I had such a fabulous time at Richard’s Workaway. Full of laughter, good conversations, and fun and interesting work. Richard’s passion for his awesome projects and Japan’s nature is really admirable and eye-opening to see, and I’m so glad I could be a part of it. Would highly recommend joining this Workaway, a project to definitely not miss out on, and I would love to return in the future. Thank you Richard !! :))

Our first Workaway experience was truly amazing! Theo and Doug are wonderful, very easy-going and kind people who made us feel welcome from the very first moment. The work was easy and very fair – mostly gardening and some housework. We worked around 3 hours a day, 4 days a week, which left plenty of time to relax and explore. We especially loved spending time playing with Honey and Turi. They completely stole our hearts! We will always remember Doug’s limoncello and Theo’s homemade ice cream. We are so grateful for this beautiful first Workaway experience and would absolutely love to come back one day. 💛

So many things to be said for Kakak Graziano,, He is the person that made everyone smile and happy, he is the person that have the energy to do anything and feel so easy, he is the person that able to go local and adjust with our culture here. He can do any skill from sharing his English to do some hard work in the garden. He is not afraid of getting himself dirty of the mud and also he drives very safe around with the motorbike. Thank you for coming to us, and hopefully to see soon with more places to explore. Ika

Claire and Adrien are AMAZING! We have been lucky enough to host so many exceptional people but these two are as good as it gets. Having them here felt like a holiday despite the days being very full and getting so much done. Every morning the house was sparkling, the chickens were fed, the garden watered and the wood boxes full before the day even began. For the first week of their stay they mostly helped Nick at my parents house with gardening, installing gutters and repairing some timber doors. For the next two weeks they worked with us, building a shed and storage shelves, sorting out a chaos of tools, working on constructing a solar dehydrator, gardening, fencing, clearing a tree, harvesting berries and herbs and so much more. They were as genuinely enthused about all our projects as we were and always keen to get working and reluctant to stop, which made every day feel productive, energising and fun. We also had lots of fun sharing games and music and learnt an excellent new card game from them. Claire and Adrien are the most conciencious, considerate, enthusiastic, hard working and good hearted people you could hope to meet and they will bring joy to anyone lucky enough to host them. We were all a bit heartbroken to say goodbye 💔

Geraldine, Giorgio and Antony are so nice, kind, easygoing and easy to communicate. I spend 2 weeks there, the retreat is very cozy, clean and beautiful, if there is no customers, you can have the room. Also they will share food with you. I only went out one day, because retreat is too comfortable. I washed the ground and cleaned some leaf's before costmer coming. I helped in the kitchen like washing dishes and preparing food when customers are here. It is really nice to stay with them, they are so kind and good energy! thank you so much!

It was a real pleasure to have Maki and Gen in my home. They are polite, respectful and have a willing, helpful attitude. As a young couple they are keen to learn and listen, so I can highly recommend them to any host lucky enough to have them. I learnt a lot about Japan - especially Okinawa. We had a lot of fun together. Maki and Gen helped me get lot of tasks done to a high standard and I hope they will come back soon.

It was lovely having Jenny to stay with us for a few weeks. I really appreciated Jenni's willingness to contribute to the tasks that required doing. Jenny stayed at the same time as another workawayer and it was lovely to see them become friends and to share each other's company, as I tend to be away a lot! There were times when we were all there and we we able to share some yummy meals together and get to know each other a bit more. We had an unfortunate experience of fleas in the household and Jenny was happy to help to get it sorted. Thank you for your understanding Jenny and all your help while you stayed. I really appreciate it. Peace, love and light.

Katie blessed us with her presence for a couple of weeks and it was so awesome to have her around. Katie is a friendly, helpful, chilled individual, very respectful and compassionate as well. During her stay Katie helped with a few jobs in the garden, weeding and also pulling blackberry. Along with another workawayer who was staying at the same time, they got a lot achieved and I am forever grateful to them both for all the work they did in the chicken coop area and also in a different area that had more blackberry! Not easy work, but they never complained and always have a positive attitude. Thank you so much for all your hard work Katie and it was lovely meeting your Mum and her friends. I do hope you can come back to visit us, as the boys are always looking for willing candidates to bounce with them on the tramp or build LEGO creations. Peace, love and light from us all.

Is more than a place to go and work. It is a place where all happiness, creativeness, calmness and fun all have a place. Here we danced, talked, cooked, shared a wardrobe and simply enjoyed living. Sandra is such a strong and capable lady, with a great sense of humour. She lives her intentions and is greatly inspiring to many people around her. The place is somewhere i will not forget and it was so hard to leave.

Franziska was a great host and always made sure everything worked out, and it absolutely did! I took care of the family's cats, Lissi and Lotti, who were both very cute, cuddly and easy to handle. The family was already gone when I arrived, but Franzi showed great arrangement skills and even left plenty of food for me. We stayed in touch the whole time, and the communication went very smoothly. Lovely experience!

Lauren and I had an amazing time staying at Ricardo's. He has a beautiful property that includes a pool, jungle gym (in the making process), communal areas with hammocks and a couple cenotes (however they are more under construction and not ones you swim in). Ricardo was a great host to us when he drove us around to town and took Lauren to the doctors for infected mosquito bites. He was very good at looking after us and included us in lots of activities where we met many of his friends (eg. salsa dancing, canoeing, and making tamales). Just to mention the kitchen is very basic. There is one stove and no fridge. Fresh food will not last beyond 1 day (tip - buy fruit unripe and it should be ripe when you want to eat it). Ricardo does not provide food so make sure you have something for when you arrive. In the room the toilet didn't flush but we were able to manually flush it with a bucket. Overall, there were a couple flaws but we had a really lovely time and got on really well with Ricardo - he's a good laugh! 😂 Thank you for our stay, Amy and Lauren

Both Yeryeong and Arhyun are lovely thoughtful young women. They were very engaged and though Arhyun’s English skills are still developing, Yeryeong’s were good enough to make most communication smooth. Translation using the phone app helped greatly and made for a fun and enjoyable time. They coped very well with the simple cleaning and gardening tasks given to them and were very diligent once given the task. They did sleep in a lot, which meant I needed to rearrange the work schedule to get things done, but that was manageable as I had a lot of flexibility at the time. The most special thing was the opportunity for cultural exchange, and learning a lot more about how veganise Korean dishes. At the end we made a monumental amount of delicious Kimchi and that will remain one of my favourite experiences. I hope they come back and we can do it again.
