accommodation is a lovely apartment situated a short walk away from the school, with a beautiful rooftop view of the city and of course shower/toilet/kitchen facilities. We dont have Wifi, but we have a strong connection at the school, it's always a good idea to have some SIM data to use (essential for being out and about, too!).

We have some relaxation/leisure rooms for staff and volunteers at the school, and you will find plenty of places around Kelaa to enjoy a walk or some food and drink.

We do not offer food for volunteers, because of this we have reduced hours of expected work - 15 hours per week.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Life in the city is incredibly affordable, and you can find everything you may need within walking distance. Restaurants, cafés, markets and shops are found everywhere and you can expect to live very comfortably on a small budget. The community are very welcoming and friendly, and it’s not unusual to be invited into someone's home for dinner or lunch. On Fridays we usually dine at a restaurant for couscous which the school is happy to pay for.

We are located around an hour's drive from Marrakech, on the outskirts of the world famous Middle Atlas mountains. From here, you’ll be able to experience some of Morocco’s lesser seen beauty in a relatively short journey - the Ourika Valley, treks in both the Middle and High Atlas, Ouarzazate and the Ouzoud Falls are all available to see during time off. For long-stay volunteers (over 1 month) we can arrange a three-day trip to the desert (only the cost of the diesel is shared). Some weekends we may also visit the coast as a group and take some leisure time on the beach or explore nearby cities.
