    Description

Our small is a very small meditation retreat centre cum residence with two female Buddhist monastics and two other female practitioners (Raj and Kiran). I, Dr. Karma Tashi am a Buddhist nun and an academic and work at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, which is just a walking distance away from our sanctuary. I am also a meditation teacher and have my own YouTube channel, where I conduct weekly meditation classes.

Dr. Tenzin Dadon, also a Buddhist nun is from Bhutan and teaches Tibetan language and loves outdoor adventures and is a very good guide of Semenyih.

We have a dog and four cats. We have a mini garden and a small therapy pool. We have a garden portion, a fruit orchard with coconut and banana trees and a vegetable plot behind our residence. We observe a vegetarian diet and practice mindfulness in our daily lives.

The two female practitioners, Raj and her daughter Kiran are from the Sikh tradition and practice their own spiritual tradition. They run a small home catering venture called Punjab Heritage and Fusion Delights and are excellent cooks. They specialise in authentic North Indian Cuisine and cater to university students nearby.

We love the hills of Semenyih and the feel of the university town. There is Broga Hill nearby and the Kuan Yin temple at the end of the Broga Road. The Chinese food in Broga and Semenyih town is excellent. There are shops within a walking distance, including restaurants, supermarkets, a pharmacy and even a gym!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You will be exposed to meditation, Buddhism, Sikhism, gardening and cooking and getting to live with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds under one roof. You will get to learn and practice meditation and enjoy nature in our locality and experience the different festivals we celebrate in Malaysia.

We in turn would love to connect with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds who can teach us any skills that they may possess (if they wish to) and to genuinely be part of our community for as long as they are with us. Our community respects the principles of equality, diversity and inclusivity and we love making new friends.

    Help

We would love to share our home with anyone interested in mindfulness and meditation who would also be happy to walk our dog, feed our cats or help us with some weekly pool cleaning and gardening (watering the plants and weeding orchards and vegetable plot). Our monastics can help to teach you meditation and Tibetan language and our practitioners can transfer North Indian cooking skills and gardening skills.

We may not always be able to cook meals but we have plenty of supplies at home (vegetables, rice, etc.) and Workawayers are free to cook for themselves.
