I had a great experience volunteering here I stayed for almost a month and came back for a few more days after visiting the beach to help some more. It’s a splendid, quiet place and very well kept. The property is clean, peaceful, and a really nice environment to spend time in. My work was a mix of maintenance projects and social activities, which made the experience balanced and enjoyable. The tasks felt meaningful and it was satisfying to contribute. The staff were great to work with, and the owners were very respectful of volunteers’ time while giving clear and fair tasks. Overall it was a very positive experience and I would definitely recommend it to others. I would also happily come back one day.

Merith and Chris are very friendly, open and kind people. I stayed with them for more than two weeks in a cozy room with a private bathroom and felt very comfortable during my stay. Unfortunately, I was not lucky with the weather and it rained almost the whole time. Despite that, they really tried to make my stay as pleasant as possible. Every day we had a delicious lunch together, and I prepared my own breakfast and dinner in the outdoor kitchen using the ingredients they provided. Because of the weather I couldn’t explore the surroundings as much as I would have liked, but it is a truly beautiful place connected with nature. Of course the weather cannot be controlled, but it was still a very nice experience that I will remember fondly. Thank you very much for the warm welcome and for the time I was able to spend there.

Having Sawyer with us was an incredible experience! From the moment he arrived, he showed dedication, kindness, and a strong work ethic. Sawyer is highly skilled in a variety of practical areas, including landscaping, auto mechanics, carpentry, and electrical work. He approaches projects thoughtfully and competently, often bringing useful ideas and solutions. Sawyer consistently put the work first and demonstrated real commitment to seeing projects through to completion. He is responsible, motivated, and dependable, and we could always trust him to follow through on what needed to be done. Beyond his skills, Sawyer is a genuinely kind and respectful person who contributed positively to the environment around him. We highly recommend Sawyer to any future host. His work ethic, integrity, and practical abilities make him an excellent addition to any team.

We had a really positiv experience helping on the farm. It was very kind of him to give us the opportunity to stay and work there, especially since we did not have much previous experience with farm work. He was always friendly, patient and welcoming. The tasks were clearly explained from the beginning, including the order in which things should be done and this stucture stayed consistent throughout our stay. This made it easy for us to work independently. Whenever we had questions he answered them quickly and helpful. Our daily tasks included feeding the horses, cleaning the stables, letting the dogs out and feeding them, feeding the pigeons and taking care of the cat. Overall, it was a unique stay that allowed us to learn many new things.

Somewhat isolated location some 10 kilometres up a single lane road in a mountain range out from Mullumbimby. Accomodation was a bit of an issue; solved by using my own van. Lucinda is working on Workaway accomodation even now. Lucinda herself was amazing. Works full time, is involved in community everywhwere, and still has time to develop and improve her property. I only decided to leave and go home (2000 kilometres) after the Iranian conflict with the US, causing great doubt for the cost and availability of fuel in Australia. If you are into gardening and vegetation management this will be an ideal location. As my field is building, construction and renovation, ther was plenty of work for me.

I can totally recommend this experience to everyone looking for a remote surf place in a small community 🌊 I worked 4 times a week (~5 hours) at the reception and once a week we would all together volunteer at a dog shelter - apart from that I had a lot of free time that I spent surfing, painting, reading and just enjoying my time in the camp with the most lovely people! Our amazing host Dawn provided us generously with all groceries for the week and left us all creative freedom to decorate the hostel, I felt welcomed, safe and taken care of any time <3 I found a second family in this place and left with tons of great memories, thank you so much for this opportunity!

Liliana and Thomas were sweet and helpful. The dogs loved them and they were a pleasure to host. They even made a fun video of their adventures on the many hikes they took with dogs. I really appreciate such kind gestures and I treasure videos that volunteers make because I get to peek in on adventures they took together. Many happy adventures to you both!!

Etienne is a lovely, easy going guy and was an excellent help for me. He is very energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking. We did much more than I could have imagined :D I really appreciate his willingness and commitment. It was a full building experience :D including earthwork, building and plumbing while using some modern and some ancient technology...in one week we moved sheds, deck, caravan, deconstructed a roof and then put it up again, dug holes in hard clay soil etc...I am really grateful.

I’d recommend this surf camp to anyone that gets the opportunity to work in such a place. Staying somewhere like Playa Grande taught me how to slow down and relax, while making great friendships and connections with the remote community that’s around you. Here, you’ll meet people similar to you, be able to build a routine in paradise, and get welcomed like family in little time. Dawn was an AMAZING host that provided us with everything and more, was always there when we needed her, and supported/ trusted in my creative side more than anyone else has. I’d thank her 1000x for the great opportunity if I could. The volunteers would spend their days working and getting things done, and our nights were spent together cooking dinner, spending time with other guests we met along the way, playing music and occasional hammock time. Thank you to everyone that made this experience as amazing as it was! I hope to be back someday.

The hosts, Maria and her husband are wonderful people. I am grateful to have met them. The food was excellent, Maria cooked delicious traditional Colombian dishes every day. Nature around is very beautiful. They have great projects planned for their farm that workaways could take part of, in a very relaxed setting.

Jiri spend 3 weeks at our place. He really was the perfect all round volunteer. He knew how to handle all kind of different jobs. From gardening to painting and woodworking. We also had lovely conversations. And loved his dog Colin. Jiri is welcome back whenever he wants.

We had a great experience with Tony and Nadja. They are a very independent, organized and chill couple. We were actually out on a trip ourselves during their stay so we've trusted our property and our kitten to them and everything turned out great. They also helped in the school with specific tasks and they took their job with care and responsibility. At departure, they left our cabin spotless and ready to be occupied by our next guest. We reccommend them as workawayers to any family.

Hosting her was an absolute pleasure. She stayed with me at my home and helped primarily with landscaping and gardening tasks, and she approached every job with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. She’s great working with her hands, consistent in her effort, and always added value — whether we were in the garden, in the kitchen, or just sharing space around the house. As a guest, she was respectful, kind, social, and very easy to communicate with. She showed excellent initiative and demonstrated smart, thoughtful decision‑making. She fit naturally into the rhythm of the household and carried herself with the kind of positive expedition behaviour that makes everything run smoother. She kept her space tidy, was considerate in shared areas, and was simply a joy to have around. It was refreshing to spend time with someone who has an open mind, a kind heart, and a genuinely positive spirit. She was always willing to help, often going above and beyond, and her self‑motivation stood out. I think anyone who gets the chance to host her is lucky. I would absolutely host her again.

It was a pleasure to me to stay here for a month. My plan was two weeks, but in time a wanted zo stay longer. Private acommodation with everything you need. Flexible time of work, different types of jobs in beautiful nature. Every day was In a way, enriching. Nice talks and really good food.👌 Thank you for everything.

Tabea stayed 3 weeks with us at our farm. She was helping me in the garden with planting, cultivation of soil, weeding, netting of fruit trees, landscaping and caring for our chickens and my dog. She was also a great support in caring and playing with my two year old son who connected with her instantly. Tabea worked efficiently once clear directions were given. She also helped around the house with some cleaning. She helped when she saw the opportunity to support in my every day tasks. She is switched on and came up with her own solutions whenever there was a challenge, which shows her eagerness to learn new skills. Its was great having here around. Definitely recommend her helping hands.

I had a wonderful stay with Patricia and am so grateful for the experience. She welcomed me warmly from the start and made me feel very at home in her beautiful and peaceful house. As my first Workaway experience I am so appreciative to Patricia, it was such a wonderful one! The work involved gardening, pruning, and general yard work, and Patricia always explained tasks clearly, which made everything easy and enjoyable. It was lovely spending time outdoors helping care for such a nice space. Patricia was also incredibly generous with her time. She shared great local recommendations, made sure I experienced the area, has so much local knowledge to share and kindly dropped me into town and picked me up on several occasions. She even gave me a lift to Croagh Patrick so I could do the climb, which I really appreciated. I would happily recommend staying with Patricia to any Workawayer looking for a kind, welcoming host and a really positive experience. Thank you again, Patricia, for your warmth and generosity, it’s a stay I’ll always remember fondly.

Gabriela is a very good host. The work is fun, and the house itself has a great vibe. It’s a unique experience to help around with the many repairs and fixes the place needs. The work will be demanding, but also rewarding to see the progress. Gabriela is easy to communicate, and she will try to accommodate the best she can.

We are happy to have hosted this lovely french family. The children did connect very fast and had a great time toghether, while the adults had good conversations and nice beach viewings. We are really impressed how organised and mindful you are, while traveling with three children (one is still so little :-)) and a dog. We are really happy for what you helped us in various works and we enjoyed the time with you. We definitely reccommend other Workaway Hosts, to host you in the future.
